Dear Abbie,

I've just recently manifested powers of ESP and slight precognition, and while they are quite useful and pretty cool, ever since they showed up, I get a sense that something bad, very bad, is coming. I can't exactly tell what, but its really starting to disturb me. I've been unable to sleep for the past three weeks because of it. Is there anything I can do to, I don't know, counteract or tone down this general feeling of ickyness about the near future so I can get some rest?

I don't believe you have a problem.

Okay, sorry--I can't resist classical references. It seems to me that you've got two options here: you can learn to control your power, or you can try to medicate it out of existence. I strongly advise the first; as a nova, you really can't expect your powers to go away. However, as a short-term solution, your doctor may be able to prescribe a combination of moxicilin and valium so that you can get some sleep. See your general practitioner; he may have to refer you elsewhere, but many of them can go ahead and make a small prescription for you. In the end, though, you'll most likely have to seek professional assistance to learn how to control your powers. Project Utopia's Rashoud facilities are the industry standard, here, but there are other alternatives. Depending on your interests, you may be able to sign on to DeVries, for example, and have access to their training facilities. You will need to learn how to deal with being a nova; rather like race or gender, it's one of those things you're born with, and can't change. (In fact, you're less able to change it than you are able to change your gender...) No one is asking you to use your powers all the time, but if you don't know how to use them, you won't be able to control them. It doesn't take ESP to tell you where that will take you: you're living it right now.
