300 points

maybe something like

Attribute:5

Ability:2

Specialty:1

Background:3

Willpower:13

Quantum::21+2 per level

Mega-attribute:21 +2 per dot

Level one power:2+1 per dot

Level two power:11+2 per dot

Level three power: 20+3 per dot so at level 3 power at 5 dots would be 20,23,26,29,32 so 130

needs fixing..

Now here it is the catch. nova powers wok from 1-10, and not 1-5. powers work like this half dots work as "power" levels, and the others work as "Quantum" points. I know this is tricky but it works like this a Quantum bolt of 8 does [8]12 lethally six dots does [6]9 lethal damage. the Quantum the nova has.Quantom only is you power pool, and what powers you can get

And one is free to ask about anything.

By making one point system removes beter or wrose ways of spending points.Noted in a few threads that one point in a power is not much smaler than two dots in it.Ie a nova with a quantum of 5 does [10]4 and with two dots he does [10]8 with a q-bolt.only four more dice for three more nova points.

I may be off on the math but the basic idea is that, it better to get five quantum points, than it isto get q-bolt and force field.

Depends on what you're trying to play. I think you would be more satisfied with the Champions (HERO system) rather than Aberrant (Storyteller system).

Champions _can_ be a better system, but you can discourage players from taking the 1-dot road to riches very easily in Aberrant. throw some Q-vampire at them once in a while, and tell them (after they roll their willpower) that you got a net of one success. I guess you only lose one dot in Q-bolt. If all they had was one dot, they will cry. I resorted to doing this in one game i ran because every player had one dot in force field. Another thing you can do is put them in situations where the number of dots they have in their powers matter. But i guess thats not really the answer we are looking for here since this is a players forum, not the ST one. heh, thats what i get for being a noob here. On the subject of points-changing, I dont think they are needed if your GM can bitchslap the people whose characters have no story. The guy with Q5 and one dot in Qbolt, one dot in FF and one dot in flight needs slapped. Its obvious he went into supertwinkfestoverdrive when making his character instead of thinking. I know. I have both been slapped for this as well as doing the slapping.

Um I love the system of story teller.. but the charatcer gen and the way the powers are handled are a bit off.Notice that I dod not change how powers work, just wha they work off of.the q-bolt stil does that same thing.

Lastly this not a thread about why I should play heros.. or somethign else. But rather would this work.So I took a new look on things.I am trying to make the game better, but Ilike the core of the game.

The universe giveth and the universe taketh away. Sucks, huh?

You talk about the mathematical relationship between the different flavors of points and abilities, while I suggest that outlook might be better served by Champions. My outlook being that I can build the character I want with this system... And sometimes a little ST indulgence. You sound sound as if you're concerned with other things than the roleplaying so I direct your attention to a system better suited to a mechanics outlook.

The simple summary for the tainted buttered monsters at home being, "Nope, doesn't sound worthwhile to me."

:P

Are you the same Geryon that was using that sig line... what? A year ago? Don't tell me this is the first time you've ever been here?

And welcome to N! if it is.

As far as I know, I am the only Geryon running around using my sigline smile This is most definitely not the first time I have been here but it is the first time I have done anything other than lurk around inregistered.

Why, well you could say that..and not have to go threw all thetruble of throwing champions int my face. The fact is I love dice pools, and dislike games where only the target numberchanges.I mena it is fun in game like say buffy, orany silly game game but I am not making a world of comic book heros.I am going for a world that yes, supper man beats you and no, the spunky kid doesn't win in a fight of over whelling odds.

I like Sotryteller, but it does need a few good kicks once in a while, and the chargen process seems clunky to me.

Wasn't there a similar system posted recently, when I posted about eliminating Bonus points?

Oh, and Hey, Geryon, that sig line brings me back...
