Benjamin Abel

Heroic Inspired

"Astonishing! Ancient Egyptian all the way in the Ama--" CRASH! "Could someone please get those Mummies out of here! This is important!"

A Boston native, Benjamin Abel is a child of the Boston Abels, a family well known for it's scientific endeavours, and a family that has been well covered in the society column in recent years. Ben has taken his family's native intelligence and focused it into the humanities, becoming an authority on much that the humanities have to offer, but this is not what makes Ben stand out so.

Ben has a facility with languages that borders on the supernatural. He has over a dozen languages at his beck and call, and has shown an ability to learn other languages at a frightening pace. Since his Inspiration he has travelled the world extensively on expeditions with other travellers, and has acquired himself quite the reputation as a polyglot non pareil (a talent that he had before his Inspiration, but one that has expanded significantly since then).

While not galivanting about, Ben lives at Abel Manor, a large estate in the Boston area. Recently, many rumours have been spreading regarding the strange happennings around the manor since the Hammersmith Accident.

Around 5'8" and of a just heavier than slim build, Ben has dark brown hair and green eyes. He's not exceptionally attractive, and is not the kind to make a grand entrance, but is pleasant enough looking in his own right. At home, he tends to wear fairly stylish garb, either evening or daywear. When travelling, he is rarely seen without his tan travel coverall, but he is never seen without his crystal pendant.

Daphne Walton

Stalwart Inspired

"All I want for Chrishmash is my fron' toof!"

Daphne is the darling of her father's eye, and he is the center of her world. Of course, when you're five, it's much easier for this situation to occur. The small child has also won over admirers in The Arkham Historical Society, among her father's peers. All of those gentlemen state that in twenty years, she'll be an outstanding Occult researcher.

Daphne is already showing a keen interest in the occult; her father, Howard Walton, has taken to telling her small bits and pieces, filtering carefully. He talks proudly of the day when she'll join the ranks as a full-fledged researcher. Some feel that he's pushing the girl too hard, but she has taken to it so well that their concerns seem pointless.

Inquisitive and active, little Daphne is a cutie, with curly strawberry blonde hair and big hazel eyes. She has a big smile (all the bigger because she's currently missing a tooth, and loves that her silly grin makes her father laugh). She usually wears cute dresses with big pockets; those pockets are usually full of "treasures" such as sea shells or bits of string. She goes barefoot whenever possible.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

And then Daphne stepped though the portal, chasing the image of her dead mother. For her, fifteen grueling years passed in the Hell she'd found; fifteen years of fighting her life. She vaguely remembered her previous life, as a child at her father's knee, but it as secondary to eeking out a living in a harsh world.

But not all was dark. The shade that had called her through was the ghost of her mother. For a time, her mother was able to guide her and protect her, though her abilities were limited. Then her mother's soul was captured by a daemon for some foul purpose. It was about that time that Daphne found the abandoned litter of hellpuppies. Entranced by the darkly cute animals, she took the three puppies, naming them Fluffy (who was a little fluffy), Spot (who wasn't spotted) and Blackie (who was more gray, but she was eight). The four became a pack.

Over time, the pack was diminished. First Blackie was killed by another, much larger pack of hellhounds who attacked their pack. Then Fluffy and Spot were both captured by a daemon for some use. Daphne was able to save Spot but not Fluffy, and was fleeing with Spot when the was knocked through a portal. They were safe and home, but Daphne no longer belonged in this world.

Arichbald "Arch" Bannister

Stalwart Inspired

Archibald “Arch” Bannister was actually the son of David and Nancy Johns, but was orphaned at aged 10. A Mr. Bradley Bannister found him and adopted shortly after Archibald was moved to the orphanage. Archibald possesses a very charming personality and is quite well-built. He is such a person whom any friend, mother or wife would cherish and be proud of. Apart from being a great personality he has a youthful (23 years old) face and handsome appearance. From his early childhood days, Archibald was a diligent and outstanding student, performing well in his academic studies, but he was particularly best in archery and with a bow and arrow in his hands; he is quick, refined and sharp.

Since leaving the Bannister home he has begun a long and frustrating search for his parents. Bits and pieces of information that he has managed to find point towards the PPI as the last known location of his parents. He currently is in the process of setting up as a private investigator in the Boston area for two reasons. One is to provide a cover for his work with Aeon, and two because he genuinely likes that line of work.

During field wok he can be seen carrying a small crossbow with and a quiver of bolts in addtion to his slighty worn trenchcoat, and hat. His crossbow looks similar to this

Appearance: Average looking woman in her early 20s. Much like this: mia.png

Personality: Cool and confident. Endlessly curious ("wonder what this button does?") Her inspiration has only emboldened her to leap into the thick of things.

Background: There aren't a lot of opportunities available for a young woman whose father died in the war and who isn't interested in marriage, but newspapers of the period are an exception. After internship at the Boston Globe, Mia found herself covering flower shows and the occasional broken fire hydrant, and would proclaim loudly that she'd die of boredom.

Her boss eventually relented and had her sent to cover a man who'd written to the paper about discovering an underground river in the American heartland. After meeting with the man, she journeyed underground to take in the river itself - and the ad-hoc distillery that he'd set up. It was then that this man, Doctor Neil Byrd, explained that he thought this was the legendary River Styx, whose waters would grant invulnerability to anyone submerged in them, with side effects possibly including loss of voice or memory - side effects that he was trying to neutralize. Mia rolled her eyes so hard they nearly popped out of her head, and made a derisive comment. Byrd grew enraged, and hit her. She staggered back into his still, and the whole mess went into the river - along with her.

When Mia woke up, the cavern was bone dry - no sign that a river had ever flowed through it. Doctor Byrd was gone. And soon after, when she had the misfortune of running afoul of racketeers, she discovered that bullets all but bounced off her with nothing but minor wounds and a torn wardrobe, and that any wounds she did receive would heal up in hours. Having had a paranormal experience, Mia wanted more - and soon started searching for more, becoming affiliated with the PPI in order to land the next big story.

Catori "Spirit"

Background:

Catori is the only daughter of the Apache tribe’s medicine Man “Spiritchaser”. Her tribe has been lucky to have not suffered much under the ‘White mans’ influence or relentless conquering of the territories.

Spiritchaser was one of the most respected men of the tribe and his daughter had always a special place not only in his heart. He taught her everything he knew, about the tribes history, culture and their heritage and of course about the great Spirit – Manitou.

The day he died he asked her to come to his tipi and help him prepare for a long journey. She knew right away that he was about to die but she was taught to be brave and not mourn his death. The ceremony took the whole day and deep into the evening and when she woke up the next day, the world had changed for her.

Her father died that night but his spirit remained attached to her reborn as a majestic Eagle. Soon after that fateful day someone from Arkham approached her and asked her to help with the studies of the native American tribes and offered knowledge and education from the ‘white man’ in return. Initially reluctant to accept that offer Catori agreed after she had a vivid dream sent from Spiritchaser which indicated that her future was entwined with Arkham’s future. But there were dark clouds over Arkham’s mighty tipi and she had to be careful whom to trust.

Appearance: Catori is a very beautiful young native american woman. She dresses in a traditional suede dress made from the most precious Nubuk leather in her tribes colours. Sometimes she wears some jewelry handmade from bones and leather depending on the occasion. (ooc: the Avatar pretty much catches how she looks like)

Personality: Catori is curious about the white mans endeavours but also watches with a keen and warning eye. She listens a lot and is very careful when she answers in her choice of words. Her silence can sometimes be mistaken for a lack of understanding of the language but that is not the case. Catori prefers to speak only when she has something to say and not just to "keep a conversation". That strange behaviour indicates that she has just recently joined western 'civilization'.

Marion Abel

The black sheep of the Abel family, notorious in family circles for her exploits...and the money she's asked for to get out of them. For quite some time she was considered a minor embarrassment; the gifted daughter who'd taken a promising career in archeology and thrown it away to chase a series of strange relics...books or something...across the globe. Not long ago her insistent requests for more money required Mr and Mrs Abel to make the hard choice to place a limit on her access to the family fortune...though they sincerely believed it was for her own good as well as the family's.

Not long after that, Marion returned home. Her parents welcomed her back, hoping that, at last, she was coming to her senses. She confided in Ben though that she had recovered an incredible artifact...and had become heir to occult learning long since thought lost. In the process, she had made a target of herself to those who desired that power for themselves.

Now, using the fantastic power of The Grand Grimoire, and with the aid of other men and women of learning and valor, Marion seeks to unlock the mysteries of the beyond...perhaps even learning the secrets of the recent surge in magic power, and what its perils and promises may be.
