just wondering, my fiance' and I were about to join an aberrant game this weekend, we like the game and stuff, but I had the idea that we could be fraternal(sp) twins, one boy one girl. she liked it and decided that we were of Asian decent, living in America, and our nicknames wre Ying and Yang. I know, super cheesy. but I am having alot of trouble comming up with good, opposite powers. light and dark, good and evil, stuff like that. I was kinda thinkin about the twins in Alpha flight(X-men) but that's a little wierd. I dunno, maybe it's a lost cause. What do you all think? confused

Ditto on ditching Yin and Yang.

How about Cyberkinetic with Nature Manipulator?

Weather Manipulator and Geological Manipulator (Earth and Sky)?

MegaSocials and Domination each focused on the opposite sex (Each being the ideal Man/Woman)?

Brick and Psyker?

Density Control Increase and Density Control Decrease?

Matter Creation versus Disintigration?

Shrinker and Grower?

Is there a Weakness that requires contact for powers to work?

I am thinking about having powers (not necessarily all their powers) that work only while they are in contact, kind of like Fenris (the VonStroker Twins).

The characters could be 20 NP characters, who have an extra 40 NP when they are together.

I wouldn't use Weakness/Strengths for it. That's almost worth a Power in it's own right.

But then, I detest the Weakness/Strength system. There were so many ways they could have done it better, if they'd thought about it (and I hope that Aberrant d20 takes this into consideration).

I def agree with the "Brick" and PSyker combo. very much like a raistlin and caramon twin set... is you read dragonlance at all.

on the idea of having extra powers, or more dots while together: I would make a range on how far away they have to be from eachother.

Also, depending on how strong you make them when they are together I think there should also be some kind of balance i.e.- they both lose health when the other is injured, or some aspect of their powers are more suscetable. ie- the brick character would be even more vulnerable to psychic assault , leaving it up to the psyker charatcer to prtect the twin and him/herself as well.

whatever the decision, I definitley agree that the bonuses should be balanced out with some type of minuses

well, I like the brick and PSYker stuff, but the "wonder twins" type stuff??? I dunno, soundslike more trouble than what it's worth. I just wanted to have a character background that made roleplaying interesting and gave a different POV for eveyone. Raistlin and Caramon was some of my favorite characters from dragonlance(strum brightblade was my favorite though. smile

thanks for all the info and stuff, I'll let you all know how it goes and what final choice we make.

again, thanks alot!!

Sturm had his place in history, his moment of glory, and became a life lesson about bravery and sacrifice for the others to grow on.

Since Paladins are based on Roland and other Paladins of Charlemagne, it was a fitting end.

From my point of view, the Kender should have died first, but then, I'm a crotchety old guy who finds kender, tinker gnomes, and gully dwarves a tad irritating.

You think that, but have you played a game with a correct roleplaying PC of that race thingy. you get what I'm saying, they all should of died moments after conception.

But more on the topic: I think we are deciding to go our own ways with powers, I like momentum control since I never seen it used before in game, and I think my girl(I dislike saying and typing fiance')is interested in a more classic character like an X-men clone or something.

but thanks for the help and the great ideas

Ok,. obviously, My character is THE quintessential "Hothead, flashy, fast fireball human torch guy" Ergo, to be more original, I gave hime more of a surfer personaltiy, and have a BIG affinity for water. Most of his tattoos are water. He is more often than not, wet, when not aflame. My Gm admits that my character's powers and all that are not at all original.. However, the way Longboard is played, is definitley his own rounded out fleshed out character.

PS: Sturm still shouldnt have died

well, as a random quest for the both of us, I went through the abberrant book one more time in hopes of something grasp[ing hold of our imaginations, and IT DID!!

Desity control!!

she likes the decrease power, aka shadowcat from Xmen, and I like the increase cause, oohh yeah buddy badd a$$ ness. and I was also thinking about adding the warp power as my control of desity to create "black hole warps" and other such coolness. I'll likely have to change my name, and I'll do it here as well so as to practice roleplaying better. smilesmile

NEway, at least I convinced my fiance' against the yin and yang thing !!!!

You all are great to have such good power idead and stuff, THANKS TO YOU ALL AGAIN!!!

Hey look , I got a pic!!?!!?!!?

Well, I also wanted to give heads up to the characters we created for the game.

We are irish twins, our parents are both originally from ireland, they came to the US for college education at different colleges. they met back up on the internet, and through that fell in love. Marriage, and kids<us!!!!> and after 5 years of marriage, the couple divorced under bad terms. My sister and I were split up through DCFS and she was adopted by a well to do family where I was bounced between foster families.

the next 12 years are pretty normal for both of us, she is pretty pampered with her private school, maids and stuff. and I have trouble staying in school, getting beat up all the time, stuff like that

but one evening, her asopted mother was away on a business trip, leaving the fater and daughter home. No matter what my she did, everything that she did turned him on to the point of LUST at which he tried to rape her. All she could wish was not to be there, and she "phased" through the bed and dissappeared.

I, being connected to her because of this event, see what she sees, and grow so incredably full of rage that I destroy the building I was in with my imense strength.

We use our connection <psychic link> to find eachother and then, under forcement of our DM, decide to join a rashoud facility.< utopia YUCK!!!>

she has super seductiveness and density decrease, and I got density increase, and a side note of warp<I create intense density fiends between my hands and create a mini black hole that I use to create a warp, and later to hurt people a lot>

So what do you guys think?

Something I like, because I think it fits in with your density control, is this:

Reduce the Range to Zip with weaknesses, then the add Area Effect Extra.

See what your ST says.

Also, look at the Storm and Sphere Techniques in Elemental Mastery for some other effects of Gravity Control.

yeah, I was htinking about that, but the DM<GM, ST, guy in charge> threw the players guide out the window, LITERALY. no perks or flaws, no weaknesses, no 4+ powers. and something I like NO MASTERY!!!!!

cheapest thing to happen to abberant since spacial manipulation.

  • 2 weeks later...

I realize you've already chosen, but a high-taint demonic looking brick and an unearthly beautiful, winged, mega-charismatic angel would make a great combo.

For the record, I liked Yin and Yang. BEHOLD: THE POWER OF CHEESE!
