"Yeah, but the taste is so bland."

He takes the offered Kiwi from Olivia and eats it. "Very sweet."

His smile says that he isn't talking just about the fruit or more.

"I'll have to see if I can get them to get some fresh Satsumas here and return the favor., the oranges they have here are all the old regular large navel orange kind."

Gwyn nods to Hawk's attire, "You just been working out? Feel like sparring with someone different for a change, I've been working with Major Caine for at least 3 weeks now and it might be good to see what techniques other people have."

"Yeah, Vinny and I just had a good little match." There's a moment's hesitation on Ryan's part. He'd worked Vinny over pretty hard. Finally he nods. "Yeah we can do that." He knew Caine was much like himself in the powers area, thus he hoped Gwyn was used to and could handle things from someone like that.

Olivia nodded slowly. "Yeah, sure," she said softly. "Up to him." She tilted her head and looked from one to the other. "Since you gents seem like you're going to discuss fighty-stuff, I'm going to head out, ok? Thanks for the nice conversation; Ryan, I'll let you know if Caine let's non-team into our briefings, and I'll let you know when I can teach some Goa'uld." She stood and collected her tray, waiting for any final comments before walking away.

Ryan nods to Gwyn. "20:30 then that's around the time I do my final workout of the day."

He looks to Olivi and smiles. "Looking forward to it Olivia. If you need some help with Major Caine let me know, I'll talk to him Team Leader to Team Leader."

Yeah, because this little ole lady can't handle a real leader of men, huh? Olivia thought to herself, then choose to react in the vein he'd probably intended it to be in. "Sure thing, Ryan, but I think I can handle Caine." She grinned and gave a little laugh; it was hard to tell exactly what way she'd meant that. "See you around, guys."

"See ya Doc"

Gwyn turns back to Hawke, "Stamina, which seems to have made it so I don't sleep, but don't need the high amounts of food that the rest of you seem to. Other than that I can fly at up to 200km/h and alter the density of my body. If I go denser I can increase my mass up to about 3 tons, although about 800kg is what I normally stick with. If I do that I also get stronger, able to lift over 10 tons, and a bit more resistant to damage. If I reduce my density I'm harder to hit and find it easier to dodge things, as well as able to squeeze myself under doors and through gaps. Lastly I can increase the density of my hands making a blow from them like it was from a sledgehammer."

He taps on the table with his fingers, but the sound is like someone banging the handle of a fork on the table.

"So what about you Major? What did Morrigan gift you with?"

  • 3 weeks later...

8:30 that night saw Major Hawke and Specialist Jones meeting in the gym for their arranged sparring session. Pulling rank slightly Major Hawke gets one of the sparring areas cleared for them, although that leaves the original fighters as a temporary audience. Quickly shedding their extraneous bags and gear the two step into the marked area. Meeting in the centre they nod and take up their stances. Ryan’s is that he has used throughout his career as taught to him in basic training. Gwyn however doesn’t seem to take up a stance at all, just standing there facing the Major with his hands at his sides.

Then the Major moves, incredibly fast, Gwyn starts moving in response but he just can’t do so fast enough. The punch catches him on the side of his stomach rather in the solar plexus as Ryan had intended, but it was still a blow that could have crippled a normal man. However although he felt the power behind the blow Gwyn’s enhanced physique and increased density served to significantly reduce the damage he felt. Gwyn’s return strike was comfortably blocked by the Major, and Gwyn started to doubt he could anything past the combination of the Major’s superhuman agility and greater experience.

The next exchange started out the same way, Ryan’s greater speed getting the blow in before Gwyn could block it, but Gwyn got lucky when Ryan’s attempted evasion had him move into the blow ((OOC – triple botch!)) so Ryan got to feel the effects of Gwyn’s increased strength when at a higher density. Although he had managed to get that lucky strike in Gwyn knew it wouldn’t happen again, and another blow would likely put him down. With little else he could do he swapped from high density to low density, becoming much more fluid in his movements and more able to avoid the damage that the Major was dishing out. However, in this form there was even less chance that he would be able to damage the Major.

Another couple of strike attempts by the Major confirmed what Gwyn had thought, it was now much harder for Ryan to hit him, standing back he raised hands and waited while the Major relaxed as well.

“Well Major, I think the fight goes to you. I can’t really land enough to put you down but I can’t avoid you putting me down unless I go to a low density and just concentrate on keeping out of your way.”

“True, but on the other hand if you do land a couple of blows you could put me down as well, and that low density form made it too difficult to land anything.”

“Anyway, I’m for a shower and a drink. Perhaps we’ll do this again Major when I’ve managed to improve my skill some.”
