OK Boons bought with BPs cost 5 (or 4 if favored) Bonus Points PER DOT.

Example: Bob wants the 3 dot War Boon. He has no other War boons and it is not one of his Parent's purviews. He pays 15 Bonus Points for that boon.

Example: Kelly wants the 2 dot Animal Boon. Animal is a purview of her parent. It costs her 8 BPs to purchase.

Example: Theo, a Scion of Thor, wants to have Jotunblut 3, but he did not allocate any dots to it already. He pays 4 BPS for rank 1, 4 BPS more for rank 2, and 4 BPs more for rank 3. The total cost would be 12 BPs.

Not to kick you in the nuts dude but I think authors should be permitted to write what they please. I'm not a fan of the Epic-App smut either, especially since a few players seem to take the same character into every game and rinse repeat the same hardcore porn for an endless amount of pages...

There are two things though, one, I think there is a difference between explicit sex scenes and 'smut'. If players wish to write a free standing fiction that involves a love scene or even just balls to the ball boning then I, as a person, don't see anything wrong with that. I could refer everyone to a long list of 'R' rated movies where the sex scenes were incredibly explicit and raw.

If the tag has 'Mature' and we don't wanna read it, then we just should avoid it.

Second, NC-17 is not just a sexual thing. Something that possesses too much gore or pushes the envelope of taboo can also be considered NC-17. Naked Cheval rituals and the act of tearing out a sacrifices heart for Itzli powers... Crushing your opponents skull or tearing the eye of a cyclops from its socket in grizzly detail... all of these are NC-17 worthy acts and all of them have a place in the Scion world, along with the sex. If you rule out NC-17 smut then you should, in fairness to those authors who seem to excel at only that, rule out NC-17 all together which will really kill the game's mood.

It's for this reason that I'd like request for things to work on the "we're all adults here" common sense rule. If people are offended easily, or don't want to 'see' a particular type of fiction than they should just ignore that fiction... seriously.

One caveat... if an ST is running a story and those love scenes or what not are just slowing things down, then yes, the ST should simply hurry those players forward and get on with things.

I just feel that all fictions are better and the authors perform their best when they're not restricted in what they can do. I'm sure we're also all mature enough to understand that when those antics slow down the game or disrupt the story then obviously restrictions are necessary while that story is taking place.

Do the bonus dice from Arete for the Athletics ability apply to DV?

I'm going to rule that they do not. My logic being that DV is not rolled and Arete grants bonus dice or re-rolls to Arete rolls. If anybody locates and can provide an official answer to that question (either supporting or supplanting my ruling) we will abide by said Official answer.

Updated the rules thread. The answer is no for the same reaons

Quote:
Ability: The geas-bound character gains a Geas Bonus to all rolls using a single Ability for as long as he maintains enech in that geas...Token: Rolls with Ability gain the Geas Bonus as extra dice to roll; Potent: Rolls with Ability add the Geas Bonus as automatic successes to rolls.

Basically much like Arete this adds to the rolls and not the ability itself. A subtle distinction but one I will stick with until it is proven to be otherwise. laugh

That was my mistake. When I set up the forum I accidentally set it to only display posts from the last day instead of all posts. I have updated the preference.

If for some reason you don't see the post, look at the bottom of the forum listing page and make sure Show Topics is set to "from all dates" and not "active in the last day."

Sorry about that.

FYI to ALL PLAYERS:

Drinking age in Mass is 21+ years old

Strip Club requires min age of 18 if they don't serve booze, and 21+ if they have a liquor license. The former are pretty rare and the latter are usually very strict because loss of their liquor license is tantamount to bankrupcy.

IIRC from talking with Asa - Venus is 21+, as such Nick and Reider either need to grow up instantly or risk bringing down the wrath of Fate. (there are at least 8 legendary beings in the club or just outside)

Just a question - why does Fate care if they're of legal drinking age? I'm not doubting that such a thing is possible, but to me there doesn't seem to be a reason that Fate would care.

Fate wouldn't "care" so much as it would simply twist and pull the strands of peoples lives. Having 8 legendary beings in such close quarters mean some pretty major stuff is going down and Fate is spinning this pattern. Maybe nothing would happen, maybe a SWAT team would shop up claiming to have gotten a bomb threat called in. Maybe there'll be a huge MFing rumble between the Scions and Gods only know what.

Its not likely that a single lone cop would show up and randomly card the people in the club just for shits & giggles. I'll grant that. But the skein of Fate is full of threads at the moment and you never know what that will mean.

Translation: 'When' all of us end up in jail there will be questions on 'why are there underage people in the club'.

I've changed N's age to 21... although for various reasons it's probably a moot point. He doesn't drink no matter what age he is.

Oooops, completely missed Nick's age. Sapphire was letting her cousin in, but wasn't letting him drink. She knows it's against the law, but he's an idiot, and it's better to keep an eye on him. If she gets busted for this, well hopefully she can just pay a fine, then she'll chain him up outback with Bob. grin

I think the flaw is twofold:

1) It -is- illegal and;

2) It doesn't matter (to the cops) that he didn't know.

As an addenda:

3) It's pretty obviously illegal, in that anyone looking at him can see he's got a sword, and could easily decide to inform the authorities.

BEWARE!
