billy shakes his head, "Sorry Khalid, I know you are eager to get going, but we need to spend at least one day gathering supplies for the trip. If we can arrive with supplies to spare as well as the salvage and information it won't harm getting acceptance from those that remained."

Fingers sighed. "Can't wait to get back to civilization myself... but I'd rather not starve too. So I'll help you guys look for supplies. Or salvage. Maybe someone left something of worth behind."

Tim snorts. "Doubt it. Looks like they had time to clean things out."

"It doesn't hurt to look," Fingers pointed out. She looked around the circle. "Is that the plan?"

Well, the ship is large. How long should we take?

"How about we stay here for two more days, looking for stuff. Those of us how have foraged will go out in teams again tomorrow. We shouldn't exhaust the local area in that amount of time. Hopefully we should even gain some spare supplies for the trip."

He looks to Fingers,

"Yeah, I guess that's the plan. We should get a good night's sleep. Two days isn't long to go over the ship."

Billy nods as he absently whittles a chunk of branch, "Yeah, a couple of days should give us enough to make it down there. We could also make some torches and check some of the ship at night to partially make up for the number of people on foraging duty during the day."

Not entirely comforted, Rochelle wraps her arms around her knees where she sits and rocks a little, side to side.

Laina showed the others where she'd been working on salvaging what she could of the Manifest and made suggestions on where they might find emergency supplies or missed stashes of stuff that might be useful.

"I'll go out tomorrow and see what I can scrounge up, too. I've been here for a little while, so I've found some areas that seem to have better luck with food. No meat, though. Ever since....well, since we got here, I just can't seem to....I guess I'm vegetarian now. Hope no one minds if all I bring in is plants. Everyone should probably spend some time looking for food, otherwise it'll take us forever to get enough to travel and not have to go hunting while we travel."

With that she settled in for the night and headed out before dawn the next morning to see what she could find.

She came back twice in the morning, toting along enough food for everyone to have breakfast and little left over, as well as some strange fruits she handed out one to each person save herself and Roche. Some recognized them as goblin fruits and knew the benefit of having them on hand. She disappeared quickly back into the forest and was gone until long after sunset. When she did return it was with a bounty of food and two more of the strange fruits. She laid one of the fruits next to Roche's sleeping place and kept one in her own pack. There wasn't enough food to get them all to through the next day and the two travelling days after, but it was a good start closer than they had been.

Khalid headed out in his own direction and promptly ran into something out there with him that seemed to be stalking his path and ruining his chances of finding stuff. This didn't bode well for the rest of the day.

Like the others Billy heads out for day of foraging, calling Fingers out occassionally to bring stuf back to camp for him so that he can concentrate on what he is doing.

It had been hard work, but Billy was happy that he had managed to bring enough for the whole group for a day or two. If the others had done as well then they might have gotten enough in a single day of foraging. However, as he had already said extra would be good. He looked forward to seeing how well Tim had done.

The last thing she wanted to do was tail after Billy, so she pretended not to hear him. Instead, Saffron helped Billy ferry stuff around.

Fingers had meant to work more, but after five hours, she was bored. Sighing, she slipped further away, using the shadow of the ship to hide her from the others. Stripping off her clothes, she went skinny dipping for a few hours, until she'd been gone long enough. Then she slipped back to camp with her offerings.

That next morning Laina surveyed the copious amounts of food they had all gathered, more than enough for over a week for all of them, and smiled. Once they had all gathered for breakfast she decided to voice her opinion.

"We've gathered much more than we need in food right now, and the extra would make a great starting gift the settlement, maybe a good way to show our intentions. Why don't we head out today? Once we've gotten to the settlement and gotten in, we can see about getting an actual salvage crew up here to pick up the useful stuff that's been left."

Khalid smiled at that. He and Saffron had slept side by side in the glow of a job well done (or so he thought). Orderly had done well and greatly contributed to the greater whole. Now Ryder's suggestion was to put them one step closer to home and civilization, were they were more likely to shine.

"I'm all for it. Let's pack up as many meals as we can, so we can make it back here if things don't work out at the Landing Zone. At least this place is shelter. Beyond that bit of pessimism, let's get going. Leaving's got my vote. Saffron? Orderly?"

Billy nods, "Yeah, we can do that. Although I'm not sure how easy it will be to talk some of them to come back up here away fo their settlement. They might think we are leading them into to be attacked, and an attack at some point could happen. However, you are correct, there is little reason to hang on here."

Orderly just nodded, but Saffron smiled widely. "Would we be able to do the surgery there, with your people?" she asked softly. Khalid knew she wanted to be free of the mystical bonds that held her.

Laina frowned in confusion at Saffron's comment and glanced up at Khalid. "Surgery?"

Khalid reached out and took Saffron's hand,

"Yes, then we do the surgery. We get you healed up and then we start thinking of a way to get Orderly's family."

He looks to Laina,

"The Gentry did something to her to compel her loyalty and I have the means to fix it. I shall once we have a place were she can rest up and heal afterwards and I have some hope of fighting off any infection. Saffron wants her life back."

Laina bit her lip as her own mind traveled down disturbing lines of thought, but she just nodded to the doctor. "Alright. Are we all agreed on heading out today, then?"

Billy looked over the group and noted a mixture of nods and shrugs, "Looks like that is the majority view. After breakfast, we pack up and head out I guess."
