Heraldry and Reputation

Recommended Posts

So, here's where you put up info on your character. I'd like stat blocks in people's signatures so we can all reference easily, so this space is more for what is known about your character in Thedas. Please mark anything that you want to share here that is not public knowledge and give an indication of what kind of people might know. Say if you're a Orlesian minor noble that has a penchant for illicit lyrium laced mushrooms, probably only your dealer and select foodie friends know about it. Certainly not your devout Chantry-following companions. For now.

I'll also place NPCs of note here.

House Trevelyan

“Modest in temper, bold in deed” -House Trevelyan motto

House Trevelyan is a noble family from Ostwick in the Free Marches.

Originating in the dual walled Free Marcher city of Ostwick, the Trevelyans are a noble house noted for their piety and connections within the Chantry and the Templar Order. Younger members of the family are often expected to follow a career in service of the Chantry either as a member of the Chantry itself or as a Templar, regardless of their personal feelings or motivations. Many members of the family presently serve as members of the chantry and the Trevelyans are reliably on a first name basis with most of the Chantry in Ostwick.

The Trevelyans have relatives among the nobility of Nevarra and the Tevinter Imperium, including House Pavus. The Trevelyans also maintain a relationship with the Montilyet family of Antiva.

Lucille Trevelyan - Swara's great-aunt.  Lives in Ostwick.
Bann Trevelyan - Swara's father.
Lady Trevelyan - Swara's mother.
Lady Osher Lotharn Trevelyan Bayart - A cousin of Swara's whose skill at court intrigue and proficiency with The Game are well know.  To her, reputation is everything.
Lord Albrecht - A distant relative of Swara's who temper, poor manners and mouth are constantly forcing the family to keep him in check.
Philliam Bernard Aloicious Trevelyan, better known as Philliam, a Bard! - He's a bard.  Not a very good one... but still a bard.

Swara Annelise (Swara-Ann) Trevelyan

House Trevelyan is littered with prestige and pious accolades, of that it is certain.  Of Swara, however, very little is certain and not much of it is flattering.  What is known is that she was (is) a Ley Sister of the Ostwick Chantry where she was receiving her education and secondary schooling.  While the Free Marches certainly never protest to a woman taking up arms, it was expressly forbade in Swara-Ann's case, lest she harm herself, or others.  Rumors abound that along with her status as a Ley Sister, came the fact that she was sent off to the Chantry because she was as dump as a post.

Bann Trevelyan, who was somewhat overprotective of his rather dull child, sent her away to serve The Maker but The Breech and The Great Cause that followed interrupted her studies and she never took her vows, making her a true Sister.  She has spoken many times about how she escaped Ostwick, fled to Fereldan to join the Inquisition and serve the Maker as best she can restoring peace and hope to the world of Thedas.

Beautiful, nurturing and kind to a fault, Swara-Ann sees the good in everyone and truly believes the world would be much better if everyone just listened and made a better attempt to understand everyone elses' feelings.  She's a hugger and talker and her perpetual smile is almost as infectious as her bubbly good cheer.  The rumors of her being dumb as a post are certainly true, but her skill with a blade and desire to use in the Maker's name are certainly up to snuff.  She is quite aware which end goes in the bad guys and is not afraid to put to the sword anyone who would keep the world from being restored to it's proper, peaceful glory.

The Pentaghast Family

The Pentaghast family is the royal family of Nevarra and a family of dragon hunters, who brought these creatures to near-extinction in the Steel Age. The Pentaghast family has fourteen branches, eighteen if counting their relations among the Van Markhams, each consisting of multiple families and twisting bloodlines connecting them to almost every major house across Thedas. The current King of Nevarra is Markus Pentaghast, a man of advanced age. The most immediate successor is his younger brother Ferdinand, the famed dragon hunter. Neither brother has any known offspring. Members of the Pentaghast and Van Markhams are already lining up to replace Markus upon his inevitable death. However, some Nevarran noble families believe both clans have held power for too long and figure they must step aside. There have been at least two attempts to overthrow King Markus: one in 9:08 Dragon orchestrated by Baron Gaulene, and one in 9:10 orchestrated by several prominent Pentaghasts. This second attempt led to widespread arrests and executions in what has since become known as the Nevarran Purge.

Notable Members:

  • Cassandra Pentaghast: a Seeker of Truth in the service of the Chantry. A founding member of the Inquisition. 78th in line to the throne.
  • Markus Pentaghast: the current ruler of Nevarra.
  • Ferdinand Pentaghast: the younger brother of Markus and a legendary dragon hunter and author.
  • Tythas Pentaghast: the current Duke of Hunter Fell.
  • Vestalus Pentaghast, Prelate of the Mortalitasi mage order and overseer of the Grand Necropolis in Nevarra City, uncle of Cassandra.
  • Alexander Pentaghast: Father of Philip.
  • Maria Pentaghast: Mother of Philip.
  • Lucrezia Pentaghast: Twin sister of Philip.
  • Theresa Pentaghast: Younger sister of Philip.
  • Franz Pentaghast: Younger brother of Philip.
  • Joseph Pentaghast: Younger brother of Philip.

Philip (Albert Rudolf Leopold Frederick Maximilian "enough!") Pentaghast

Philip Pentaghast is one of the many sprawling relations of the Nevarran royal family, 84th in line to the throne, and second cousin to Seeker Cassandra Pentaghast. One half of the eldest twins born to Lord Alexander and Lady Maria, each blossomed in their own way. Philip demonstrated great strength and skill in arms. Lucrezia (named for a deceased Antivan grand-aunt) became a great beauty, respected for her cleverness.

Both Philip and Lucrezia are known to be unsatisfied with their family's prosperous but static state and seek to make their names in history. Lucrezia, a past student of the University of Orlais, has involved herself within the Grand Game and the Orlais Civil War as it was raging. Philip meanwhile, joined the Inquisition after the sacking of Haven, to fight the great evil of Corypheus loose in Thedas.
