History: Tak Fai Pang, or Mike as he is commonly known, was concieved by the youngest daughter of Chinese restaurant after a big Chinese New Year party in the restauarant. Unfortunately her subsequent pregnancy stopped her starting at College and her father was ashamed of her for years. This lead to her being given the jobs that kept her out of the public areas. The young Tak was spared a lot of this, at least once he was old enough to walk. Perhaps because even as a toddler he spent a lot of his time rolling, climbing and jumping around the place. He quickly learnt not to do this in the kitchen or the main restaurant, but later on he learnt that if he was careful he could use these skills to entertain and to sneak the choicest treats from the kitchen.

Things changed for Tak when he was 5 years old, both in starting school and with the death of his mother. At school he soon learned that he could be popular with the other children by the stunts he pulled, but he also found that he constant tumbling and climbing had honed his body enough to stand up to the few bullies he encountered. At the restaurant his Grandfather had relented and allowed his mother to once more serve in the front of the restaurant, interacting with the customers. However, she had only been doing so for a few months when there was a robbery attempt that ended up with his mother and two of the robbers laying dead on the restaurant floor. The robbers from a couple of plain clothes police who had been in for a birthday party when the robbery began, his mother from a robbers bullet, trying to force obedience. Being without either parent now Mike was more than ever looked after by the various Aunts and Uncles who worked in or lived nearby the restaurant.

Following the loss of his mother Tak went through a period of being even more boisterous and difficult to control. Eventually his Grandfather arranged for him to learn Kung FU, the Wu Shu style, a subject to which he was well suited. As he got older he also went into gymnastics, attaining a high place in both city and state competitions over a number of years. Although his Grandfather's plan worked to some degree, he did calm down a little, it didn't stop his pranks and it gave him a better chance to deal with the few bullies left in his school. When he reached 16 he had being studying Wu Shu for over 10 years, and he felt drawn to look into other styles of Kung FU - quickly taking up the unusual but gymnastic Monkey style. With time he made his way through school with a reasonable academic record, but poor overal school record due to the various pranks he pulled at least a couple of times a year, if not semester.

Last year, just before finishing High School they had a little problem at the restaurant, the Triad decided it was time that they, amongst others in Chinatown, started paying 'insurance'. Tak (known as Mike to his English speaking friends) was against it, as were several of his Uncles, but when a Triad, Cousin Snake, came in with a few others and threatend to bust the place up, and did beat up a few of the waiters, his Grandfather soon caved in. Cousin Snake came around a few times after that, and eventually struck a friendship with Tak, even apologising for the damage as a 'business necessity'.

A month or so later there was a strange old master visiting his Monkey style class who insisted on seeing how everyone coped with using weapons. Tak had started working with weapons several years before hand, being drawn to the Staff and clubs/batons, as being easily picked up around the home (or restaurant) if necessary. Thus he managed to out do the rest of the class in this area and was invited to study with the odd old man the following day. Tak turned up and had the hardest class of his life, but at the end of it the master revealed himself to be Tak's father and the God Sun Wukong! Tak took some convincing, but once he believed he took the potential impact of the Celestial War seriously. Before he left Sun Wukong gifted him with a staff with some of the powers of his own, namely the ability to change it's size so that it could be better concealed, and bade him to remember his mother well. Tak soon found that the staff did more than Monkey had said, it allowed him to inspire those fighting with him to greater efforts (War Purview) and to take great leaps (Sky Purview). He also went through the things left behind of his mothers, a few boxes still in the attic of the restaurant, in which he found two further items that he felt must

have been gifts to her at some stage. One was a locket that she always wore, although Tak remembered that her father, his grandfather, never liked seeing her wearing it, the front was carved with the ideogram for Beast, whilst inside he found a sample of short, coarse, brown/red hair. The other was his mother's book of the I Ching, a medium sized, red leather bound book that she used to consult when telling someones fortune or checking the

auspiciousness of one of Grandfather's decisions. After that he was also able to identify Cousin Snake as the son of another god of the Celestial Bureaucracy which has put their friendship on a firmer footing, having something more both in common and that separates them from others.

Since meeting his father Tak has started college, but he continues with his martial arts studies, and also his pranks and gymnastics. He also spends some of his time wandering the city, and especially Chinatown for any signs of Titanspawn or other things that do not fit in with the way that Heaven and Earth should run.
