(ooc: Lyrics taken from Linkin Park – Shadow of the Day – I recommend listening to it while reading – This happens after “A night in the Unlife” Fiction)

Ashe was staring out the window. She had forced herself to get up early, her limbs felt heavy and clumsy, her skin was extremely cold to the touch. Outside the sun was setting and she could make out the last rays dying at the horizon and colouring the sky an all the shades of red and orange. Within minutes the night sky had filled with stars and the sun was just a faint memory itching on her slightly burned skin. A sacrifice she gladly took even if it was only for a few seconds.

I close both locks below the window.

I close both blinds and turn away.

Sometimes solutions aren't so simple.

Sometimes goodbye's the only way.

She had prepared for this night and although her decision had been made fear was her constant companion. Fear of losing everything she had. Living without him would be even more unbearable.

And the sun will set for you,

The sun will set for you.

And the shadow of the day,

Will embrace the world in grey,

And the sun will set for you.

She turned around and watched the sleeping body of Antoine. His large and strong limbs sprawled across the bed locked in their last embrace before they both fell asleep. She loved the smell of his skin and his deep voice that resonated inside her when he held her in his arms. His intimacy made her feel human again – it was the most precious gift she had ever received.

Pink cards and flowers on your window,

Your friends all plead for you to stay.

Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple.

Sometimes goodbye's the only way.

Still looking at him she saw him stir and slowly waking up. She sat on the window pane like a cat about to pounce, sometimes she didn’t realise how much she had adopted her bestial nature. His eyes spoke volumes and he could tell by the way she looked at him, that she had picked this night for their everlasting bond. A blood marriage like he was taught but never really understood. Only that it was a magical bond weaved with the spiritual power of their blood… or vitae like Ashe preferred to say.

And the sun will set for you,

The sun will set for you.

And the shadow of the day,

Will embrace the world in grey,

And the sun will set for you.
