World of Darkness: The Academy - How do you work this crazy thing?

Looking around, Sylvia saw all eyes turned to her for a decision. In a strange sort of way, it was comforting; she was used to being an authority figure, and a return to that role - however brief it may turn out to be - settled her nerves.

With a smile that was now more than just polite, the Den Mother nodded. "We would be honored to share your table, Itau. Please lead the way."

Itau and the unnamed Neri lead the way over the bridge and through the jungle. The narrow path was bordered by the eager jungle, and it was certain that if the path weren't used daily, it would soon be swallowed.

The village was in a created clearing; the jungle was still trying to reclaim it. But the Neri seemed to love their space; they had encouraged flowers and pretty plants to grow in pots or even on their thatch houses, the roots becoming part of the building.

Delicate, fey forms rushed around, hurriedly preparing food. It looked like the perverbial fatted calf had been killed; there was going to be a ton of food. Itau guided them to a large fire and offered them seats on woven pads. "The Chief will be here soon to greet you personally," their interpreter said, smiling. "Would you care for something to drink?"

The village was exaclty what Everett had expected. It looked to be one with the jungle. He took in the sights as they proceeded further into alien territory. The foliage was beautiful. The scent given off by the fauna was complimented by that of the meat being prepared for the apparent feast.

I wonder what kind of animal that is. Would I even know?, Everett thought to himself as he walked. It didn't matter to him really. Whatever it was he'd accept...not to mention he was starving.

When Itau told them they would be greeted by the chief shortly Everett had his suspicions comfirmed. They'd been expected. That they were being treated as returning heroes was enough to convince anyone. Upon being offered a drink Everett replied with a simple "yes, thank you".

Drinks were brought for those who accepted, and those who didn't were made aware that they could have any with a simple request. In time, a Neri dressed in feathers, furs and carved beads approached. His slight face was painted with a silver paint that gleamed wetly in the light. Like most tribal people, his decorations looked silly to the modern kids, but Sylvia recognized his importance immediately.

Though Itau, the chief welcomed them. "We are blessed with the return of our friends Dalton to our lands. We welcome you friends; our Door is always open; our Hearth is always warm. And now, we are honored to share food with our returned friends." The chief clapped, and the feast was brought out.

The meats were not identifiable; they had too many legs and it all had a strange nutty taste. The fruit was all sweeter than fruit from home, but tended to come in smaller pieces. The fish were huge and tasted more like chicken than fish. And perhaps the oddest of all: the flowers were edible, if a little bland. There was a variety of sweet sauces to dip them in for flavor. There was a trend in the food; it was all high sugar and high fat.

Zack partakes of everything offered, though in only small portions. The food is good, though abit like eating fast food in terms of fat content and sweetness.

When the Chief speaks Zack nods respectfully. "We are honored by such a warm reception."

It looked like something from a book when the feast was brought out. The procession of Neri, the steam wafting from the meat, the enormous fish. It was all so incredible Everett couldn't help but laugh to himself a little. He lowered his head slightly as his shoulders moved gently in tune with his mirth.

The food was delicious. He sampled a bit of everything at the table. It didn't compare to the food on their world at all. This truly was quite the experience.
