Aberrant RPG - Help w/ Elemental Mastery/Anima?

I have a player that would like to create a character with the power to create/control sound. We was looking at EM/EA for this. But the problem is not all of the technics would be suitable from this and others, such as hyper movemnet (you know the travel at the speed of sound), falls out side of EM/EA. Not problem with buy other powers to flesh out the character but for the 5 technics ..... what would be good technics for EM/EA?

Any examples of this type of charcter would be great. Or powers/technics that would be best suited for this character.

Okay some power for sound suite things.

Shater.Some titems when hit witht eh right sound waves just break apart.this lets a chartcer break things aroudn him that would be damaged in such away. this like rocks,and glass, maybe evne bone.

You can not only make sound you can make lack of sound as well, area damping would turn off sound ..ir no sound in that area or only sound form that things and the sound from ehr only goes so far.

deafing.target people or things do nto hear anythign at all.

or you could make people hear everything...And make them hear it loud enough to hurt.

While sound fills the world around us IMO Mastery would be a better bet for a real sound based PC. Being able to generate sound instead of just manipulating existing sound offers a lot more potential.

Existing Techniques

Enhance / Diminish - perfect for manipulating volume on existing sounds.

Lethal Blast - just seems more appropriate for sound. Normal Blast would work too.

Shaping - sort of appropriate. I would treat this as working kind of like a cross between shaping per the book (which seems to be geared towards solids & liquids) and the Holo power. Think of this as the power to create sound shapes and illusions. This is the power he would use to create complex things like music.

Sphere & Storm - both fit perfectly.

Shield & Wall - these are iffy IMO. You would need to define exactly what a shield of focused sound is going to stop.

Imprison & Propel - Personally I would say these are out for most PCs. Would need a very convincing reason to have them.

Personally I would replace the last 4 mentioned techniques with some from the list below.

Other Powers

Disorient, Strobe, Stunning Attack, & Silence (from Project Utopia) - can be bought as separate powers or at half power / dice pool as part of the Elemental Mastery power.

Shockwave - could be adapted from Mega Str, but Storm might be a better choice.

Disintegrate, Empathic Manipulation, Healing, & Quantum Construct - examples of powers that might be justified as odd sound based effects after gaining 3+ dots in Elemental Mastery. Should always be bought as separate powers.

Example -

First buy Quantum - 3 with Freebies

10 NP Quantum – 5

3 NP Mega Perception – 1 (Hyperenhanced Hearing)

3 NP Mega Stamina – 1 (Regeneration – the healing power of sound)

1 NP Sensory Shield: Sound – 1

3 NP Invulnerability: Sound – 1

5 NP Elemental Mastery: Sound – 1 (can’t do a lot to start but will grow powerful)

1 NP Add 6 points of Abilities (buy art & performance up to 5 dots each)

2 NP Willpower – 5

1 NP Backgrounds + 5 (buy Eufiber 5)

1 NP Attributes + 3 (buy up Stamina, Dex, Wits, or Cha)

Starting bashing soak will likely be between 8 to 10 with the Eufiber. A bit low, but with 30 NP most of the time what you are doing is building the base your PC will grow from. Mega Wits & Mega Dex would also be good bets for this PC.

If you are going to get a bit of taint the Quantum and the Elemental Mastery are the best targets. Here is the same PC tainted and built for power.

First buy Quantum - 3 with Freebies

Buy Eufiber – 5 with normal background choices

6 NP Quantum – 5 (tainted)

3 NP Mega Perception – 1 (Hyperenhanced Hearing)

3 NP Mega Stamina – 1 (Regeneration – the healing power of sound)

3 NP Mega Wits – 1 (Multitasking – lets the PC dodge and attack)

1 NP Sensory Shield: Sound – 1

3 NP Invulnerability: Sound – 1

9 NP Elemental Mastery: Sound – 3 (tainted)

1 NP Willpower – 4

1 NP Attributes + 3 (buy up Stamina, Dex, or Wits)

Starting Taint is 6 so he will have 3 aberrations.

Well,let's see.I would say that he could talk in echos.No mater what.Like he had his reverb on too high.You know the efect.

I get's no sleep.He can't sleep as long as he is not in a complet sound proof area.As even the slightest nose it too much for him to sleep threw.

and for the big one.. echo of the body. He is moch like soud that be blurs and leaves after shaows of himself as he moves.

Just for fun I wanted to mention an aberration I thought of. It would be a high level one.

Subvocalized Thoughts - the nova's very thoughts are created as whispers of sound. If someone near the nova is listening closely he or she can tell what said nova is thinking. The literal stream of conscious thought is constantly going in monologue fashon for this nova.

Also Flagg feel free to add any level one or two powers that are not represented in the Em/EA packages as a technique, I would exclude Q bolt for the obvious. Hyper movement could well be a technique, The harshest thing about EA/EM, and Frostbite realized this, is while with each level of EM/EA you get new technique and increase the rating for th powers over all, The technique is usually a lesser counter part to a level 2 power. and you still pay 3 quantum to use it... and you can not get extras for the techniques or EA/EM at creation outset. I would suggest Using the standard Powers for the Core of the character, using Q bolt, or disorient as Primary attack power. Hypermovement, then get EA/EM and round out with other techniques. But for Primary use purchase regular stand alone Powers.
