Ryan came to attention quickly, throwing Cam a salute which was returned and then he relaxed. "It's a pleasure to meet you both."

His eyebrows arch a little in suprise. "You mean they're gonna let you off base to go shopping? Yeah I'm definitely in. I need a new pair of boots anyway. My old ones have worn out." He looked to Gwyn and Caine and nodded. "Besides, cooperation between the teams is encouraged isn't it?"

He smiles. "I haven't had a meal that didn't come from the Mess in ages, and I heard from some people there was a good little joint in town that had an all you can eat buffet for relatively cheap."

At the sight of Ryan Hawke, Yseult's mouth dropped open before she had a chance to catch it. Cam and Gwyn could feel her stiffen for a moment, before, with an effort, she continued on. Mon Dieu! For a second, I thought François was coming down the hall. But this man is even bigger and more muscular, and his face isn't as gorgeous.

Her smile for Hawke was strained to anyone who looked closely. "C'est une plaisir, Majeur Hawke. The more people, the better. And I too would like a real meal. Perhaps a glass of wine as well."

"Wine? That would be nice, I don't think I've had a good wine in the last couple of years." He noticed her stiffen abit but said nothing to draw attention to it. "So then, let's haid down to the motorpool and get some transport, maybe one of the Vans from the sound of how much shopping is being planned." He smiled his infectious grin.

"I don't believe that with a Colonel and two Majors flanking him we'll have much of an issue procuringing whatever we need."

Cam followed along being escorted by the two ladies. He returned Major Hawke's salute and greeting. "Good to meet you major." Speaking to the group, "This should be fun. It's been at least seven months since I've had solid food of any kind. Apparently food is optional now for me, but my body sure is craving it like it's going out of style. Dr. Frasier had me fasting since I arrived last night as part of one of her diabolical tests, but I'm allowed to eat now and I'm pretty eager to get too it. How bout we fuel up with a good lunch in town before we hit the shopping?"

Yseult raised her eyebrows upon hearing that Cam no longer needed to eat. Gaining new abilities is one thing, but no longer needing basic biological functions, no sleep, no food, is another. Are the ones exposed to the artifact, myself included, no longer human?

"That sounds splendid Cam. One requires much energy to do a good job shopping," she said, shoving her concerns for what they were becoming aside for another time.

Gwyn nods to Cam, "You got that as well? I haven't particularly tried fasting deliberately, but while most of the Specialists are stacking up two or three times the normal amount of food at every meal and some having snacks as well, I have been eating normally or less and occassionally skipping meals without noticing it when I get absorbed in some work. Here's another thing to try, with some precautions in place though, high altitude, I had no ill effects at 5km. Or more easily I do half an hour of lengths of the pool without coming up every night."

Grinning to Yseult, "A good meal is always appreciated, especially with such fine company. In addition it will let you ladies plan your campaign. I've learnt that hitting the right shops in the right order can be important."

Hanging back a moment with Colonel Carter he smiles warmly to her and gives her an easy parting salute,

"Col. Carter, I think they have him outnumbered and surrounded. I really outta see what I can do to help. Be seeing your around."

There was no longing there. Just a general desire to be in her company when desired.

With that he turns smartly and leaves to catch up with the rest. He gives an easy salute to Hawke, picking up on the conversation as the does.

"I'm your wingman, Cam, and if you are teaching people to fly, I'll be first ... well, second in that line. It's like I know how, but have no real experience with it. It's been something I've been meaning to get out of the way."

Gwyn turns to Damien, "Hey, if we move the range and sparring to the 0100 to 0400 slot we would have the whole morning free for piloting lessons. I've already started looking at some of the academic side of the subject."

To the ladies, "So ladies, what do you feel like eating at the moment?"

Yseult just shakes her head at the mention of 24-hour plans for training and such. I hope they aren't going to suffer any effects from sleep deprivation. There is a difference between what the body can endure and what the mind can.

To Gwyn and Ryan:

"I would like to eat someplace that is not self-serve, if you please. If it has a wine list, so much the better."

To Cam:

"If you cannot recover your 68 Camero, Cameron, I may know where you can find the remnants of one. I do know there is the skeleton of a 69 Charger there. My... husband runs a body shop on the outskirts of Montreal, specializing in classic cars. He has all sorts of pieces and parts for such, including a fair number bodies and engines in the back."

Gwyn looks across the party as they go up in the lift, "Hmm, sorry Yseult, but dressed like this I think we'll have to get a buffet or a diner for pre-shopping. Then we can go somewhere decent after we have the clothes to suit. How about the Warehouse, I over heard Lee and Carter mention it a week or so ago and it sounded a good place?"

As the group rides the lift, Yseult looks down at her BDUs in disgust, a soft curse escaping her. "You are right of course, Gwyn. The idea of real food must have scrambled my wits." She looks up at Gwyn, her gentle grin and a nod signifying agreement. "The Warehouse is très merveilleux, I have eaten there many times."

"Oh, and dinner in a nice place would have been such a pleasent change of space. Picked up a nice suit in DC last leave," he joked. It was the profession, not the crowd, that dictated were he often ate and what kind of faire. He usually ate for the company anyhow. Food was secondary.

"Anywhere is good. The Quality of the company makes the meal." In that he was totally sincere.

"Ooh, you have been very kind, Olivie," Yseult said, reaching across Cam to brush an appreciative hand on Olivia's arm. "Let me treat you and your brother to dinner, and whoever else you have invited." Her lips quirked into a wistful smile, the look in her eyes hidden by her glossy, black glasses. "The life insurance policy on... me... was quite significant, and I have little else to spend my salary on." Her smile turns slightly self-mocking. "Well, clothes too, it seems."

"So here's an idea. It's still lunch time now. We go hit someplace a bit quicker and serving large portions just to fuel us up for shopping, then after we've spent a ton of cash we can all dress in our new duds for dinner at the Warehouse in something other than BDUs? How's that sound to you folks? Of course that means coming back here after shopping, but we'll need to unload the loot anyway."

Looking at Damien, "Well, as for the flying, the General tells me they have a pair of 302s at the Alpha Site. I think I can get clearance to give you boys some lessons. Me? I'm itching to get my hands on some alien craft and see how they compare. I'll need to do some studying on the tech first, but that leads me to my next question." He turned to Olivia, "I hope you don't mind but I'd love to attend your briefings. I've got a great deal of catching up to do and you folks are a good month or more ahead of me."

"Not a problem," Olivia told him happily. On some level, she was aware that her smile was a touch too friendly and warm, but she couldn't help it - she loved to be appreciated for her mind, and Cam was handsome. Plus, he had a strange draw; it reminded her of the way Damien could be. "Knowledge is meant to be shared. If we hide it, then it can't grow."

She spoke to the group, "In fact, anyone's welcome to come - we meet at 1300 hours, daily."

"Yes, let us go. Some quick food, followed by lots of shopping, and then a fine supper with fine company. What more can one ask for?" She includes everyone with a warm look, though her glance towards Major Hawke is very brief.

Her smile tightens when she hears Olivia's assertion about the sharing of knowledge. Not all knowledge should be shared. Unfortunately. "I would definitely like to attend some of your lectures, Olivie. I have been letting my Daniel-isms lapse as of late."

Yseult can't quite keep a pang of envy from festering inside her, examining these 'specialists'. Her power is amazing, there is no doubt. But she can see the fires burning in their eyes; she notices the casual strength and precision in their movements; has heard them ignoring the base rigors of human life. And she finds herself wanting.

Ryan nods. "Sounds like a aood plan to me."

When Olivia made her invite he smiled. "Count me in, possibly more of my team. I'm doing all I can tomake sure everyone on it learns what they need to know to do our jobs."

When they finally get to the motorpool, he signed out one of the vans, something large enough for all of them and a fair amount of goods and took the Wheel for the drive into town.

"So first we hit the Warehouse, then we'll go from there right?" He drove effortlessly out of the base and into town.

Yseult stopped for a moment before entering the van. She put away her glasses and removed a small, plastic case from a pocket. She opened it, removing a pair oversized contacts from the clear liquid. With some effort, she managed to insert them to her satisfaction, eyes blinking rapidly as she adjusted to the odd contacts. She looked at everyone, her eyes still an intense turquoise, but the irises reduced to a normal diameter. "Calisse! I hate these things, but it will help reduce questions and attention."

Yseult squeezed in next to Damien in the front, and began directing Ryan to the best mall in Colorado Springs. "The Citadel in a good enough mall, but someday Olivie, we should drive up to Castle Rock, to the Outlook. They have some great shopping there."

Seeing Yseult putting her contacts in Gwyn calls forward to her, "Damien and you will draw attention anyway Yseult, but I know what you mean. There is attention, and attention, after all."

He then addresses the incredibly handsome Major, "That reminds me Damien, what was it like on your road trip the other week? Did you get noticed much?"

"With both Kyria and Steve? I'm sure you did," Olivia said from her seat next to Cameron. She'd realized what she'd done only after the fact, and with a mental rebuke, she resolved to pay more attention to what she was doing in the future. After all, she was trying to uncomplicate her life, not make it worse.

Glancing at Yseult, she said, "I haven't gotten out to Colorado Springs much - I defer to your judgment."

"Oh, we all got noticed, but mainly myself and Specialist Donnighal. We have a more human than human air about us and it can make things difficult. It does help getting through the bureaucracy thought. It's all about using what you have to help out those around you."

He grins to Gwyn,
"I hope the SGC team system will work to keep us all grounded, so to speak. It is easy to get a Super-Human feeling with all that we can do, like say Flying."

Yseult gave Oliva a look of commiseration. "I got out of Montagne Cheyenne whenever possible, Olivie, to go home to Montreal if I could, Colorado Springs or Castle Rock if not. Do not stay under the montagne, for your own sanity."

A warm grin passed across Yseult's face as she heard Damien and Gwyn talk about flying. Perhaps they will remember they are just men and not supermen. I have seen, and felt, what happened to SG-1 when they were exposed to the Atoneek Armbands.

A quick glance in the sideview mirror, and she understood what Gwyn meant about drawing attention. It was still jarring to see that stunning, exotic face in the mirror and realize that is was her looking back.

There was an unaccustomed flutter in her stomach as she became fully aware that she was sitting pressed next to a truly beautiful man. She closed her eyes, and desparately pulled up images of her husband, trying to dispel Damien's presence. It is unnatural for a man to be so... appealing. She let out a long sigh. It was going to be a long day.

Ryan laughed at the interplay between Gwyn and Damien. "Flying is great, though it does sorta make you stand out abit."

He took direction to the mall well, and soon they were pulling up in the parking lot near the food court.

He looked to the others. "All ashore that's going ashore." He climbed out of the Van, smiling at the feeling of the real sun on his skin. He put they keys in his pocket and waited for the others. All the time in SGC had barely let him out on this world, and i felt good to feel "home."

Damien steps out and offers his hand to Yseult,

"Coming, My Lady?"

The young Major seems to take great comfort in the latest Specialist's presence, incredibly at ease. It certainly didn't hurt that she was both attractive and not in his unit.

"Are you okay," he says in a concerned whisper. "You seem a bit ... distracted. Is there anything I can do?"

Olivia hopped out of the van and looked at the mall. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been to one of these; she tended to stick to smaller stores for her shopping. But this was a fun outing and Olivia set her preferences aside. She started to ease up to Yseult to ask her where to start, but saw Damien bending close and decided to stay back for a moment. It was nice to see him interacting with a woman his age.

"So," she said, turning to Cam, "what do you normally wear? What did you wear before your accident?" She smiled. "Wouldn't want to get you things that would make you uncomfortable."

Cam shrugged, "I'm a pretty casual kinda guy. Mostly jeans and such. I do want to get a good pair of boots though while we're out. Need some dress clothes as well for dinner tonight, other than that I just need to restock the basics really."

Ryan chuckles. "Must be nice to be someone that the basics aren't fatigues." He smiles and nods. "Come to think of it I need dress clothes too, the only thing I've got that's fancy is my dress uniform and I doubt we'd be waring those tonight."

Yseult hesitated a moment before accepting Damien's arm. "Merci, Monsieur," she said with a gracious nod.

As she stepped closer to the devastating man, she guiltily felt her tension ease away, like magic. She gave another sigh, then spoke in a voice as soft as his, a sad soprano . "I am still coming to terms with the loss of my husband, Damien, or I should more properly say, his loss to me. You know, just a little bit more three weeks ago, they buried me, my old body, the one you knew. So technically, I am no longer married, but it does not feel that way to me."

"Nor am I accustomed to some of the... sensations this body generates, feelings I have not had for some time, at least not for anyone not François." Damien could see a vivid blush bloom in Yseult's cheeks, when out of the corner of her eye, she saw a group of young men, nor more than twenty years old, openly admire the tight fit of her BDUs, a woman who appeared barely older than they. "There are other things that are taking time to get used to as well."

"Well, for me the basics are fatigues too, but those will be free from the quartermaster and I prefer to wear civvies when I'm off base. I used to have an apartment off base where I was stationed last, but with the quarters as nice as they are I think I'll skip that here and save some money."

Gwyn nods at the comments about living on base, "To be frank, I'd be lost living off base now days. At least there I have the facilities like the pool, gym and range that I can use while the rest of you sleep. i think I'd go crazy trying to keep myself occupied and undercover off base."

He also basks in the sun and the wind, "Damn good to get out for while though. Have to remember to go for some runs on the surface now we're not restricted to base anymore, and to explore the city. This is my first time in Colorado Springs."

Yseult looks at the others with mild surprise. Do none of them have families to go home to? This could lead to a problem, if they form attachments to no one else but other 'Specialists'. "Well to each their own, yes? For me, I don't think I could ever see Montagne Cheyenne be my home." But what else is there for me now?

Yseult continued into in The Citadel Mall, pointing out directions. "The food court is this way, the Dillards is over there, and there is a Macy's at the opposite end of the mall." Her cheeks faintly coloured. Again. "With a Victoria's Secret nearby. Ahead, pass the food court, there is also a Burlington's Coat Factory."

"Hmmm ... if I had to bury my old life tomorrow, I would hardly be missed. To have a husband and children ... to not be able to go back to a life you once built up and knew so well."

Damien shakes his head in shared sorrow.

"I'm afraid I can never truly appreciate your new place in life. All I have is here on base, with the teams. Sure, I have some old Army friends, but we rarely stay in touch due to the nature of the posting and kind of work we do. Most of the ones I know best are in Iraq now, fighting their own war. How can I explain mine to them?"

"Take heart though. This place is about miracles. One day there may be a way for you to become part of your Loved One's lives again. It wouldn't be the strangest thing to have happened. So, relax and enjoy yourself. You have us, you have now, and you have the promise of what tomorrow brings."
