jameson (ST)
Father Patrick O'Mally - Divinely InspiredPatick Seamus O'Mally was born to a working class family in South Boston (Southie). As a child his parents did their best to keep young "Paddy" out of trouble and instill him with a good education but Paddy was a born trouble maker. Getting into fights, mischief, and worse Paddy was a grade “A” juvenile delinquent. When the Great War started in Europe Paddy saw the writing on the wall. He knew that the only way a guy like him could get out of going “over there” would be to join the Church. Amazingly that proved to be one of the best choices in his life. While he had always been a fighter and a trouble maker he did have a strong belief in God and knowledge in his religion as instilled by his parents. He flourished and soon was a full Priest. He requested and was given duty at the parish he grew up in St. Mark’s. When the Hammersmith Incident changed the world Father Paddy, as people now called him, had been at mid-morning prayer. He was instantly filled with divine power and a sense of purpose greater than any other he had felt before. He spoke to the Bishop about his newfound power and was referred to the Knights of the Cross. He still serves as a parish priest in his old neighborhood, but when the need arises he and others of his order go out into the night and battle the forces of darkness. jameson (ST)
Charles Fitzroy - unknownCharles FitzRoy, uncle of Millicent Fitzroy, is a weathly resident of Cambridge, a successful real estate speculator/investor, and a member of the Arkham Society. Most people are unaware of his connection to H.P. Lovecraft and his occult group but those who know Charles personally are well aware of the man's interest in the occult. Charles keeps residence in a massive colonial mansion on the north side of Cambridge. The grounds are rumored to be haunted though none of the servants or groundskeepers will ever speak of any supernatural experiences while on the property.Publically Charles is known to keep company among the best social circles. Despite rumors about his penchant for younger women (and specifically his niece) he is well respected in Boston society and well thought after for his donations to local schools and charities.Privately Charles is an obsessed man, he spends two to three days a week meeting with other members of the Arkham Society (often in private if they are publically known members) and is constantly sending his niece out to look into matters of possible supernatural interest. What exactly is Charles obsessed with? Nobody knows, or if they do they are not telling. Certainly Charles makes every effort to keep his interest in the occult a secret. jameson (ST)
Millicent FitzRoy - Mesmerist - former PCLady Millicent Elizabeth Susanna FitzRoy is a newcomer to the city, but in the few months she's been around she has become rather well known. Daughter of an English Duke, she is now living in her family's large and luxurious estate, together with her uncle, Charles, who is known as being deeply involved in the mysterious and suspicious Arkham Historical Society. The reasons for her move to America are cause of much speculation and rumor, especially since strange circumstances and accusations of demon worship followed her uncle out of Europe, almost thirty years ago. The most benign and fanciful tales talk about a romance between the young Millicent and her uncle, while the more persistent speak of her being possessed by the Devil or coming to join the FitzRoy's dark cult. She certainly works for the Arkham Society, mostly as a field agent, popping up in strange places, asking strange questions and jotting notes down in a battered notebook. If one were to describe the Lady in a few words, one would first think of "pretty", as she is young and quite fair, even though she dresses in old-fashioned black dresses most of the time. Yet, especially if the one making the description has talked to her at any time, this would quickly evolve to "pretty disturbing". Millicent seems to look at even old men many times her age as children and, in fact, has a penetrating kind of stare, of the kind normally employed by mothers and teachers, that invariably makes people feel as if they've done something very bad and despite their best efforts to hide it, she knows. She is also witty, cynical, well-read and somewhat condescending of those less educated than her, which has not gained her many friends, even though people would be hard-pressed to say they actually dislike her. There is a rumor going around that, although she is a woman many times wandering about the streets at strange hours alone, she has never once got mugged, robbed or assaulted. Something which people normally use to prove her connections with either the underworld or the unholy.-----------------------------Leland Wulfenbach - Mesmerist - former PCLeland “The Sidewalk Illusionist” Wulfenbach so not just a street illusionist, he is a magician in the Boston area. Leland will regularly find a corner of a busy street and start a magic show, but he also performs in private venues. Leland has blonde hair and blue eyes, and is very tall with a slim frame. He is never seen in anything but a buttoned down suit, and is constantly accompanied by an incredibly small fox, which Leland refers to as Heydrich. Heydrich is often used in simple disappearing tricks, and is commonly pet my by the kids watching the show. When performing, Leland is especially mindful of the child audience because it is why he is so popular in the area. The kids see him performing, and make their parents join in watching. He doesn’t ask for money for the street shows, but people often make small donations that he will than give forth to the children of the crowd, thus further boosting his popularity among them. The little that he saves from street performances go to that night when he gets drunk at the nearest tavern. He has a small, regular group of friends who all show up and get drunk everynight. Leland often covers the tab. Most of Leland’s tricks are said to be real magic, and not just simple illusions. This is partly because while performing some of the illusions, Leland will speak what might appear to be German. Coupled with that, and the recent history with the Germans, many people are against his shows. Leland, unlike most magicians, denies all magical involvement. Very few believe him.--------------Henry Johnson - Stalwart - former PCHenry 'Crossroads' Johnson is a nationally-famous Delta Blues musician who's traveled all over the country playing his unique and acclaimed music. A friendly, easy-going young man who's always ready with a smile and a smoke, Crossroads has made friends and won fans all over the world. He is usually seen in a dapper black hat, a pinstriped pocket vest with a button-down white shirt with rolled sleeves, black trousers and shoes, and is rarely seen without his rose-tinted sunglasses, giving many the mistaken impression he may be blind or hard of seeing. Crossraods' past is shrouded in mystery (or perhaps just mediocrity), something that he blanches at discussing. It's rumored that he sold his soul to the Devil for musical talent, and this is a rumor he's done nothing in the way of discouraging. He carries with him an ebony Gibson six-string that people describe as haunting to see him play, and people with little grit have been known to cry out or faint dead away at the apex of his performances. He's well-known throughout the US for his musical talent, but the stigma associated with his lifestyle choices ensures that he must hand-to-mouth it everywhere he goes. Known for a love of drinking, smoking, women, and food, Crossroads is the ultimate wild card in the new world gone mad, willing to make or break alliances as it suits him and not caring one whit for what awaits him at the end of his marvelous journey. Crossroads is in Boston right now on "tour", which is a dressed-up way of saying that's where the wind took him this week. ------------------------Ivan Kowalski - Stalwart - former PCHe's a humble and simple man, though a huge slab of a man. He stands just under 7 feet tall, with shoulders so broad and squared it looks like you could balance a platter of food on them. He's usually dressed in blue jean coveralls with a blue collar shirt and a shapeless cap. When not working he's in his casual attire of brown trousers, a mostly clean white button down shirt, and suspenders, plus the hat. He's a homely fellow, his brown hair is cut in a crew cut, his nose is mashed and broken, his ears swollen with cauliflour, missing a few teeth, and has a few scars and old puncture wounds on his cheeks and brow. His smile is honest though, and there is no guile in his sad eyes. Some few people might recognize him in his last suit of clothes, that of the Warsaw Crusher. He wears black wrestling tights and boots, a black cape but no shirt, and a black face mask, which he snarls through while speaking in very broken and crude Polish phrases that make no sense. In this guise he's a notorious Hooker, a Catch Wrestler, what would eventually develop into Professional Wrestling. He takes on all comers and is a 'Heel' a bad guy. He frequents fairs and carnivals, and works out of some bars and barn and school arenas for these events.Few that have seen him can believe his seemingly superhuman strength. His body seems chiseled out of the ugly rock at the base of a mountain, and is just as strong and resilient. Fewer still can understand how such a meek and even simple man can have such power, or turn into the crazed Warsaw Crusher seemingly just by donning some bad fitting wrestling tights.Father Paddy has taken a particular shine to him, and allows him to work at the school and church as a janitor and handyman, and sometime assistant coach for the wrestling and football teams, and he sleeps on a cot in the storage area. He's deeply religious, and wants for all the world to one day meet the Pope, though he has no idea what he'd do if he did meet him. Through Father Paddy he's done some Crusading for the Knights of the Cross, though he's refused to enter as a Brother or Monk as he feels he's not worthy. Father Paddy admires the young man's simplicity, believing it to be the core of a deep and abiding faith in God, that typically only children can have. It saddens him though that John seems to have so little esteem or respect for himself. He's seen John get viciously insulted or even attacked and done nothing but take it, not even walking away. At other times he's seen him hop into a fight with terrible odds at the first time someone blasphed or harmed someone that John cared for. John couldn't put a date on when he was Inspired. Such things don't occur to him, but most likely it happened slowly rather than all at once. If he really thought about it, he might be able to narrow it down to a particularly moving sermon that Father Paddy gave (after his own Inspiration) followed by a devoted Confession to him. However, as far as he's concerned, he's always been strong and tough and doesn't realize how amazing his feats of strength can be.
