Idris (hidden)

Rebekka (ringer [Asian])

Grav (big show)

Edward (support)

,,

The heart of Japan, home to the seat of government, the twenty-three cities and home of the imperial family: it was a bright and shining city, especially in the early morning light of a Saturday. Children hurried to and fro, free from school. Adults enjoyed early lunches or late shopping, depending on how they wanted to spend the day. The downtown of one of the busiest cities in the world was bustling.

,,

Shibuya crossing was as busy as ever; cars rolled down its wide length until stopped by lights; then people flooded over the intersection. It was to this iconic location that David had sent the four mutants. The plan was simple – Idris would be hidden and waiting to provide backup. Edward was to stand with Grav; she was to make a big show and then – together or separately – they would announce their presence to the world and decry the evils of DEHA. Rebekka would be in the crowd to lead their responses to the desired outcome.

,,

They’d been slipped into Japan the night before and put up in a hotel room in the Shibuya area. It gave them a chance to relax, feel out the city and clarify the details of their plan. David had given them the specifics and even a speech if they wanted it but the details were all theirs to determine.

Idris was in a mood.

,,

She didn't like re-visiting Tokyo, and this was dredging up old feelings. Of Akihito. But that was then. Now she didn't have a cage and yet with all this freedom she was still a prisoner. In her own skin. Today... today was when she started off on the road of yet another jail break. She didn't care if mutant-kind got out with her. She just wanted to walk the streets without thinking someone would gas her. Or worse.

,,

She straightened out the black turtleneck she had on. She didn't like having anything around her neck after getting her collar off, but for normal clothes, that and the black cargoes she had on would suffice.

,,

She was already formulating a plan but she didn't know where Rebekka would make her move. Not yet, anyways. Problem is anywhere public was well... public. Hard to hide and harder to deal with. She would stand out like sore thumb no matter the location.

,,

"So... I'm playing overwatch? Hard to do without a sniper rifle, and there really isn't anything hidden 'round here, luv."

,,

She looked about the room. "Just wantin' a gameplan."

"Oh, Idris-chan, that is far from the truth," Rebekka replied in sweet, dulcet tones, as she turned from the mirror after shifting her clothing and appearance one more time. "Japan is a tradition-bound, conservative, straight-laced society. But hidden behind closed doors, the laces come undone and the kinks come out."

,,

Rebekka chuckled - she did love the dichotomy inherent to the Japanese culture. She had spent a fair bit of time here, over the decades, ransacking the brightest minds of their tech sector. Many had perversions that were quite delightful, and vigorous, a response to the rectitude of public behaviour.

,,

"A corollary to that, Idris-chan, is that segments of the population rebel against the strictures of society by donning a truly bewildering array of fashions." Rebekka flashed the cat-woman a subtle smile as she reached over, picking up a box the others had noted earlier, and pulled off the top. "Of course, in many cases, the rebellion is superficial at most, the most fanatical otaku as much an adherent to custom and tradition as the most proper salaryman."

,,

Warm, chocolate brown eyes flicked teasingly towards Edward for a moment, before she pulled out the item Rebekka had had the foresight to acquire earlier. It was a mask, a mask depicting an anime character, with the too large eyes, too small nose and mouth, and pink hair in a physics-ignoring style. She handed the mask to Idris, who took it, head cocked with uncertainty.

,,

"Fortunately, decorum means no one will call you on your fashion choice, at least in public," Rebekka assured Idris, gesturing her to put on the mask.

,,

Reluctantly, Idris did so. Surprising, the mask was quite light, relatively comfortable and non-confining, though it did limit her peripheral vision somewhat. Her ears where hidden in the pink hair, but she could hear fine. Rebekka cocked a brow - dressed all in black, with the anime mask, Idris presented a disconcerting figure. On the other hand, strolling through the Shibuya district, you could find much stranger and disconcerting ones.

,,

"There we go - hardly a felinoid mutant to be seen, save for those wondering around dressed up as nekojin. Shall we go? The world is waiting for us to make our appearance, though they know it not."

~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~

Shortly thereafter, Rebekka was wondering the Shibuya shopping district, to all outward appearances, an attractive and vivacious native Tokyoite, seeing and being seen as she shopped. Idris haunted the pedestrian cat-walks, using the elevation to give herself a greater line of sight. She drew eyes, but no more, and no more than many others in the district. Edward lingered near the upscale shops, a wealthy urban professional in Japan on business.

,,

And in the commercial square the three of them surrounded, Grav prepared to make the world aware of the mutants in their midst.

Idris had, before everyone rolled out, grabbed her trenchcoat, long enough to hide her tail under it. The choice of mask was disconcerting. The color pink always annoyed her. Luckily the eyes on the mask were designed to not reduce the majority of her peripheral vision. Although Idris carefully made a couple more holes in each eye strategically, just to ensure that she had more vision.

,,

"Okay." Idris said, walking along next to Rebekka. "So, I am thinking, we're playing a tug of war and we've just dropped the rope on the opposing team. The DHEA isn't going to be pleased when we unleash this. Then again what we're doing is the equivalent of popping a child's balloon. The tantrum will be both dangerous... and succulent."

,,

She was grinning under her mask at the look of people wondering what was up with her and the mask. "I feel like such a troll."

Anna shrugged. This wasn't exactly ideal, and to be fair what she did could kill alot of people. She'd try to aoid it, at least until the DEHA showed up, and knew the others present would cover for her.

,,

At the appointed time, She Stepped out of the crosswalk into the center of the square, and simply rose into the air. This was noticed instantly, as a whorl of distorted gravity formed around her, a black-purple aura, that in one moment pulsed out, covering a large portion of the square, The higher than normal gravity zone she created left the edges alone, but caught nearly everyone in the walks, bringing them to an instant halt, and quickly down to their knees.

,,

"There now" She spoke in English, knowing there was a good chance some there would understand. "Now That I have your undivided Attention, I've come to deliver a message to you, to all of Homo Sapiens really, but more to you who're not part of the DEHA."

,,

"Our Days of Slavery are at an end. We could have been your brothers, moving hand in hand towards the future, one that was bright and hopeful. The DEHA instead chose a darker path for us all. Mutants have been enslaved for your gain, and when that hasn't worked, we were slain, for no greater crime than being a mutant. We've been set upon our own kind, in their sick and twisted games of fighting fire with fire. This will end. I call to all Mutants, join us, rise up and cast off the shackles that bind you to beings who cannot comprehend you. Throw down those who would call themselves your masters, and fight with us against the DEHA. Show them they have underestimated our will and resolve, and most assuredly our Power."

,,

She cast her gaze to the fearful humans beneath her. "I came here not to harm you, but to expose the lies the DEHA has told you. Forgive my imobilizing you, but only in this way could I make you hear me, whether any choose to listen, that is up to you." As she finished, she released her captive audience, to run or stand as they would. Her own defenses were fully activated, and she looked like some beautiful white-haired, golden-eyed goddess, Hovering above them, out of reach but forever ensconced within their minds.

"Shit. This is going south already... might as well have attacked everyone." Idris said, keeping close to Rebekka. "Is this what David wanted Grav to do? Was this part of the plan?"

,,

This was too aggressive if you wanted to win hearts and minds. Idris just sighed, prepared for things to really get out of hand fast. Namely watching the crowd. Who knows if there was DEHA cells operating among the public. If Idris had her way this operation would have been deployed far more differently.

Out on the edges of the effect, where people weren’t affected by the gravity pull, the watchers started to clap and cheer. Rebekka could hear someone close by ask if it was a stunt for a new anime or movie. “If so, it looks like a good one!” the young woman said cheerfully. “That’d be a great villain!”

,,

The ones who had been inside the effect were less prosaic. Some of them were starting to cry as they got up from their knees. A few ran, pushing through the crowds. Some stared with wide eyes, afraid to run. A few gazed with eyes that were not afraid but full of wonder.

,,

Quick reminder: the reason the bystander jumped straight to villain is because of the media persistence in showing non-humans as all evil. It’s like attempting to show a good Nazi in cinema during the 1940’s. It could be done but it’s far more likely that a mutant would be seen as the bad guy by most people.

"The goal is to make the world aware of our existence, Neko-chan," Rebekka said, subtly suggesting they be wary which names they use in public, as she feigned a look of wonder and surprise at the sight of Anna. "A gentle demonstration would be easier to rationalize away. First comes shock, then comes reassurance. Now, try for those pedestrian overpasses and keep watch while I... mingle."

,,

Giving Idris a gentle push in the direction of the newest pedestrian bridge, Rebekka glided forward with distracted grace, eyes on Anna as she joined the closest knot of watchers. With an ease earned through her own experience and the experiences she had stolen, Rebekka joined their animated conversation, debating if the woman was promoting a new series or an established one, and if so, which one and which character.

,,

It took the social and physical chameleon mere moments to create a rapport with the group of onlookers. "I... don't think it's a stunt. I think this is real."

,,

Rebekka didn't just point out why this may be so, but rather, using body language and subtle social cues, she got the others to really look and find the inconsistencies with a staged production themselves. With that, it was easier to have them mirror her own affected wonder and excitement instead of succumbing to worry and anxiety or terror.

,,

"Don't you know what this means? If one like her is real, there must be others. We have been lied to! For generations! Who are the real villains here? The one who has stepped from the pages of manga to reveal the truth, or the ones who have hidden it from us? I... must go, and tell my sister of this fantastic event!"

,,

Rebekka hustled off, leaving a new conversation in her wake as she circled around to join another group, and another after that, and another. Rebekka used a varying array of logical and emotional manipulation and misdirection on the witnesses to this fantastic and unbelievable (for them) event.

,,

She reinforced the government lying to them and Anna being the truthful with some. With others ahe pretended to work in show business and informed them how what they were seeing couldn't possibly be a trick, but was in fact, real. In some cases, it was better and more efficient to not redirect the anger and fear, but let it flow as people ran, spreading word of mutants further through the city.

,,

She preyed on national pride, mentioning how the Americans so feared the Other during WWII, they imprisoned thousands of Nihonjin in concentration camps, despite any protestations of innocence. Was Nippon not more cultured and fearless, able to meet the Other, to learn and teach eye-to-eye. To others, Rebekka painted a picture of the Kami, powerful and ethereal, fearsome if angered, a great boon to those who grant them respect.

,,

Rebekka spoke and cajoled dozens of times in the square, using dozens of reasons. She kept the same face, but was a number of different women as need arose, as she spiraled around the square, closing in on Grav, hovering above them.

,,

If anyone had the wit and vantage point to see, they would see a masterpiece being sculpted before them, crafted with social dynamics and lies wielded as easily as clay in a potter's hands. The Archive's gifts might not have been as dramatic as many other mutants', but they could be terrifying in their application.

,,

Rebekka felt the thrill of danger and arousal. There was only Idris on overwatch and Edward to back-up Anna, though an escape plan or three had been previously arranged. Still, if and when DEHA showed up, if they had a sniffer, Rebekka stood a good chance of being caught. If they didn't, she could walk right up to them and they would never know.

,,

They thought of what DEHA would do to her flooded her with a terrible desire.

,,

Rebekka helped a sobbing woman to her feet, one almost directly below Grav. With gentle fingers, she wiped the tears from her face, imploring that the demonstration had been more surprising than harmful. She had memories of this woman - she had known Kamiko's husband, and thus, knew her. It was hard to prevent herself from kissing her on the forehead, kissing away her distress.

,,

Raising her voice, as if to be heard of the rising murmurs of the those around them, but really for Grav's benefit, Rebekka suggested that it only looked like a small display of power, and that Kamiko should save her tears for a greater display of wonder to come.

Grav seemed to be content to wait, the obvious target for whatever Response the DEHA would plan. The couldn't leave her exposed as a mutant like this for long, espousing the ideals that they hated, anything that ran counter to their own views that mutants were evil. She idly wondered if she should leave them a message, wrought from materials at hand, but she'd given a message of at least general peace to humanity, the part not associated with the DEHA. Destroying property wouldn't help that. She insteand scanned the skies and crowds, rising higher, hoping to see the response coming.

Idris knew if there is a plan, it's in play, so it was better to play her part. She moved through the crowd, actually away from the point of interest with Grav, heading to where she was ordered, one of the pedestrian overpasses overlooking the area. She liked having a higher ground. She mumbled under her mask...

,,

"Gods? How can man be god? It's the powers that be that push people to the extreme... want the truth, you guys hid it for far too long. Ask them." She said, her ears moving in a way as to suggest those cute "Nekomimi" style ear headbands that reacted to biofeedback. "You hold back the truth and it will bubble and boil like water under pressure, and sooner or later... pop."

,,

Idris was playing her own game. Getting people to think. If mutants were real and the information was being suppressed... there was something to be said for popping people's bubble of comfort now that she saw it.

,,

"Whatcha mean, truth, Otaku?" Someone said in Japanese. But they knew English well enough.

,,

Idris turned to the person passing, dismissing Idris as nothing but some oddball anime-obsessed tourist. "Simple... look at that." She said, pointing to Grav hovering in the air. "That is no special effect, sir. That is the truth." She leaned against the fence, making sure her tail didn't move as if there was bone and tendon there. "It's been right under your nose... out of the corner of your eye. It's nothing to be afraid of, it's those scared of losing their power on the masses that want you to be afraid."

,,

Idris was playing off all the science fiction one of her guards used to watch all the time. "The start of a new era is always frightening. Particularly the most wonderful ones." She said looking about the crowds. She hated not being armed, but then again she still was. Her claws if needed were more than up to the task, if she had time to close the distance.

,,

The worker was frozen in awe. "Your mouth is open." Idris playfully pointed out.

A man ten feet from Grav rippled oddly as his skin twisted and changed from a mediocre Japanese business man to a muscular man with white hair, twisted horns rising from his hair, and leathery bat wings. “Hmm, I love Japan,” he murmured in an English accent as his yellow eyes came to rest on a schoolgirl. The young girl shivered, her eyes widening in alarm as his thick, forked tongue wet all-too human lips suggestively—then her features went slack as she stared at him.

,,

Across the crowd, whenever someone laid eyes on the demon-shaped mutant, they seemed to lose control of themselves. They would stop moving and stare at him with wide eyes. His wings swept out wide, snapping sharply and lifting him into the air, allowing more to see him. At the same time, a woman darted from above to hover in front of him, between Grav and the demon. She was Chinese in appearance, with glowing green eyes and dancing green flames over her hands. She hovered protectively between them, her refined features set in hard lines as she met Grav’s gaze.

Mechanics - Must Read

. . Mass Hypnosis: Perception Area Affliction 10 (1st degree: Entranced, 2nd degree: Compelled, 3rd degree: Controlled, Resisted by: Will, DC 20; Perception Area)

,,

I've not included Edward in this since the player hasn't posted for him. I'm just having him sit out.

,,

Those who see Demon must make a Will Save vs DC 20 – as far as I know that’s all the PCs, given his relative position to Grav.

Please include initiatives with your check.

Idris' ear twitches. "Lovely." She knew the demon-like mutant was up to no good. And his probable partner as well. "That's not what we needed."
She runs off into the now panicking or paralyzed in fear crowd. That demon was going to be introduced as to why she was named rip. Her claws come out of her fingertips as she bee-lines for the Demon. She'll be in range of one of her signature attacks soon. "Showtime..." Grav sighed, even after the ineffective mental bombardment. The flame user beneath her couldn't be ignored, but she had to shut down the demonic looking mutant fast. Something in her stirred, as Dark began to push her way forward. After all the mental breaking and conditioning the young mutant had suffered, to be so blatantly hit with it, well, it left a bitter taste in her mouth, and a part saw his death as one more bit of black ink to balance the ledgers between her and the DEHA...

According to the table, Rebekka now has one Hero Point left. Unless Hero Points reset with the new thread, in which case she has no Hero Points left.

,,

Rebekka stared in hidden surprise at the sudden appearance of the Demonic mutant, yearning arousal rising at the thought of being defiled by it. Then she shook the need off, a faint frown gracing her enticing face.

,,

Either they were unlucky enough to make their revelations with other apparent mutants in the crowd or DEHA was quicker to respond then they were expecting. These new arrivals could end up turning public against mutants - either on their own recognizance or purposefully on DEHA's behalf.

,,

With not entirely feigned trepidation, Rebekka stepped closer to the tense grouping of Grav, the Oni, and the Maiden of Jade Flames. Added to the anxious concern on her delicate, stunning face, was a patina of bright-eyed wonder as she held up a beseeching hand.

,,

"Please, Divine Ones, do not quarrel," the beautiful, young woman Rebekka was pretending to be pleaded in Japanese, then repeated in stilted, accented English. "We have just learned you walk among us. This, it should a time of... of wonder, not conflict!"

Demon turned and looked down at Rebekka and the force of his personality, his power, washed over her again. She stood up to it, her faux innocent eyes meeting his. “There will be no war, if this errant child will return to her home,” the demonic creature told her, his smile leering wide. His forked tongue played over his lips as his eyes traced her body.

,,

Jade Fire remained silent, her focus totally on Grav. The green fire around her hands flared brighter, preparing for Grav’s attack.

Rip grinned. This was the moment she's always waited for. Instead of killing in the dead of night on someone's orders, she was fighting in the defense of normal people. There was a different feeling in her... was this having a purpose in life that was your own?

No matter, the introspection would have to wait. Action was needed, her teammates needed it... well more they needed her to be a team player and she wasn't going to leave them wanting.

When Idris lept into the air, there was a beauty to her that was something to see. The white light glinting off of her diamond-hard claws, the predatory litheness of her body, the faint striping on her tabby-pattern fur made her seem more akin to a Tiger than just a normal housecat.

Her ears pinned back to make her strike.

Grav could feel Dark pushing forward, and it was like two fighters in a Tag match, "Shut down the mentalist, but don't leave yourself vulnerabile to the fire user below."

,,

"None of these bitches will leave."

,,

"Try not to kill the innocents, our speech would be pointless then."

,,

There was no reply as the whites of her eyes willed with unfathomable darkness, her eyes now an eerie glowing yellow on black, as She sent forth a blast of super-concentrated gravity towards Demon, while minding Jade below her, moving up higher after firing off her blast.

,,

Grav will attack Demon with a blast attack, then use move by action to fly upwards, and to an easier vantage point to watch both Demon and Jade Fire. Dark is now fully in control.

Rebekka's desires spiked higher, watching Demon's forked tongue and imagining it teasing the stiff points tenting her shirt. Her heart raced, and it had nothing to do with the sense of imminent danger - or rather, the danger just exacerbated her need.

,,

The lissome beauty fell to her knees, her gaze riveted on the yellow eyes of the demonic figure, displaying her shapely form just so. She waved behind her, urging the humans around her to back away from the brewing conflict, but her attention was all on Demon.

,,

"Great Kami, spare the rest of us mere mortals," Rebekka pleaded with husky yearning. Though her words addressed all of the airborn beings, her intent was all for the maleficent Demon. "Spare them and take me in their stead. I will go with you willingly and do anything you desire..."

,,

Rebekka could claim it was all a ploy, to distract the Demon and give Grav and Idris a chance to strike, but the truth was, she wanted to be ravished by the demonic mutant. Lately, her romantic encounters had been too tame for her tastes. She knew Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno in their entirety and a large number of texts on demonology and a huge collection of erotica besides - in large part, thanks to, among others, a Cardinal with esoteric and erotic interests.

,,

Her fantasies would bedevil most true demons...

,,
Complication

At the moment, Rebekka is more or less succumbing to her Addition to Sex and Pleasure from Pain complications.
