Captain Mar

- - - NPC - - -

Name: Addo Mar
Occupation: Former Imperial Customs Captain
Legal Status: Wanted by the Empire
Homeworld: Ballor Prime
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9" (175.25 cm)
Weight: 178.5 lbs (81 kg)
Hair Color: Gray
Eye Color: Brown
Skin Color: Fair
Apparent Age: Late fifties to early sixties

Captain Mar is an older man, with the somewhat heavy build and broad shoulders common to the people of Ballor Prime. His gray hair is worn rather short and a thick mustache hides his upper lip. Despite his age, his eyes have a glimmer of mirth and cleverness to them at times.

Easy going and calm, but authoritative when he needs to be. He has a somewhat fatherly (or grandfatherly) bearing and at least a hint of charisma. Due to his decades in Republic and then Imperial Customs, he has seen a great many things and is rarely caught off guard. Quick thinking.

Captain Mar served in Republic Customs and then Imperial Customs when the Empire came to power. He spoke up to his superiors when he began to see the shift in policy and treatment of spacers at the hands of the Empire, but quickly learned to quite down as some of his former Republic Customs colleagues began to vanish after speaking out similarly.

Over roughly three decades in Customs Mar has risen through the ranks, but found the ceiling due to damage he done to his career by speaking out, never being promoted any higher than Captain of a Imperial Customs Guardian Light Cruiser. He remained in Customs though, trying to make what small difference he could and continued conducting his duties in the same manner and respect that he always had while attempting to pass it along to the next wave of Customs officers. It was in so doing that he met Talmod "Tal" Thane, a young ensign that took what Mar had to say to heart and took the young ensign under his wing.

Finally word reached Mar of a Jedi taken into custody on a Customs Frigate and in a few scant minutes Mar gathered up the few others he knew had grown disenchanted with the Empire and hatched a plan to free the Jedi and the crew that was being held for transporting her. Making his escape with the Jedi, the crew that was guilty by association and a handful of Imperials, Mar became a wanted man and set out to make some difference in the galaxy.

Ensign Tal

- - - NPC - - -

Name: Talmod "Tal" Thane
Occupation: Former Imperial Customs Ensign
Legal Status: Wanted by the Empire
Homeworld: Coruscant
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1" (185.4 cm)
Weight: 175 lbs (79.3 kg)
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Black
Skin Color: Very fair
Apparent Age: Early twenties

Tal is a tall and slender young man, clean shaven with short hair and a smile is never far from his lips.

Easy going and jovial. He uses humor to make the best of a bad situation and ease tension, but can be serious and focused when needed.

Tal grew up on Cosurscant under the rule of the Empire as far back as he can remember. He watched the holovids about at the Empire as he grew up and saw it is a force for peace and order. The Imperial propaganda worked well on him, inspiring him to enlist at a young age where he was assigned to Imperial Customs.

During his time in customs Tal began to see the underbelly of the Empire. The treatment of aliens, the arrogance of the officers and the general corruption of the idealized Empire he had in his mind. While contemplating leaving Customs he was assigned to a cruiser under command of Captain Addo Mar. In Mar he could see a man who took pride in is job. He protected the freighters and travelers, treating them with respect while hunting down the pirates and slavers with true dedication. The two became close and Mar took Tal under his wing/

Tal served under Mar for nearly a year and learned a great deal from the older Captain. Not just about performing his job, but he also heard war stories from Mar about the Clone Wars and tales of the Jedi who he served along side during many a late night patrol. So when Mar came to him with the idea of rescuing a Jedi and an innocent crew Tal signed on. He had learned to trust Mar's judgement and if this Jedi was even a shadow of the brave Knights Mar had described, then together they might be able affect some change for the better in galaxy, no matter how small..

Inquisitor Cynis

- - - NPC - - -

Name: Desree Cynis
Occupation: Imperial Inquisitor
Homeworld: Kuat
Species: Kuati (Near-Human)
Gender: Female
Height: 5'11" (182 cm)
Weight: 135 lbs (61 kg)
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Black
Skin Color: Very fair/pale
Apparent Age: Early thirties

Inquisitor Cynis is a product of Kuati nobility as is obvious by her eyes and noble bearing. She is tall woman with a slender shapely figure that she is fond of showing off in her black bodysuit accented with metal vambraces and knee-guards. A cape hangs off of her back, black on the outside  with the dark maroon of the Inquisitors inside. Her hair is dark and short, swept back and her skin is plae, even by the standards of nobility. she wears headdress and earrings, heirlooms of her family worn by the Kuati nobles long ago. She rarely, if ever, carries a blaster, instead preferring to have the vast troops at her disposal commit violence on her behalf. Some rumors suggest though that she is not above using the ancient weapon she carries at her side...

Cynis wears a mask of etiquette and refinement due to her Kuati heritage. She carries herself with an arrogant, regal bearing, but speaks with a pleasant, melodic voice. When pleased, she can seem plesant and even generous and jovial, but when angered one can see cracks in her mask. Her eyes darken and cheeks tighten and she exudes a quiet menace that puts even battle hardened Stormtroopers on edge. When her anger is expressed she can be downright terrifying. So depending on her pleasure or displeasure in the moment, she can be the carrot.. or the stick.

What little is know about Inqiusitor Cynis thus far comes from Arcata...

On 11/23/2015 at 6:39 PM, SalmonMax said:

"However, you haven't made enemies of 'the Empire'; a faceless, monolithic force that is nevertheless finite and can be avoided. You have made enemies with Inquisitor Cynis." She pronounced the name with thick irony and barely concealed grinding of teeth. "She is brilliant, perceptive, and known even by other Inquisitors as being utterly relentless. By now she has complete files on each of us, and is likely already organizing the search. She will not stop until each of us is in her grasp, or dead; the only way we will pass beyond her power."

Arcata turned to face the others.

"It's not just about this one Jedi, you see. She will assume, for the purposes of the investigation, that we are all willing accomplices, and can lead her to still more of them. Imperial Security is not limited by the boundaries of Imperial territory, and the Inquisitors have fewer limits still."

"Go where you like. Lead what lives you can lead. She will find you."

A soothing voice and a friendly, yet soft demeanor earned the droid a reputation for politeness and courtesy. The TU series was designed to look as warm and non-threatening as possible to ease the apprehension and even fear some being have in regard to droids and medicine in general, especially children.

The TU series is also programmed with significant culinary skill as well as the ability to appraise foodstuffs, thereby ensuring it could prepare the highest quality and most nutritional meals possible. To aid in this the droid is also able to manage a household budget which has resulted in many of the series being given a credit account of their own to manage by their owners. The droid keeps track of the medical evaluations of those it serves and uses that information to plan out meals to ensure general good health and nutrition.

It's demeanor, politeness and non-threatening appearance also help make the droid quite persuasive, be it calming a patient or encourage a diner to eat of their vegetables, making it excellent at dealing with children. All of these features, combined with the fact that it carries a multitude of medical scanners and medicine dispensers had led the droid to often filling the role of a nanny to the children of the wealthy and elite. Continued exposure and service to the same individuals often results in the droid developing a deep devotion and attachment to the beings it serves, a quirk that many parents and families see a positive feature. Indeed many families and children become quite attached to the sweet, little droids, leading to some of the TU series serving the same family for generations.

The FR-series was designed by Serv-O-Droid to capitalize on the success of their pit droid and has many similarities. The FR-series droids are thin, almost skeletal, with little attention given to make them ascetically pleasing. This saves on weights, allows them to fit into tight space and enabled them to fold up into a small metal 'crate' for storage and transport.

The droids have a certain eagerness hardwired in which makes them literally run to their tasks and carry them out as quickly as they can. This has given them a reputation as being a bit bubbling and sloppy in their work, which could not be father from the truth. The do rush to their tasks and occasionally cause a minor hiccup in their autogryo and coordination matrix, but their work is actually quite clean and efficient  The reputation has stuck though, causing many spacers to avoid taking the chance on them when sloppy work could mean the difference between life and death in the depths of space.

Though fully capable of working alone or with an organic being, those who have given the FR-series a chance have discovered that they work extremely well in groups. This is due to a wireless communications array allowing them convey information much faster than vocalizing it as well as their identical programming, causing them to 'think' alike. As a result, spacers often let them work on their own in pairs or small groups as the introduction of an organic being would simply slow them down.

The FR-series comes with one of three programming packages making them suitable for starfighter, space transport or capital ship repairs, with their processors designed to learn quickly and adapt to the ship that they are assigned.  Also, much like their smaller pit droid 'cousins', the FR-series is a very hardly design. They easily withstand hard vacuum, hazardous atmospheres, burns, electrocution, cuts and extremes of radiation as well as severe impacts and falls. This durability also had the side effect of making them extremely resistant to ionization.
