STARFINDER GM

Mertwee was shocked at the speed with which the motley crew recovered from his repostioning, bolts and beams lashed at him and then the Vesk showing amazing speed was before him and his huge sword slashing across his chest but it was the Electric bolt from the synthetic which really got him.

The bolt hit square in the mummy priests chest sending a web of electric fire across his body. Fur singed and muscles contacted locking him onto a stiff shaking form which was open to further attack.

But the crushing of the priest was not all that was happening.

When Jordayn yanked the goddesses body from the alter the magical sphere began to deform and rotate rapidly then it exploded in a scintillating rainbow of colors as the encased energies fled back to it's sources. The spell holding the canines aloft fade and the dogs sank to the pyramid where they fled the battle in a cacophony of howls and barks.

One canine in particular did not feel the pyramid instead it ran past Jordayn in to the shadows an the waiting arms of the drow witch. Jordayn smiled at the happy reunion of dog an master and was about to call to the drow when a steel like hand griped his throat sinking black razor sharp claws into his bare neck choking the words off.

The goddess lived!

Spoiler

"Shit! Jordayn!" Jexa exclaimed, her antenna standing straight up as the feline... goddess?... avatar?... clutched the half-elf's throat. He was the closest thing to a friend Jexa had in a long time, and not somebody she looked forward to losing. He had saved her life. He was a friend, and to Jexa, that was priceless. The lashunta's face twitched and twisted into a mask of, seemingly divinely inspired, anger as her antenna arched back over her head. She clutched her pistol so tightly in her fist that Echo could swear she heard the grip cracking.

"Leave. Him. Alone. You dried out piece of discarded, wannabe, divine pus!" she snarled through gritted teeth as her jumpjets flared, launching Jexa at reborn goddess.

She reared back her fist clutching her laser pistol, as she called out an enchantment, causing crackling electricity to arc and dance all over the pistol. In one swift motion, Jexa landed before the feline and brought her pistol down and across the feline's face in a such severe pistol-whipping, goddess-stunning, bitchslap, the likes of which had rarely, if ever, been seen. The force of the blow spun the feline's head to the side and a nearly immeasurable fraction of a second later, the electricity coating her pistol eager leapt onto the furry form of Bastet, coursing through her and dancing all around her head body, causing her fur to stand up anywhere it touched as the feline tenses and twitched from the electricity washing over her.

Spoiler

Move Action
Closing to Bastet.

Standard Action
Jexa casts Jolting Surge, using her laser pistol to touch Bastet. It is a melee attack vs her EAC (and casting it does not provoke an Attack of Opportunity)

Spoiler

Attack: 1D20+3 => (20 + 3) = 23 = Hit (Natural 20) If Bastet's EAC is 23 or less, it is also a CRIT!

Damage: 4D6 => (5 +6 +6 +1) = 18

Crit damage: 4D6 => (3 +2 +4 +6) = 15

So 18 Electrical / Magical Damage if not a crit
OR
33 Electrical / Magical Damage if a crit

Attack = 23 = Hit (Natural 20)

If Bastet's EAC is 23 or less, it is also a CRIT!

Jordayn gave Jexa a thumbs up at the tremendous clout across the face she delivered with a spell and the butt of her pistol, but could only managed garbled choking sounds with the infuriated goddess's hand around his throat. He used both hands and twisted his body like a caught fish, his chest heaving, but could break free of her implacable strength.

Sunshine's innate distaste for cats tempted her to action, but she realized the chance of hitting Jordayn was high, so she turned around and concentrated on the priest, going low where Gorunta went high and trying to throw them off balance with a carefully placed laser pistol shot.

Jexa seemed to have the desicated remains of the goddess well in hand, so with a smooth motion Evie broke aside and ran for the priest.  He flailed at her but she hooked her arm upward under his own, her blade jabbing into his back as she did so.  He felt no pain, but the impact put him off balance enough for her to lurch him forward, right as her knee upward.  Her pistol fell from her hand and she balled her fist as it lurched backwards now, punching it directly in the face.  "People like you are the reason I'm not a cat person!"

She back up and stood beside Gorunta, shaking the numbing pain from her fist.  "Ow... now I remember why I kick things..."  She flexed her hand a few times and her pistol digitally reformed in her grip.

Spoiler

Move - Closing the distance on the priest, 3 attackers so he's flanked.
Attack - Melee (8 damage with her knife)
Free - Dropping pistol
Swift - Summoning pistol back to her hand.

Echo flinched a little at the burst of light coming from Jexa, and had to adjust her aim to account for Jordayn being hauled up in front of the cat cat cat goddess. Even so, she figured she'd try to keep the pressure on. What good was a godless priest, right? Or, what evil was an...evil goddessless... Bleh, words.

She lacked the magic touch this time, but even her own overcharging gave the gun a bit more kick than it would normally get. Not enough though, ugh. The powerpack was already starting to get really hot. Maybe one more blast. Then she'd be down to ineffectual flailing and strong language to take this thing down.

Arc attack (unjazzed): 1d20+8 15 2d6+6 12

The priest reeled from the continued onslaught leaning back he avoided the slash of Gorunta's sword only to get stabbed in the face by the female. With a yowl of frustration he lashed out with the scepter striking both Gorunta and Evana!

Bastet echos the priest except her howl is one of rage. With a mighty surge she lifts Jordayn like a rag doll and swings him like a club at Jexa. The collision of Jordayn and Jexa is jarring and he two become entangled as the raging howl becomes one of fear and horror. One of Bastet's arms grasping Jordayn had broken clean off at the elbow sending the Half Elf and Lashunta staggering backwards while the goddess holds up her stump and cries in anguish!

Spoiler

Jexa was rearing her pistol back to bitch slap the 'goddess' once again when the feline swung her friend at her. With a shift of her balance and a tiny burst from her jumpjets, Jexa managed to avoid the blow at the expense of her own attempt at offense, the swing of her pistol missing the feline by a wide margin, leaving the electricity arcing all around the pistol in her hand to harmlessly disburse.

The lashunta blinked at the sight of the arm tearing off of Bastet, leaving a stump in it's place. It was not something she had been expecting, but it did make since with Jordayn's interference in the ritual.

"Aww.. did the vaginal rejuvenation ritual get interrupted? Well, if you think that sucked, then just wait until the big guy buries his sword in your face." she teased as she regained her footing and balance,  mildly annoyed at the waste of her spell. Jexa could feel her arcane reserved dwindling, but knew she still had a few tricks up her sleeve.

"Thanks for the save, Jex" Jordayn rasped, staggering to his feet then taking a step back to catch his balance. With a convulsive shudder, he yanked the detached arm still grasping his throat - if weakly now - and threw it away. He raised his arc pistol, pointing it in Bastet's general direction then took a moment to steady his hand and eyesight.

"Hand off, bitch!"

The priest continued to shirk of round after round of gunfire, each shot spewing off dust in a cloud that tore through his undead frame but seemed to be doing little to halt its vigor.  "Ugh!" Evie grunted in frusration.  "Iomidea's ass cheeks!  Why won't you just die!"  She squeezed off a round and produced another cloud.  She considered what she'd said took on a confused expression, "Er, again!  Oh, you know what I mean!"

She rose up and kicked the priest in the chest, hard.  The heel of her boot punched through his ancient body with a rank hiss that exposed a millenia of rancid, magically preserved but completely unneeded organs.  She winced from the smell, backing away to let Gorunta catch a whiff.  "Ugh... oh... gods..."  he boot heel was covered the slick, black, oil-like substance of liquefied organs.  She recoiled in disgust, shaking her boot as best she could to get it off.  "Oh... oh, that's just foul... what is that?  Ugh... you're disgusting, I just hope you know!" She chastised the priest.

Spoiler

Attack: Got a 2.  Even with all the bonuses in the world, she would still have missed.

Move: Getting the goo off her designer Big Damn Hero boots.

The mummy priest reeled from the series of blows but even as Gorunta readied his sword to strike again and Evana tried to shake the goop from her boot the grievous wounds began to heal before their very eyes.

With a hiss the priest raised its arms Staff pointing at the two before him his sunken eyes glowing and incandesant blue a abominable incataiton gurgling from its dried horrid lips...when something flew past Goruntas head and smashed onto the priests chest right above where Evana had kicked it.

A small dog, a Poodalphin to be exact. With a tiny growl the animal sunk it's teeth into the priests neck and locked it's jaws. Then another dog landed on the priests arm and another and another. The Heroes looked around and saw that the canines which had fled were now back and attacking the Priest and Goddess relentlessly in a wave of canine vengeance.

Several minutes later the Dogs were finished and milling around wagging tails and trying to get the humanoids to pet them the two undead felines where torn apart and scattered and returned to dust and bone fragments. The drow walked up to the dismembered and quite dead Priest and spit on his desiccated skull she was carrying a dog which looked like a cross between a miniature doberman and a greyhound.

A commotion back at elevator revealed a group of armed and uniformed men descending be led by none other than Atuz Gelt

Jexa crouched down and started petting and scratching the dogs near the priest with a broad smile on her face.

"Who's a bunch of good boys? Yes you are!" she was saying cheerfully while inconspicuously reached over to slip the forcefield projector off of the priest, a skill learned and honed over years of travel with 'questionable' people, and slipped into a pocket long before the elevator reached the bottom.

Spoiler

24 on Slight of Hand roll.

Spoiler

Slight of Hand +9
1D20+9 => (15 + 9) = 24

< Hey. You got a dimension pocket, right? Wanna be that Bastet's staff and scepter would fetch a cute credit? Just sayin'. > she thought to Jordayn as she looked around for the drow girl.

"Hey, lemme see our arc pistols, I can move all the charges to one enough to give you a an undershot or shot or two, just in case." she said to Echo.

"And by the way, is anybody hurt?" she asked curiously, looking to her teammates.

At the fall of one commotion came the rise of another as Atuz Gelt and his men poured in through the elevator.  Evana tapped her heel to the stone several times and remnants of the ichor oozed off.  "Thanks for the after thought, sweetie." Evie said to Jexa with a look a kin to both sarcasm and telling her off.

She stepped out to greet Atuz as he was approaching everyone.  "Someone grab that thing," she nodded in the direction of the scepter, keeping it as low key as possible while giving them all an incredibly shady, wide-eyed look.  "I'm not walking out of here broke.  Deal was for the dog, rest is finders keepers..."

"...Atuz!"  She held her arms out wide with a billion credit smile beaming wide.  "Sweetie, we have one hell of a story for you, but, guess who we found."  She pointed to where Jexa was and waved her over to return the dog-thing (and keep the attention away from any riches and cultural relics her crew mates were loading up).

21 hours ago, Evana said:

"I'm not walking out of here broke.  Deal was for the dog, rest is finders keepers..."

"At the very least, you do deserve a new pair of boots, Eva," Jordayn agreed with a grin, sliding the Scepter into the Null Space Chamber projected from a cuff on his left arm. He gave Jexa a nod and the undead priest's Staff followed after the Scepter into the extradimensional space.

<I'm sure there's enough around we can scoop up to spread a few credits around afterwards,> he replied to Jexa. <And now we'll see if Atuz is going to hold to his part of the agreement.>

While Evana engaged Atuz with the good news about the recovery of his Princess, Jordayn walked about glancing at any ritual items or burial gifts laying about, picking out any that drew his eye as being interesting or of mystic relevance that could be repurposed for other enchantments and adding them to his Null Space Mk 1. Jordayn felt more enriched by experiences than credits, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy bouts of ease and luxury, nor faulted others who did, even those whose relationship with the law were shall we say, complicated.

A canine with golden fur, too many legs, vicious looking yellowed teeth and doleful brown eyes began following the Priest around and Jordayn gave him pats as he went about his search. All and all, it was a good day - they'd completed their assignment and recovered their client's precious poodolphin and even better, prevented the rise of an old, dark goddess.

Coming abreast of the drow woman, he gave her a charming grin, his eyes going to the dog in her arms as an excuse to give her an appreciative once over. Drow elves were notoriously mercenary, but she was stunning all the same.

"I'm glad with all else going on, we were able to free you, Miss, along with all these adorable pups. I'm Jordayn, a Priest-Companion to Arshea. If there is someplace you wish to go, we have a ship and may be able to accommodate you."

Gorunta also stood with Evana, adding his bulk to the cover of the through pillaging his compatriots were arranging. He narrowed his eyes though, wondering where the prince had suddenly secured an armed force and gotten them to following him. "And you found some people. Who're they?"

Sunshine was perfectly content to let the other, flashier members of the team take point while she patted the place down. She paused to give the cat goddess a slight kick as she passed. Never did like them.

Anything both obvious and small went in her cheek pouches without hesitation, including a freshly reloaded laser pistol. She stopped to pet one of the dogs, and it wuffed at her, the two of them united in a shared dislike of cats.

Echo went to Jexa, whom she deemed the least likely to burst into a musical number right now and therefore the least objectionable, and handed over the two arc pistols.

"The next job has to involve robots," she gripes. "And computers. And wires and shit. I'm going to be spending much more time getting dog hair off of me than I ever wanted to."

She kept an eye on Atuz though. To her mind, it was never a great thing when someone showed up right after a big fight. It implied that they'd been watching, waiting, for the right moment to swoop in when one side was gone and the other was vulnerable.

Jexa raised an eyebrow with the corresponding antenna standing straight up while the other one went nearly limp.

"Cleaning off dog hair? You are worried about that?" she said as she gestured at Echo, causing a small, glowing halo to form above the android's head and then slowly move down her body, expanding and contracting as needed, cleaning off the dog hair as it passed down the length of her body.

"Some people worry about the strangest shit, I swear." she said teasingly as she held an arch pistol in each hand and made a small incantation, causing a small, glowing ring or blue, mechanical looking runes to circle each of them for a moment, before vanishing.

"There you go. I moved all the charges left in my arc pistol to your own. Show be good for at least a few big shots if shit goes sideways with 'the authorities', or whoever the hell it is Atuz brought with him... conveniently showing up when all the heavy lifting is done with." she said, tossing the arc pistol back to Echo while concealing her own back in its secret compartment once again.

Spoiler

Used Token Spell to 'clean' Echo's clothes/gear and then Transfer Charge to, well, transfer the charges from one arc pistol to the other. Both are level 0 spells.
