I know that really does suck. All my players always put their points into aptitudes. It is harder to improve aptitudes later also so this is a bit of a flaw in Trinity.

I know what you mean. It is a real pain that they can go for increasing PSI rather than creating a character. story is very important in Trinity and some players just neglect to acknowledge that fact. I suppose it is the same regardless of the game!
