Day 3.5: Eventful Night?

Will tried to relax and make it easy for Samantha... and ignore he was undergoing mental surgery by a powerful but fresh-out-of-the-box telepath who was also his EX-girlfriend. No potential for problems there. With letting his mind drift and letting his control relax, it was far too easy to observe the angelic beauty in front of him and wonder if she'd be up for some non-angelic activities.

Then came the feeling that they were being watched, Will ignored it and said "Keep going."

Samantha concentrated as she closed her eyes and placed her hands gently on Williams head. It wasn't really necessary to touch him but the effect was to make him more relaxed which helped her scan his mind.

His surface thoughts were manifold and strongly influenced by their current situation. She sensed his worried mind but also the determination of a strong leader who kept himself under control and aloft of things. Burrowing deeper into his mind she found their first shared memory - years back when they met the first time. Williams "innocent" youth and confidence made him a natural leader and she remembered how she felt drawn to him. Violet just wanted to pleasure herself using him for her desires - there was no real love attached to that. Still Samantha had to smile... it were innocent times back then.

Perception roll - 3 suxx needed (6d10.hits(6)=3) - 3 suxx vs. DC 6, only 2 vs DC 8 so I failed this one

There was a short distracting moment, as if someone watched them but Samantha discarded it as unimportant - William was more important now than some strange feeling that she couldn't place.

Alexandra was the only one to see the figure rising out of the shadows. Unfortunately, even with her supernatural speed, she wasn't able to do anything about the suprise attack.

A figure, wearing the shadows as if they were a suit of armor, materialized out of the shadows being cast by one of the airconditioning uints, with his arm pointed towards Alexandra. It was only as she realized what was happening that a beam of blindingly white light shot out from his closed fist, covering the distance between them in the merest fraction of a second.

Alexandra's supernatural speed didn't let her do anything about the suprise attack, excet avoid it... barely. The beam of light searing her uniform and going on to blast through the window of an adjacent building.

Frank wasn't usually this fast... or at least he hadn't been when they'd last encountered him and his friends...

Then, as if the mere thought of them had summoned them, a circular rift appeared and made everyones ears pop at the sudden change in pressure. Through the portal a well lit light blue room stuffed to the brim with advanced electronics and technology was visable. Visable at least past the forms of Jessee, Juan and Joe. They stepped through the portal, Joe blinked and the portal was gone.

Violet and William were roused from their session by the commotion, leaving them in a very vunerable position, as Juan headed towards William and Joe started materializing what looked like anime style laser cannons out of his shoulders.

With speed that only Alexandra could match, Jessee set himself in front of her, and Frank, as usual, was no where to be found.

Alexandra, you get an action, then Jessee. If you attack, go ahead and roll damage with an accuracy bonus. Whatever dice it turns out you don't need I'll just discard.

William and Violet roll init. You don't get anything but a reaction to the bright light, your ears popping, and the sudden appearance of your arch rivals.

Epic fight anyone?

At the bright light Will rose to his feet thinking, *If that's the paparazzi then we have the edge of the roof right over there. No, it's them.*

Samantha almost jumps back with a startle and lets out a girlish squeal. She instinctively ducked for cover behind Will unaware that she was powerful enough now to defend herself.

As quick as Alexandra was, Jessee was just quicker... or had some way to see her attack coming. Either way, the effect was still the same, he was able to avoid her attack.

The same wasn't as true for Alexandra. A sword of pure white energy appeared out of Jessee's hand as he moved out of the way of Alexandra's attack. And it came down swiftly toward her.

Alexandra wasn't without her own tricks though. She spun under the attack, so that the searing blade caught only her outfit and the barest piece of her arm underneath. The wound was instantly cauterized, so there was no blood, and the cut in her sleeve was only about two inches long, but she still hurt thoughout her entire body.

Not nearly enough to put her down though... which was good, because she and Jessee had effectively traded places, putting her closer to his friends and further from her own.

Alexandra, I actually meant for you to roll your attack as well as your damage. I'm sorry that I didn't state it clearly.

Alexandra, you take 1 lethal dmg, and you'll be at a -1 to all physical actions next round (not lik it'll make that much of a difference for you).

When it's your turn, roll for attack, and then roll damage with the full accuracy bonus. I'll then roll defense and see if you hit and how well, and just subtract dice from the end of the roll.

Will shifts his stance, summons his staff, mentally picks Juan as the chosen victim, and motions Juan forward.

Will reserves his action (last call) but intends to interrupt anyone who attacks Sam by attacking them himself. His combat telepathy (+3 dice to attack) is against Juan, any damage Will takes will be taken by Juan instead (Will won't bother dodging). Note Will also has Abort Physical Action so if his action becomes irrelevant he can still attack someone.

Omni was apparently ready for William.

What he wasn't ready for was William's devious little trick. It was something that William had only learned about after (or possibly because of) their final fight.

Omni came in with a powerful right hook, straight to William's jaw. William could feel the surprise from Omni when he didn't even try to get out of the way, and he felt the fist connect.

He felt his feet lift off of the roof and felt his back hit one of the large, unidentifiable metal structures that dotted the roof. William knew that that should've hurt. It should've given him a sensation that he hadn't felt for many years. In fact, he could even feel where there should have been a bleeding gash across his left cheek.

But he felt no pain. There was no bleeding gash. His back didn't even hurt from the impact that completely mangled the steel structure that he flew into.

Omni was just surprised. William could sense no pain coming from him and could see no outward signs of injury... of course, with health proxy you couldn't always see the damage.

Omni went back to a neutral stance, looked at his fist and then looked at William, flexing his shoulders. William could sense Omni's highly trained combat mind racing with the new circumstances.

Then William noticed that he wasn't between Samantha and the rest of their foes anymore...

With a smug chuckle Will moved back to where he'd been saying, "What a shock, you can't hurt me. And you show up right after someone says every man, woman, and child city-wide is going to be killed. How about it Juan? Here to butcher my city?"
