A day in the life of a Nova: Rules and Guidelines

We are going to start doing a variety of contests in the forum. Each contest will have its own specific guidelines and rewards.

For our first contest, we are looking for a day in the life story. With this contest we are establishing the current time of the OpNet Forum, which is exactly 10 years ahead of today. The date will always be the same as today, ignoring any difference for leap year. As I am posting this it is October 28th, 2003, and the reflected OpNet date is October 28th, 2013. From this point forward, all events for the OpNet Forum will follow this timeline.

Rules and Guidelines

  • Take us through the events for your player character for the current date in time, which is not to exceed 24 hours. The story can begin as the character wakes, or in the middle of the day, but the story must last for one waking day or 24 hours whichever is shorter.
  • The details can be of your choosing, as can the genre of story. The importance is to show what it's like to be a Nova, or more precisely what it is like to be your character on a given day.
  • The story can be of any length the author wishes, and can have as many chapters(posts) as they feel necessary. If you plan on doing your story in multiple posts, your first post establishes the day on which your story takes place.
  • Anyone can enter, you just have to have a login for the character you are writing about.
  • You can enter as many times as you would like, but only once per character.
  • Only 1 author per story.
  • All stories must be new and original pieces of fiction.
  • All entries must be made in this forum to be eligible.
  • The deadline for this contest is November 30th.
  • At the completion of the contest, all senior forum members will be able to vote on their favorite story over a two week span.

Reward

The character with the highest vote total will get the ability to add 1 custom title (which must be approved by me) to the participating character.

If you have any questions about the contest, please ask them in this thread. I look forward to reading all the entries and hope everyone enjoys this and the other contests that we have planned.
