If you're playing a space combat miniatures game, you need a surface to track your movement. This PDF presents a printable map, with a background generated from satellite imagery. Printing and assembling all 42 pages creates a contiguous map large enough to cover a table of up to 72" x 48". If your play space is a little bit smaller, it's easy to just print and assemble a smaller version.

The file also uses Adobe Acrobat layers so that it may be printed with 1" hexes, 1.5" hexes, or 2" squares, making it useful for a variety of scales and rule systems. Landscape: The Vermian Maze is a tool containing two versions of a detailed map: one of them pre-marked, the other blank.

The first version is marked with six locations (crossing, closures, artery, fractures, cavern and haunt), each given a table of six possible encounters or discoveries. It is also marked with six access points and the page has six possible rumour seeds.

The second version has no lettering or numbering, to make it easier for you to adapt it to the circumstances in your world.

Each map can be used as it is, possibly in conjunction with 1:285 (6mm) scale miniatures, or redrawn as required in play.

The tool is compatible with various genres and systems and suitable for use in roleplaying and beyond. It can be used as all or part of an adventure site, or the basis for one, as well as to inspire events at the site, even at the table in the course of games.

The three pages are arranged for ease of use on screen or printed, each version occupying a single page. The tool includes:

  • two versions of a detailed map - one of them pre-marked, the other blank
  • six marked locations - crossing, closures, artery, fractures, cavern and haunt
  • six tables, one per marked location, each with six encounters or discoveries
  • six possible rumour seeds relating to the map, for expansion or inspiration

The tool can be used with Narrative: Abandoned Space, the map elements acting as a setting or structure for development. It can also be used in representing the kind of subterranean space suggested in World: Shale or a section of the tunnels running through the weird mountainous shore of Screeside, as featured in Abandoned Space and Events: Screeside - The Gloaming.

    The Serpent Amphora is an adventure for characters of approximately 6 to 8 total levels. It is set within the Scarred Lands campaign setting in the small riverside village of Trela, on the border of New Venir and the Blood Steppes, during the Carnival of Flowers, the second Wildday of Tanot. It is suggested that the characters include a divine spellcaster, someone with the Heal skill and several decent fighters. 

    This adventure is the beginning of the Serpent Amphora Cycle. It is followed by Serpent in the Fold, an adventure for characters of 3rd-4th level.

    This is the next installment of our Adventure Path Iconics line, and the seven characters herein are specifically designed for play in the Obsidian Apocalypse campaign setting and the gothic and horror-themed Adventure Path. Each character has a full stat block, including campaign traits, a detailed background and personality, and advice on advancement through 4th level. Find one that suits you and you’re ready to play. These characters have been built using a 20-point buy, as many Pathfinder players and GMs prefer it. However, each comes with instructions on how to adjust the stats to a 15-point buy, should your GM wish to use the standard for Paizo’s adventure paths. If your group enjoys an epic fantasy feel for their characters, then adjustments up to a 25-point buy are also available. Whatever your style of play, just a few minor tweaks will have you ready to go.

    The iconic consist of seven unique races from the Obsidian Apocalypse campaign setting such as:

    • Exalted: The exalted are the direct offspring of angelic outsiders mated with the humans of Abaddon. The unique circumstances of Abaddon make this pairing a more common event than it might be in other parts of the multiverse. The angels here are thrust into closer contact with mortals than they are used to, cut off from the gods and entities that they serve and forced to make new lives for themselves.
    • Genesai: Genesai are the result of demonic outsiders mating with angelic outsiders, defying all that both sides of the eternal conflict between good and evil consider inviolate. In other worlds and planes of existence, this pairing might be all but unthinkable, but the nature of Abaddon as a “planar trap” throws these opposites together far more often than elsewhere. Whatever the agents of good and evil have against reach other, as outsiders they at least share the same origin.
    • Harrowed: The harrowed are one of the most despised and feared races of Abaddon. They are no less than the result of the unholy and abominable union between mortal humanoids and the foul undead. To the subjugated populace, the very existence of the harrowed is a constant reminder of their undead overlords who have taken over Abaddon. These creatures are royal bastards, neither fully mortal nor fully undead, caught between the two worlds.
    • Infernals: Infernals are the offspring of demonic outsiders and humanity upon Abaddon or the result of a tainted bloodline throwing up a child bearing the mark of past transgressions of natural law. Infernals are relatively common on Abaddon, given the nature of the world as a “planar trap” and the natural proclivities of the demons who find themselves here, as they are trapped, frustrated, and have only a few playthings to assuage their boredom.
    • Khymer: The khymer are descendants of those killed, or at least physically destroyed, by the meteor that struck Abaddon. The necromantic radiation emanating from the blast had many long-lasting effects on Abaddon and its people. For the inhabitants of one city, though, it meant liquefaction followed by mingling with the ravening light. This process infused the liquid remains with negative energy, which coupled with the latent remnants of that people’s native psionic abilities.
    • Lykian: Abaddon’s werewolf lycanthropes, most commonly called lykians, are one of the most unusual residents of the world. Unlike standard lycanthropes, lykians are born as lycanthropes. They do not suffer from the lycanthropic disease; instead, they are considered a separate humanoid race with the shapechanger subtype. Before the apocalypse, many carried the curse of lycanthropy, but due to unknown, powerful forces of magic, the curse took on a new form from which the lykians have evolved directly. Lykians, unlike lycanthropes, have only one physical form, despite their shapechanger subtype. They are considered by many to be extremely bestial, hostile, and brutish, like their canine lineage. Their primal nature often usurps and controls their cognitive and reasoning abilities.
    • Osirian: According to ancient lore, the osirians were the first intelligent species to emerge on Abaddon, chosen by the gods to be their first creation on this world. They were, and are, a regal and proficient people famed for their skill with their hands and their swiftness, as dangerous archers and fencers and makers of technical wonders and fine crafts.

    These iconic consist of:

    • Ilita Faara, Female khymer psychic warrior
    • Mik’quol an-str-natk, Male osirian cleric (Zebediah)
    • Mouse, Female genesai rogue
    • Setiphet Sir Lykash, Female harrowed fighter

    This HackMaster adventure is intended for four to six 1st level characters. It was conceived as the initial adventure in an urban campaign centered in Bet Kalamar, the capital of the Kingdom of Kalamar. It can easily be repositioned into any urban area and serve as the first taste of danger for novice adventurers.

    I wanted to provide a variety of challenges both in opponents and other obstacles that novice explorers will have to overcome. While the enemies to be encountered are significantly weaker than the norm, their lack of armor and proper weaponry is in keeping with the scenario and renders them far more manageable for a novice group of adventurers.

    Ironically, this dungeon may prove quite deadly though it was not intended as such. The root cause of nearly all deaths is easily avoidable. Unfortunately, in their mad rush to buff up all their combat bonuses, PCs often neglect to prepare themselves for routine hazards that they may face when exploring. Do not succumb to the urge to “go soft” on players that have made this error. They must learn that HackMaster is more than pure combat prowess.

    This adventure was designed as an instructional tutorial to introduce players unfamiliar with HackMaster to the game. We frequently use this scenario at gaming conventions (in conjunction with a 1:60 scale model of the dungeon) to teach people to play the game.

    This scenario should be able to be completed in a 4 hour block of time using the pregenerated characters provided. It works best with 4 or more players (a smaller group may be hard pressed to defeat all the monsters) but we’ve found that everyone who’s played this adventure has enjoyed the experience.

    3. Cathedral at Dawn (TIME: 10:00): This holy place is quiet and serene. An ambient texture fills the background but not without the interruption of chanting monks, a singing boy’s choir, and a female cantor who sings the melodies of angels whilst you meditate in solitude on your humble visit.
    4. Mage Tower (TIME: 10:00): In this cold, tall tower, stretching high above the clouds, many casters take their station in order to better themselves at their craft.     Ambient Environments: Soundtracks for RPG Settings brings you our first installment from the Fantasy Collection, Vol. 3, "The Traveller's" soundtrack, Part 2. This soundtrack was created to bring life to any dungeon setting. While some tracks provide generic drones and ambiance, others have specific purposes in mind. Each can be mixed and matched to provide variety when playing them during an RPG, War Game, LARP session or for any other situation you can find (if you use them for a dinner party, we want to hear about it).

In this particular instance, you’ll hear Elysia Wilden sing the first tune in Gaelic followed shortly by another songstress, Amellyr L’Asyllynne, who sings her tune in the tongue of the wood elves. What a treat!
    2. The Pirates Cove (TIME: 10:00): The pirates here are rowdy, but I guess that’s why they are pirates. Sit by the side of this seafaring bunch during your stay at this pirates den and listen to the tunes of a local favored musician while he plays on his accordion. Arr, but he takes that damned thing everywhere! Soon, he’s joined by his compatriots by fiddle, flute, and sometimes in voice—if you listen closely. You can smell the sea air and the B.O. in this one—you won’t forget it nor regret it.
    3. Sailing the Open Sea (TIME: 10:00): Set your sails high and join the crew of this sea faring vessel. Though your mates might be decent company, they’ll be bested by the accompaniment of this track: seagulls, and the sea air whistling through your lofty locks. 
    4. At the Market Square (TIME: 10:00): There are many people here in the market today: bartering, wheeling, and dealing their way to a better/poorer life. Everything here is for sale. But this experience wouldn’t be complete without the music of local jongleurs and bards as they compete for attention with their varied tunes in the background.

    The Australian bushfires have devastated entire communities, including some close to us. And it is not over yet. As the apocalyptic weather continues, so too do the fires, the loss… and the bravery and tenacity of our rural fire services. To them goes our heartfelt thanks. 

    When disasters on such a massive scale happen, we often feel powerless to help. I’m not a fire fighter. I’m not a rescue worker. What can I really do? Well, I write games. They take a lot of time and love and effort. So that is what I am donating.     The year is 2644. Humanity has cast off religion and mi­grated to the stars. With science as the new savior, man­kind believed himself to be creating new Edens in the far flung heavens.

    Product History

    The Ravenloft campaign expansion A Guide to Transylvania (1996), a Masque of the Red Death accessory by Nicky Rea, is one of the most flexible and accessible horror game supplements you'll ever see from TSR. It's useful for any game that deals with 1890s real-world horror or with vampires (most of which aren't published by Wizards of the Coast nowadays). This book gives a wonderful breakdown of everything needed to explore the haunted mountains of the country that is home to Dracula. 

    Most of this 96-page book is system agnostic and can be used with whatever game you like.

    Overall? This is a little-known supplement, written for a Ravenloft campaign set in the real world. If you are interested in horror games, from Night's Black Agents to Vampire: the Masquerade, and including also regular D&D horror, you'll find this a well-written and useful reference. 

    The History of Fear. Much of this supplement focuses on the historical and cultural framework of Transylvania, giving the DM everything she needs to convincingly and effectively set a horror game there. This sort of approach works wonderfully; it means that a DM can build a history of cabals, secrets, conspiracies and grudges when setting up her campaign. History starts with the Dacians in 1000 BCE, and continues, engagingly, up to the 1890s. Vlad Tepes' Turkish campaigns in the mid-15th century are covered in detail, and a “Forbidden Lore” section tells the in-game secrets that accompany true history.

    Want to know about the land instead of the people? Chapter 2 lays out geography, cities, climate, transportation, and a number of historic sites. These are presented in a way to make them as accessible as possible for a game. The Forbidden Lore text gives plot hooks and occult secrets.

    Following geography, the people of Transylvania are detailed. Romanians, Gypsies, Jews, Magyars, Szeklers, Germans... Knowing the people means knowing the customs, and the DM is given vampire lore and legends aplenty. Superstitions matter in a horror game, and A Guide to Transylvania doesn't skimp.

    Engaging Personalities. Even the most rules-heavy section of the book, the sixteen personalities and NPCs the book provides are easily pillaged by a creative GM for use in other horror games. The important material here is the background, personalities, and roleplaying notes for each NPC. The sections on Forbidden Lore give secrets and plot hooks, tying each individual into a web of mysteries, adventures, or plots.

    NPCs include the aged apothecary with an unnatural book; a cultured and sophisticated woman who may secretly be involved with a cabal against evil; a faithful librarian and monk who has seen far too much; a former embalmer turned megalomaniacal zombie lord; a wandering werewolf; and the most evil architect you could imagine. Classic characters such as Jonathan Harker and Vlad Tepes, Dracula himself, are also included. Oh, and so are Dracula's son Mihnea, along with Abraham Van Helsing.

    Mystic societies and cabals are also listed, both evil secret societies and the hunted, desperate organizations that oppose them. There are five of these, and several are perfectly suited for inclusion into any secretive or investigative D&D game.  

    About the Creators. It's no surprise that Nicky Rea has written for White Wolf as well as Wizards of the Coast, with a tremendous amount of work in the late 90s on over 20 game supplements. She specializes in horror and designing worlds for things that go bump in the night, making her a perfect fit for Ravenloft – or vice versa.
