Josha remained as hidden as he could while the others attacked the robots. He tried to remain calm and unafraid but it wasn't going to well. "I should have stayed with Sly. I'm no help in a fight, even with my helpers. Gotta stay with Hicks that's my best chance to stay alive."

Joshua runs towards Hicks, looking to him to find a way out.

Joshua remained close to Hicks while Tom and Grav blasted off another barrage at the incoming Robots. Grav took another chance firing off a gravitic blast towards the menacing robot which had locked his gun on her position. Her blast barely phased the machine but it was enough to put it’s aim off target. The sonic boom of the hyper accelerated projectile almost deafened her and she sensed that had just been missed by less than a handbreadth. A direct hit would surely kill her before she realized she got hit. Discarding that thought she quickly ducked for cover catching up with Hicks and Josh.

Tom’s sonic blast tore the machine half apart stopping it dead in its tracks. He clenched his fist in a short victory post before closing the gap between him and Hicks.

Hicks saw the Mutants handling the machines pretty well but not well enough to his taste. The young white haired teacher although moving with the graze and precision of a professional either lacked firepower or was having a streak of bad luck. Her target was still in good shape and coming closer. He reached for his backpack and took out one of the timed detonators. He pushed the button and took aim, then he threw it towards Grav’s target. Even if he didn’t hit it, the explosion should provide distraction enough for them to regroup and head another attack from a different location. Keeping on the run was crucial for the success of their mission.

Savannah's head snapped to Tim, and Simon could feel irritation flash through her veins. She jumped up stepped forward a couple steps, drawing in a deep breath and trying not to be annoyed that he had acted without consulting them. Wasn't he there to be the getaway? It changed the plan, and Savannah had kept herself alive following Simon's plans. But she could improvise. At least by putting herself out there she'd be the one the machines would notice if this didn't work. As she stepped up, she muttered quietly to Juno.

"No promises."

She held her arms straight in front of her, fingers splayed, eyes squeezed shut. Her brother could feel her concentration swell as she pushed everything out of her mind except for the burning. Suddenly the air above the robot flickered, and they saw a streak of fire fly through the air and hit the ground, spreading a circle of flame where it impacted. Then another, and another, until it looked like heaven itself was raining fire upon the City of Sin.

Simon felt the power flow through his sister and set his own mind to controlling the currents of air around the fire she was creating. Wind whipped up around them and around their metallic enemies, shearing at their clothes and spreading the heat and destruction of the fires. Forgetting that there were others involved in this endeavor he sent to Savi,

Once the robot is consumed in flames, and Juno's fairly sure it's probably either destroyed or fully focused on the ones who unleashed that attack, she heads for the filling station at a dead run, cutting wide to keep as much cover between her and the robot as possible for as long as possible as she tries to get to the gasoline truck.

The young latino girl dashed for the gas station as if her life dependet on it. The robot that would surely intercept her path was already aiming his guns at her and spitting deadly rounds of hv-bullets around her. Pieces of debris and dust covered her but aside from that she remained unharmed.

Suddenly the machine started to buckle and the air around it flared briefly - then it's head got crushed like a tincan. Sparks of energy covered the robot before it went silent with a mechanical moan. Tim smiled triumphantly amazed and awed by the power he "borrowed" from Grav - if she only knew how effective this stunt was.

Now the way was clear for Juno and she pushed herself a little more to cover the distance to the truck.

In the meantime the blonde twins concentrated their attack on the robot angling their position. Simon had exposed himself to get a better position for the blast he had planned while his sister moved with uncanny precision - as if their minds were one.

The energy around them was almost palpable as they concentrated to built up a joint attack. Air and Fire mixed into a deadly combination and the young mutants unleashed their fury upon their former tormentors engulfing the approaching robot in a whirlwind of fiery death.

The robot came to a halt assessing it's situation. Parts of its armor had melted and was impeding it's moving abilities. Actually the machine got fused to the ground as the asphalt beneath it got liquified. The machine struggled to break free but would have to tear off its own legs to move on. Realizing its predicament it changed its tactic and pointed its guns in the direction of the twins. A bright flash of light "hit" Simon but nothing happened. He looked surprised and a bit scared at his sister and then an odd humming sound could be heard. Shortly after that the ground behind them virtually evaporated as it got hit by a bluishwhite blast from the distant spaceship.

"Ohoh", was all that Simon managed to say as he saw another beam being fired in Juno's general direction.

(ooc: Tim's robot is destroyed. Simon's and Savi's is not down yet. Juno please make a Dex+Athletics roll at +1 Difficulty - on success you can get into the truck and start the engines. End of Turn 2)

[init 18, Turn 3]

Victory is Mine! Tim thought- his mind channeling Stewey Griffin. Their heads were vulnerable to attack and Tim would make sure that the others knew that. "Attack their heads...they can't receive signals if the head is damaged!"

The twins attack was impressive, but it looked like one of them missed their mark and the metallic monstrousity was still alive. He was about to yell out to the others to stay under cover, but it was too late. The Twins were exposed and as a result, the T-1000 fired some sort of marking beam. A susequent bolt of energy from the unseen spacecraft came perilously close to vaporizing them.

The magnitude of that blast put him in a defensive posture, but he was positive that he couldn't make a gravitational field strong enough to bend light. He could try and aid Juno in her mad drive away from the station and towards the MIC. Hopefully she would ditch close enough to them so that she could get to the warp when Tim opened it. Tim moved away from the twins and into the shadows. If the ship fired again, he did not want to be anywhere near them.

The HV-bullets slammed into steelconcrete scattering debris around them. Grav and Tom quickly dashed across the street to their fallback position giving off another of their deadly blasts. Their joint effort easily tore the approaching robot apart buying them some more time for now. There were no obvious enemies in their vicinity and Hicks scanned around quickly thinking about their next move.

"Damn, I wish I had Radio now. I hope the others are doing ok but by the looks of those beams I fear something went wrong over there. Lets try to get closer to the alien ship and maybe get on the roof of one of the buildings.", Hicks remained crouched as he peered around the next corner then looked back at the mutants and nodded. "Ok, looks good - lets go!"

(ooc: End of combat for now - you can resume posting normally here until I roll initiative for you guys again. This affects only Grav's Team of course.)

The sound of the orbital bombardment drew Juno's attention as she sprinted for the truck. That distraction probably saved her keister, and possibly her life. It allowed her to spy the robot that the twin had immolated raising some kind of a cannon to fire at her.

In a moment that would do a Taoist proud, Juno acted without thinking. She dove to the rough concrete of the ground and felt the skin on her back tingle and itch as the air where she'd been a moment earlier screamed from alien energies passing through it.

Gotta keep moving!

She managed to tuck her shoulder just enough to hit the ground rolling, and came back up onto her feet in a quick tumble that was as much luck as it was her having any idea what to do. She heard the robot's frame collapse behind her and spared a quick glance.

She decided she'd rather not know how close that'd been.

Inside the truck she searched the window visors and the glove compartment with quick hands, looking for two things. The ignition keys, and a cigarette lighter.

(If Juno can't find the keys, she can try to hotwire the truck. Let me know what to roll. The cig lighter is so she can 'innoculate' herself against fire damage, and if there isn't one in there then it's no big deal. She's just hoping there is. :))

The keys tumble out of the driver's side sunvisor and into Juno's lap. She gives the robot outside a harried look and starts the engine with one hand as she flicks the glove compartment open with her other. She couldn't be sure, but the cab stank of cigarette smoke so probably...

Hah! Yes, there was a translucent plastic tube in there with the silver top; a Bic! She grabbed it out as the truck's engine roared to life.

You couldn't be too careful at times like this. Times when you were hauling tons of highly flammable liquid straight at an alien-held compound for the express purpose of drawing their attention with a gigantic fireball. With luck, you'd get to bail in time. But only idiots and the desperate counted on luck.

She flicked her Bic, and jammed the flame against her arm as she struggled to get the huge, feisty truck into gear and moving. There was a squeal of a badly handled transmission, and a jab of pain from her arm...but she managed to get the thing rolling. And she felt the answering tingle in her skin and rolling up and out of her bones. Her body was changing. The fire from the lighter didn't hurt anymore.

With any luck, it'd be enough to keep her alive if she was doused in flaming gasoline too.

...maybe she was counting on luck too, just a little.

The truck rattled, then rolled out of the filling station and turned towards the MIC's still-distant wall.

Simon frowned at the lights and the lazers and focused back on the robot that was tagging them. Heat and air hadn't seemed to be enough, so he figured adding some steam to the situation might heat the metal up enough to fry whatever kind of circuitry the thing had.

[ROUND 3 Combat resolution]

Another bluishwhite beam hit the building right behind the gas station and the following explosion shook the road like an earthquake. Juno held on the steering wheel and pushed hard against it to keep the 16-Wheeler on the road. With another roar and squeal of protest she shifted into the next gear and slowly picked up speed. The MIC was still another mile away and Juno already knew it was going to be a hell of a trip – hopefully she would get close enough to her target.

The Twins concentrated their elemental powers on the robot that was already fused to the ground taking advantage of natural physical laws. Even though their attack wouldn’t have stopped a robot alone their joint effort multiplied the effect they were having on the machines. Within seconds the circuits and servos within the machine melted and crippled the robot – shortly after that it ‘died’ with an artificial groan.

Meanwhile Tim duck into the shadows and looked for a way to keep an eye on both the twins and Juno. By the way Juno was driving she wouldn’t get far anyway so he put her a bit lower on his priority list. The twins on the other hand were doing ok but had put themselves painfully out in the open. He pondered his options and frowned – now would be a good time that Sly-guy would make contact with them – then he could tell him to get the twins out of harms way.

(ooc: You're out of combat for now and can post freely until I roll for initiative again. Still trying to get the hang of this and managing 4 different groups is tougher than I thought.)

The only sounds Tom could hear were the highpitched ultrasonic waves that foreshadowed another of the deadly bluish beams. It was difficult to determine if they were shooting a particular target or were randomly shooting into the buildings around them. The destructive force of the blasts was impressive and if they didn’t succeed in bringing that thing down soon there wouldn’t be much of Las Vegas left to rescue…

Hicks cursed under his breath but kept on moving. He made out another building and entered it by breaking through the glas door with his rifle. He briefly checked if the others were following him before he took the stairway up to the roof.

Once they got to the buildings top he crouched slowly towards the edge facing the MIC and took out his electronic binoculars to get a better impression of the area.

"Right about now would be good timing for your friend Sly to make contact with us", he said to Tom still scanning the area.

Tom looked out over the scene and shook his head at the devastation of this end of the city. Seeing the beams plunge down from the ship, presumably after the other diversion team, he turns to the others.

"Should we just warp or gate or whatever you call it to a different side of the ship and do some damage there for a bit to keep the diversion going? I've still got some shoots left in me."

Tom waves to the others to get their attention then points to his head and mimes talking to try to get across that he was in contact with Sly.

*Well, Grav and I took two robobts down and the ship appears to be firing at the twins group. We were just considering moving to another postition. Any word on the infiltration team?*

Hicks nodded at Tom and stowed his binoculars in his backpack. "About time - Tell your friend that we're running out of time. They're destroying the city - Someone has to bring that thing down fast! And he has to check with the other team - make sure they're still alive and don't need our help."

The Captain pointed at the opposite side of the roof and quickly switched positions peering carefully over the edge. Then he looked back to the others and raised on hand with 2 fingers up and pointed downwards. Obviously there were two of the robots on this side of the building.

Nodding his understanding to Hicks Tom leaned over and whispered to Grav, "Both take one or try to take one each?"

Once he has her answer he moves quietly over to an intact corner of the roof overlooking the robots and prepares to take his shot(s).

Even though the twins had finally destroyed the second robot, Tim wasn't sure if they were out of danger yet. He poked his head out of the shadows and yelled at the twins.

"You guys might want to seek some cover before they vaporize you. We should also head towards the MIC to pick Juno up."

Tim then proceeded to move in the direction Juno went. When the truck went exploded, they would need to get out there because an army of robots was likely to converge on that location. Tim didn't want to wait for Juno longer than was necessary. He was already feeling the fatigue from using so much power.

Savannah hoped Tim had enough juice to get them back to the Wal-mart, and she spoke quietly to him as they moved.

"If we get into any more trouble, we'll take care of it okay? I know you've got skills and all, but you need to keep your energy to get us back safe."

The Gas-Truck picked up speed and Juno managed to dodge most of the debris and rubble that had been covering the road. As the truck reached 50mph she saw two of the robots emerging from an alley pointing their guns at the large vehicle. She mentally braced herself for the impact and most likely following explosion but nothing happened. Gasping she looked into the rearview mirrors and saw the machines splitting up – one turning to chase her, the other one going down the road she came from.

The MIC was maybe 20 seconds away and she was entering the huge shadowy part the large dropship cast over half of the M IC.

Tim peeked around the corner and saw the two terminators firing their salvos at Juno but missing their targets. He expected them to chase her but instead the robots split up making his plan to catch up with Juno a tad more difficult. If the Twins knew their weakness they could stop the robot long before it came too close.

(ooc: Juno – before you make your next post make sure to include one Dex+Drive roll. Tim and the Twins – you get one surprise round vs. the robot. Juno swears under her breath and starts cranking the steering wheel, trying to get the ponderous, top-heavy truck to swerve into a parking lot behind a convenience store, to get the building between herself and the robot's gun. The tires scream and complain, and she can feel the truck trying to pitch over...and somehow something her dad said about skidding and doing the opposite of what you felt like you should do came into her head. Instead of trying to force the truck to turn even more sharply, she relaxed the wheel and let it straighten out.

She had no idea if it was enough to avoid the robot though, so she then cut the truck into another turn, heading for a side street that would be a bit of a tight fit, but would take her towards the MIC and offer her some cover as it did.
