Violet’s eyes searched Dan’s her question unspoken as she gave him a pleading look. You’re going to stay and fight?

She didn’t dare ask that question and she knew the mask he had put on now. An emotional shield that protected his sanity in a world of madness. Violet didn’t like the idea of leaving them behind but she would not risk her life for this… enclave. Everything she had was at the refuge and even though many people didn’t know or wouldn’t agree she worked very hard for what she called her own.

“Please come back…”, was all she managed to say her voice just a above a whisper. The desire to kiss him and hold him, feel that they both were alive and there was no real reason to participate in this madness was almost unbearable. But she would’ve made it just more difficult for him and she knew that. With sad eyes she looked out of the window again and waited until they picked her up to drive back home to the refuge.

He railed against that sort of idealism, he didn't believe in anything that much anymore. He still couldn't bring himself to yell at Jasmine for it though. "I fought once so people could believe that way Jasmine, Doing so again will be refreshing."

Dan looked to Violet, his mask cracking slightly as as a faint smile crossed his face. "I owe these people for what I was prepared to do to them once."

He reached out and laid a hand on her shoulder giving her a reassuring squeeze. "As for me coming back, don't worry, I always do."

Painful memories came back and made Violet flinch. His touch was reassuring but it didn’t help her overcome her fear. She thought the same about James – that nothing could hurt him but that proved to be wrong. James did come back but from what she had heard it was close to a miracle and if it wasn’t for Myfwany he would be dead now. She felt it… he was dead and then she brought him back. The pain she felt that day was beyond her ability to describe. It made her almost cry again just thinking about it.

Being a super didn’t make you invincible or immortal. She was one of the best examples for that. She wasn’t bullet proof and still bled from a normal cut, although that healed faster than it normally would and it didn’t leave any scars for which she was very grateful. Anyway – there was no guarantee that he’d come back and what if the others had a super, too? Someone who could kill Jas and Dan, just like they could? The odds would be even then and the risk far too great from Violet’s point of view.

Violet sighed suppressing a sob and fighting back tears. This world was so fucked up. If the Zombies didn’t get them they’d kill each other over petty things without talking about it, without reason at all. It made no sense to her. She turned around to face Dan and he could see tears welling up in her eyes. “If things get out of control, don’t risk your life, Dan. It’s not worth it.”

She nodded at him and tried to bring up a confident smile. What else could she do than trust him? If she could change things she would but that was beyond her abilities. Maybe the book would help her out on that matter. There were chapters about Magic and Rituals which she had avoided till now. It was time to delve into that and see if she could find a way to take a more active role instead of waiting and hoping that no one got hurt.

Jasmine pressed her lips together then, trying to conceal her irritation. Knowing Violet could sense emotions, she went ahead and turned away, walking back towards Gabrielle and giving them their private moment.

What.. these people don't deserve a shot too, just because they're devout Christians? I'm pretty sure Violet or Fox could probably get a bunch of people to do stuff like that too - we don't even know if Elijah was some kind of super or not. It might have been all in what he convinced people to do. We'll never know now, since we just came in and shot him.

Violet's callousness towards the people here strengthened Jasmine's resolve. She stopped behind Gabrielle and touched the blond's shoulder lightly, so the other woman would notice her presence, and when she turned to her she smiled slightly.

"Priest is going to take Pumpkin back to the other refuge for now, for her safety. Violet is going with them. Dan and I are going to stay here and help in any way we can. Is there anything here I could do for now to try and help strengthen your defenses, or is there somewhere we could move people for it to be safer? Just let me know.. I need to say goodbye to Pumpkin for now, but then I'm willing to help however I can. I wanna try and help you resolve this as peacefully as possible, Gabrielle."

"Thanks for being willing to help. Umm...I'm going to be going out here pretty soon to see if I can find a fishing shop or anywhere else that might have nets, as well as to check if the police station has any non-damaging crowd control devices left. We're still deciding if we should stay here or move most of the people over to the power plant and into the tunnels. We've got them cleared out or blocked off enough that it should be safe as a temporary shelter." She smiled and ran a hand through her hair, her momentary nervousness a reminder to Jasmine of just how close in age they were. They should have been going to college together right now, not defending what was left of one from angry men and soulless zombies. "I'm sorry your visit's been interrupted by this; we've really been quite quiet the past couple of weeks."

She bit her lip, "I don't suppose you or Dan have any ideas on how to handle this if comes to blows that could keep from coming to graves?"

Jasmine pressed her lips together in concentration, looking thoughtful. Finally, she nodded slightly, looking determined.

"I've already told Dan that I'd like to avoid having it come to any kind of fatal conflict if possible. I've gotten much better about focusing my efforts, so that I can hold back now better than I could the last time you saw me.. which will help. We should check out the building.. if there's some place we can lead them too, maybe by blocking off some other areas or something, perhaps we could block off the vents and fill it with some sort of gas, like maybe laughing gas from a dentist's office? That might knock them out or make them more pliable if they try and break in. I think hiding people for now would be the best, those who aren't helping us. I also think we should try and reinforce your walls - maybe we could find some sheets of metal, and I could try and connect that to your current fence? I'm really strong, so I should be able to bend the metal without much of a problem. Anything we can do to protect this place, let's try to do that. I'll see if I can think of anything else, too.. I think it's time to go raid a hardware store."

She bit her lip, and reached forward, squeezing Gabrielle's shoulder slightly, and giving her a little reassuring smile.

"It's better this way - we can try and help you, instead of you having to deal with this all by yourself.. you know? What else can we do these days, except try and help each other?"

Violet slowly approched the two young women waiting for an opportune moment to speak up. Catching up on the last question Jasmine just asked Violet nodded and added her own suggestion, "If you and your people need anything we could get you I'd make sure James would fetch you that on one of his scavenging runs. I think that's the least I can offer as... compensation to what happened to your people. I'm sorry we didn't find the time to talk, I would've loved to ask you a few questions but that'll have to wait. You're always welcomed at my place, though.", she gave Gabrielle a warm smile.

Again just approaching the Angel cast away any of her unusual thoughts and desires. It was as if Gabrielle could keep her 'just' Violet without the constant push of her libido. It was fascinating for her.

Dan moves up on them. "Is there any extra sheet metal or old dead cars somewhere here? anything we can use to reinforce the perimeter, or make a second smaller perimeter within the outer one?"

"The easiest way for them to get the retribution they want is to break the perimeter of this place, which would allow the zombies in. a secondary perimeter while confining, will negate any attack like that they may try."

"All who are not necessary to the defense effort should be in the most secure location, but we'll need as many as are able to get this done quickly and correctly."

She smiled gratefully at Violet, and unlike many had no issue keeping her eyes on Violet's face. "Thank you, that's very kind of you. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly and we can get together again for a less eventful visit. Safe journey home, Violet." She gave Violet a quick farewell hug, her usual good intentions and general goodwill apparent in the innocent gesture.

After seeing to her guests that were leaving, she turned back to Dan and Jasmine. "Well, unless they decide to try breaking down the secondary perimeter; that will depend on how much they value their vehicles over their anger." She shook her head, "I'm not worried about the fences, they can be repaired and we're all still on the second level of this housing. We can handle any zombies that get into this area, if that's all they decide to try to attack us with. I'm more concerned with any sort of disaster scenario, such as setting a wildfire, or any kind of suicide run they would make."

She nodded towards the women already gathering up travelling packs and placing them in the common room. "We'll move the most vulnerable and innocent of our people to the tunnels under the college, along with some guards in case of the stray Touched. My main concern right now is determining if those others are planning on retribution, and if so, what kind. If they were looking for direct confrontation, I think we'd have already been engaged, but just in case I'd like to have some non-lethal control methods available. Otherwise I want to make sure that the area is as fireproof as possible. Unless you can think of some other way besides zombies, bullets, or fire that they could try to take their revenge with."

She'd kept her voice low, and they were all in a corner of the room away from the rest of the community, but there was only so much square footage and only so low a voice could drop before becoming unintelligable. "I'm going to leave here in an hour or so to raid the city for supplies and see if I can track where they are now. Can you think of anything or anywhere I should look specifically?"

"There's alot of places for them to procure things they need but only a few I can think of to hide easily, and those are auto yards. "

The hammering of nonlethal agitated him. "They won't be coming with nonlethal intentions. I don't think they'd start a fire because this community is too big not to have a large supply cache somewhere within. Regardless of what is stated as their intent, they'd take your supplies too if they're willing to kill everyone."

She shrugged. "We offered them our supplies. If that was all they wanted, they're still welcome to it. As for their intentions, I'm well aware that they will probably not be as careful as us, nor care as much about the loss of life. That does not mean that we should respond in kind. Our actions are what brought them to this place of anger and revenge, our duty is to do what we can to help them while still preserving ourselves." She pursed her lips and regarded the Marine for a moment.

"If this isn't something you want to do or can do, please do not stress yourself on our behalf. We are grateful for the assistance offered, but we do not wish to escalate what is to come, or to involve those that do not wish to be. It is still our hope that this will not come to violence, we're simply not so naive as to not prepare for it."

"I'd prefer to not have to shoot anyone not already dead as well. I'm just trained to plan for the worst case scenario."

"If you ask me to not kill them unless it is truly nescessarry I will abide that request. I'm here to help you."

The last statment seemed bitten off as if he'd left part unsaid. "What would you like me to do?"

She nodded and said quietly, "Thank you." More loudly she said, "Could you work with Caleb on organizing our defenders and creating the most efficient defenses we can? You seem to know what you're doing, and we can use all the hands and heads we have here."

She lead him over to a small knot of men that were conferring over a hastily drawn map, intruding just long enough to introduce Dan and insure that they would listen to him. After that, she made sure Jasmine was wherever she was going to want to be, either with Dan and others going over defenses, or helping escort the non-combatants to the tunnels.

Once everything was set in motion and she wasn't needed specifically anymore, Gabrielle slipped onto the roof of the apartments and began her aerial survey of the city. She'd brought her usual shotgun and machete, and one of the over-sized backpacks they'd found in around the campus in case she was able to salvage things from the police station or anywhere else that caught her eye for something useful. The sun had just touched the horizon when she'd left, and she hoped to be able to find the caravan and collect her supplies before the light faded completely.

Violet savoured the hug as long as she could holding on to that feeling that Gabrielle radiated. It was almost the same she felt when her urges had been satisfied but with a far more peaceful note. Violet couldn’t quiet tell which she preferred but it felt good nonetheless. The contrast of the two supers couldn’t be more different as Violet released from the hug and briefly squeezed Gabrielle’s hands. She did hope for Gabrielle’s sake that nothing would happen to her and her community, even though she didn’t like their way of living.

Her eyes briefly washed over Jasmine and she suddenly hesitated to approach her. Instead of her usual good-bye ritual to kiss her gently on her forehead Violet just smiled and nodded to her. “Take care, Jas – don’t do anything stupid, ok?”

As she walked back to the truck she shivered in remembrance of Gabrielle’s aura… and the apparent lack of it now. With a heavy sigh Violet boarded Priest’s truck and waited to be brought home her thoughts still circling around the Angel of St. Magdalen…

Jasmine nodded at Violet and offered her a smile, though it looked a little tense. Violet could tell she was all business at the moment. But she reached out and caught the other woman's hand briefly, and gave it a light squeeze.

"Don't worry - I'll take care of myself. I've got too many responsibilities to take them lightly, Violet."

After the other woman had left, she had Gabrielle show her down to where she could help round up some of the less able residents to a secure location. But it went surprisingly quick, for with Gabrielle's followers there was no protesting or arguments. They did as they were asked, and as swiftly as possible. Jasmine wasn't sure if that was because of the way Elijah had treated them, or if it was because they were still in high-survival mode, building their community and warding off the zombies. They didn't have the luxuries some of the people at Fox's had gotten accustomed to - if by luxuries she meant not having to look over your shoulder every second of the day. But whatever the reason for their compliance, Jasmine was grateful for it, for it sped up the process.

Once she was finished with that, she began to wander around the rest of the outer fenced areas, trying to determine the best way to help with defense. The more she thought about it, the more she thought that it might be a good idea to try and funnel them in. If they tried to break through to do something to the people inside, at least they could try and make it so there would only be one way in or out. She began to jog through the perimeter, trying to find anything that would be useful in boarding up windows and doors to prevent entry from multiple locations. It would make things much easier to defend.

Necessity was, of course, the mother of invention. Jasmine found broken down cars and pulled off hoods, trunks, and roofs. She found scraps of sheet metal and leftover construction materials in a nearby dumpster, and a maintenance truck that still had a few random tools and hinges and stuff in it. Thanking her lucky stars, Jasmine collected everything in a big pile within the fence's perimeter. Then, she got to work.

She began to block off windows with the metal, figuring that would be the most difficult to remove. It was an old campus, and the building had a brick facade. That would've stopped most people, but not Jasmine, who was fortunate in that she was strong enough to pound the nails straight into the hard brick exterior. Fortunately, the nails were strong enough to hold up to the impact, which had been her primary concern. She hoped Gabrielle wouldn't mind these changes, but it was to protect her people, and Jasmine could always remove them later if needed.

She chose the already present fire doors to keep as additional exits in case they needed to get out of the building. They were metal already, but she used whatever materials she could find to strengthen the hinges, and she attached hooks on the inside to hold bars that she made using scraps of pipe and two by fours that she nailed together. That would keep them from being trapped inside if things were going south.

As she did all this, she hurried. She hurried because she didn't know what the possible invaders were planning. She hurried because she didn't want to be caught off-guard trying to prepare the place for an attack. She hurried because she wanted to give these people the best possible chance of survival. What she didn't realize was that as she hurried, she got faster. Her speed became that of someone who was practiced with this kind of work, and then became even faster. The pounding of the hammer was almost a blur as she worked, and the sound that accompanied it was almost mechanical in it's precision and quickness. She almost felt a burning running through her as she worked, but she ignored it as she kept moving, trying the whole time to push herself faster, so that these people would have a chance at safety.

Gabrielle took to air, worried about these strangers who were clearly up to no good. Back and forth she went over her city, looking and searching for signs.

She found four of the motorcyclists north of town, driving slowly in large circles. They were trailing a string of lumbering zombies like sick ducklings after their mother, and each pass gathered the attention of more of the zombies. Their intentions with the walking dead were not hard to determine.

With proof of their coming malfeasance before her eyes, Gabrielle headed home with a heavy heart. Just before she got home, she saw a truck parked near the college that she didn't recall seeing before. It was just dark enough that she couldn't see into the cab.

Dan began working on removing the Heavy machine gun and it's mount from the Humvee, and mounting it on a rolling cart to use on the roof of the building to better bring it's heavy firepower to bare whereever it was needed.

It took most of his time, but he managed to work a system where it could even roll on the slopes, stop and be fired and then be moved over to the other side and do the same.

Violet waited until the last of Priest’s crew boarded the truck and looked longingly back to Dan watching him talking to Gabrielle and Jas about how to set up a defensive perimeter. He’d be back – so he promised and Jas, too. Violet would hate the feeling if this was the last time she saw them alive.

James’ accident shattered her trust in the supers invincibility. They were still mortal and could still be hurt – it may take longer now or more firepower but they still bled and died eventually.

“What a terrible world this has become.”, she quietly said to herself. She sensed how a big cloud of emotional turmoil stirred in her stomach. There was her growing love for Dan, her worry about Jasmine and her troubled eyes as she spoke of Fox and the refuge. On top of that the conflict she was moving towards to when she got home – she had to talk to James because she couldn’t… wouldn’t want to go on like that. But she had make sure that Jill would be on her side first. It made her sick in the stomach to think like that and she definitely had a bad conscience about treating James like that – but he also hurt her on several occasions and she was getting tired of him already. Maybe she wasn’t ‘made’ for lasting relationships but following down that road would also mean to get into the same trouble with Dan.

Violet shook her head in frustration and wished she could just turn off that storm that was brewing inside her. It already took a good deal of her concentration to not ‘broadcast’ these feelings and keep them to her own. She needed some kind of distraction and her eyes found Rachel’s cleavage. The young woman was trying to keep little Pumpkin in good mood and played with her unsuspecting that Violet was watching them. Her dark thoughts slowly evaporated as Violet watched the young woman fantasizing about how she would perform if she had an hour alone with her. Her eyes glowed dimly under her hood and her smile was blissful. She’d need some kind of relief when she got back home, that’s for sure. Then she’d have to talk things through with Jill. But first things first.

The angel lighted down on the roof, frowning at the truck across the rapidly darkening distance between her and it. She checked to make sure that the bulk of her congragation had made the transitions to the tunnels, and let Caleb and the others know what she had seen while aloft. She left the last minute planning to her followers after arguing briefly with Caleb about who should investigate the truck. Several of the men would be watching her from rooftops (for at least as far as they'd be able to see in the gloom), but she headed back outside the compound alone and armed. She made her way to truck and approached with a tense nervousness but without any attempt at stealth.

"Are you alright in there?" She called out, holding her arms out so they could see that she was unarmed. "It really isn't safe on the ground if this is where you're planning on spending the night. Most of the buildings have been at least partially cleared out, but they'll sense you by morning and crowd the truck. If you won't come stay with us, please either get out to the highway where they'll be less of them, or on one of the rooftops. The library's been cleared completely once already, and the fire-door on the roof is still intact. That's probably the safest place on campus that isn't part of St. Magdalen's. Do you need anything? Blankets? Food? Flashlights? We don't have many flashlights, but Emma found one of those tornado wind-up radio/floodlight combinations. It'll light up a room easy enough, if you want to try the library or some other building."

As was her usual way now, she spoke with sincerity and honesty as waited just outside the truck to see if the person inside would answer her.

"No, we're fine," the man, though he seemed a bit freaked that she was talking to him. Gabrielle could see that they were armed and had a bit of food with them. The man was bearded and looked like a typical refugee; the woman had taken more care with her appearance.

"We'll be pushing on soon enough," the woman said nodding. "Don't worry about us none." She smiled, all butter and ice.

All looked to be well - and then a gust of wind brought the sharp stink of gasoline to Gabrielle's nose.

She looked down for a moment, her expression worried and sad. Quietly she asked, "Then is there no way we can appease you without violence? So many have already been hurt or lost, is there no way to move forward without more bloodshed and death?"

She looked back up to the two in the truck, waiting for an answer with her wings drawn close around her as if they could ward off the inpending conflict. Her shotgun and her machete were still strapped in their places; she'd never reached or moved towards them, even after the discovery of their intent.

"This isn't violence," the woman said, all smug and snotty self-righteousness. "This is burning the trash, bitch. You might look like an angel, but your a demon, and you burn demons!"

The man just looked at the steering wheel, his face set in some very uncomfortable lines.

"Honestly," the woman hissed, "the world will be better off without you or your fucking enclave, ready to make us sick again."

"We're not trying to make you sick again. We're trying to help." The insults didn't seem to register with the winged young woman. Her voice dropped softer still, "Elijah used to say the same thing. That the world would be better off without certain people in it. It's sad that in being touched by his darkness, you've let it consume you. You still have no blood on your hands to need redemption from."

There was no accusation or rancor in her voice, only a sincere sorrow that it seemed this pointless violence would occur, the last part directed at the man staring at the wheel in front of him. She turned away from the truck, knowing she needed to report it to Caleb and the others. She stopped a few steps away from the truck and turned back, adding, "The food stores and major supplies are in the apartment directly off the main room of the apartment building on the second floor. There's probably enough for a season or two for your people, if you want it. There's also more canned food in the kitchens around the school, if you need it, although we haven't cleared those areas out yet so you might have some fighting for it with the undead. Just knock on the gate if you change your minds about the blankets. Or the flashlight. Everyone can use a guiding light in these times."

With that, she turned her back on them and headed towards home.

The truck finally arrived at the refuge and Violet quickly excused herself not wanting to stick around any time longer near Rachel unless her urges decided to take control and take the girl with her. Her mind was burning with desire and she had a hard time shaking off the images of Rachel and her under the shower… in her bedroom… on top of her…

“Gosh…”, she exhaled while she ran towards the club. Need cold shower… now

Violet entered the building and shut the door behind her breathing intensively. Her hands involuntarily cupped her huge breasts and started to knead them.

“Nonono…”, she shook her head and tried to fight it off. She needed sex… and she needed it badly. Her eyes flashed with an insatiable hunger and she ran upstairs to their quarters. Hold it back, Violet… hold it back.

The heat was getting unbearable and she was driven by instinct. James must’ve been here somewhere – he simply must. She checked frantically all doors but no one was home. A desperate cry left her throat and she ran to the showers and turned them on full cold. Violet didn’t waste time getting undressed and felt the cold water soothing the burning sensation but just for a little bid.

Taking deep breathes she tried to focus again and finally managed to get a few clear thoughts. Change back, that’ll stop it… change back!

Violet closed her eyes and relaxed for a few seconds and turned off the source of her power. In her minds eye she saw herself reluctantly pull the plug to that wonderful well of amazing power that gave her these extraordinary abilities and this unparalleled body. To the watchers eye Violet’s body shrank and ‘collapsed’ in itself her exaggerated curves ‘melting’ under the water as if she was made of sugar until it revealed her true self underneath the ‘coating’.

Jennifer opened her eyes the incredible sexual urge just a faint echo somewhere in the back of her mind. Her small breasts and slimmer body looked lost in the wet bodice of Violets but her nipples were s till erect as an indicator of how close she was to losing it. Jennifer shivered both physically and emotionally as she turned off the shower. Slowly she undressed and got herself into a bathrobe. She needed a good warm coffee now and some company would really be nice. Unfortunately all she could do was waiting… waiting and hoping that Dan and Jas would come back soon. Unharmed.

"You smelled gas?" Caleb asked, his eyes worried. "You know, we should go out there and detain and disarm them. Bobby's pretty good at skulking around, he could probably get close enough to get a gun on them before they could see him. Unless you have a better idea, Gabrielle?"

They were looking to her again, waiting for her to make the call that might mean their injury or death. They didn't seem worried as they waited for her statement.

She bit her lip, thinking, then nodded. "Take Dan or Jasmine with you, whoever of the two of them is better at being unseen. Detain them and put them, with a guard, with the others in the tunnel. They might have moved the truck now, since I approached them, so be careful when looking for them. Also, make sure you get any communication devices they have. I don't want them to be able to endanger our safe haven once we get them there."

Jasmine studied Caleb's expression thoughtfully after he had approached her and Dan with the suggestion. She bit her lip slightly, looking thoughtful.

"Well, I don't know how sneaky I can be - I've never really tried, other than against zombies. But I can probably disarm them anyway without hurting them - I'm pretty fast, when I put my mind to it. I can move and react faster than most people. So if you want me to disarm them, I could probably do that without hurting anyone, though I can't promise they wouldn't see it coming."

"That's fine. Honestly, I think it'd be better to have Dan here anyways. They're herding a group of zombies towards us, and from what I've seen, Dan probably has the best grip on tactics of any of us. Just be safe and try not to hurt them." She gave Jasmine directions to where she'd seen them, and then hug for good luck before the woman headed out.

Dan watched them go. "Probably for the best, even if I can sneak up better." He went back to his work and got the big .50 cal into place. He looked to Gabrielle. "I trust that should their herd get in the perimeter you have no issue with me doing crowd control?"

She smiled at the Marine and placed a hand lightly on the large gun. "Not at all. Have you ever heard the phrase 'tria mera', Dan? It means three days in Latin. The soul has left the body and met the Lord by three days after death. Those walking corpses aren't people; they're flesh gripped by evil and whatever poison has been unleashed upon our world. By all mean, put those gross parodies of life to their final rest. They're empty husks."

She patted the gun and favored him with one last smile that held genuine gratitude for the effort he was putting forth on their behalf.

Jasmine nodded, hugging the other woman in return and heading out. She made her way to a vantage point, so she could get a good view of the truck to see if people were still in there, and if it were still in the location Gabrielle had noticed it in. She focused her hearing to see if she could overhear anything being said in the truck, and observed for a few moments to gather any information she could.

The couple was quiet, watching the big building before them. Jasmine was about to inch forward when she heard the radio crackle. "This is Comet's Head, we have a good tail going. Prom Date, give them the rosy kiss."

"Roger," the woman said, climbing out of the truck.

"Wait, are we sure?" the man asked.

"Yeah, she did have nice tits," the woman snapped. "Think with your head, not your cock." She opened the camper shell as the guy started the truck. Jasmine could see a large water tank in the back, and the woman pulled out a hose. She started to spray the area with something that wasn't water, as he began to ease the vehicle forward.

It was enough to spur her into action. She had a fairly good guess what the plan was, once she saw the woman begin to withdraw the hose. Of course, by that time she was already moving, letting herself slip into an inhuman speed that spurred her towards the man wielding the steering wheel. After all, if anything happened, she far rather have it be as far away from the compound as possible. Even if she wasn't James, she was a lot more likely to be able to survive a fireball than a solid building would be able to, or any of the other people inside save perhaps Dan and Gabrielle.

The man had barely started edging the truck forward by the time she reached the truck, taking the last leap to catch onto the side of the truck so she would be able to reach through the window.

"Jesus!" the driver yelped, his eyes wide over his ratty beard. He jerked away from the form jumping at him and slammed into a fence. After screeching along the side of it for a bit, he jerked the other way.

"Brian! You fuck!" the woman in the back screamed. "What are you- Shit!"

Those watching from the building could see this, but they could see three other trucks starting to move, their headlights becoming visible in the gathering darkness.

Gabrielle stifled a innapropriate utterance for a teenager and motioned Caleb and Dan over to her. "Change of plans. If those other three trucks are also gasoline trucks, then they intend to set at least the entire campus on fire. Dan, can you take care of one of them? Just disable the truck, if you can, and disable the people if you can do so without putting yourself in too much danger. Caleb, choose three of your best men and send them after another truck. I'll go after the third."

She pointed to each one as she set up the people to go after them. "Caleb, you stay here to coordinate, and put our best mark on the big gun until Dan gets back, okay? Let's stop this fire before it starts."

Dan chuckles. "Of course I can."

He hefts his Battle Rifle and smiles, taking to the air. , taking aim at the front wheels first.
