Dear Abbie,

I erupted a few months back and have recently decided to start training at a Rashoud center. The thing is my husband works and we have a two year old daughter. I'm worried about who will look after her while I'm training. Our families live in a different State so that's out.

Dear Angel,

You may want to check with the Rashoud Facility--most Utopian institutions are pretty good about providing employee child care, and I would imagine that the Rashoud Facilities would be no different. You may be able to work something out with Utopia. Some Rashoud Facilities actually do provide day care for patients' children, as well, so if you haven't investigated at all, do look into that. Alternatively, there are a lot of employment opportunities for novas out there. If you sign on with Utopia, DeVries, or any of the other agencies, worrying about paying for child care will suddenly cease to become an issue. Be careful about signing on for anything you're not ready for, but a lot of novas have found a lot of fulfillment in working with these organizations, and one may be right for you. If you should decide to do so, take care to make sure you pay lots of attention to your husband and daughter whenever possible. These jobs can be stressful on families, and I'm sure that your daughter is confused by all of the changes that are happening to her mommy. Your husband, too, will likely have a little bit of trouble adjusting to joining that 2% of husbands whose incomes are less than their wives'. Try to be sensitive with him and listen to his concerns. Men are socialized to be the breadwinners, and while that has changed some in the last twenty years or so, the adjustment may not be easy for your husband. If the two of you need to talk to someone, Utopia has great counselors available, some of them even novas, who might be able to help the two of you work through the major changes that are occurring in your life. Just do remember every day why you love one another, and things should work out for the best.
