Hellfrost Land of Fire Realm Guide #0: The Bedu

Hellfrost Land of Fire Realm Guide #0: The BeduPublisher: Triple Ace Games

The divisions of the great desert into distinct regions are the invention of modern cartographers. To the nomads that live in the wilderness, borders are meaningless, for the landscape ebbs and flows with the wind, and no one rules here. Similarly, while it is not uncommon for scholars and sages to define Bedu tribes by their homeland, they are as varied as the dunes, sharing only their love of the endless sands. Rather than detailing a geographic locale, this supplement explores the Bedu cultures. Also included is a random tribe generator, giving each tribe the heroes encounter a unique feel.

Toys for the Sandbox 93: The Unmarked Grave

Toys for the Sandbox 93: The Unmarked GravePublisher: Occult Moon

She’s a ghost, but she still looks for her lost love. If the Dark Lady sees you, she’ll make you help, maybe even send you to search the other side for her. So be warned, if you see the Dark Lady, it’s curtains for you. She’s even got her own cemetery. But, you’re brave, you say? You can handle this? Then help Jainis, an out-of-his-depth ghost buster and free the Dark Lady from her own murderous grief. There’s a Bu’Idu Ikul you can probably use. Vivian’s seen the Dark Lady and her clock is ticking. Maybe you can even save her with that ghost-eating blade. And, watch your own back - October is bringing out storms of ghosts. Even if you get this job done right, you just might have to banish a few resurrected foes of your own that got revived in the process.

Toys for the Sandbox is not a module, it is not a campaign setting, instead it is a framework for GMs to use to reinforce their own imaginations. Sometimes players zig when you expect them to zag, other times they take your plot point into a back alley and leave it penniless and bleeding. Each week we present a new location with a map and some flavor text. In addition we add 4 NPCs with a bit of history and a few simple thoughts on how to stat them for whatever game you are playing. There are also 6 plot hooks each with 3 ways to twist them. Added to that there is usually a table or two filled with rumors and encounters.

Great for use with Legends of Anglerre, Strands of Fate, Dungeon World, Risus: The Anything RPG, FUDGE, Harnworld, and easily adaptable to Dungeons, and Dragons, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Pathfinder, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, The One Ring, HERO, GURPS, BRP, Barebones Fantasy and many others.

Carnival (2e)

Carnival (2e)Publisher: Wizards of the Coast

Freak show or sanctuary?

It's all a matter of perspective when you're at Carnival.

A carnival offers a glimpse of abnormal and unnatural things most genteel folk never talk about, much less see. This carnival is not a simple sideshow, though, and its performers are far more than freaks on display. Carnival is a wandering haven for those who have no place else to go - including adventurers who made enemies of the wrong people. Under the protection of its mysterious mistress Isolde, it offers refuge to those rejected by the world. Outcasts and lost souls of all kinds can find solace here, and sometimes even a second chance at life... but nothing at Carnival comes without a price.

This accessory draws back the curtain on dark secrets that will enrich any AD&D campaign with a touch of the bizarre and horrific. Included are over a dozen richly detailed NPCs, details on "the price" that Carnival exacts from those who travel with it, and story seeds to lure unsuspecting heroes into a web of mystery and trickery.

I7 Baltron's Beacon (1e)

I7 Baltron's Beacon (1e)Publisher: Wizards of the Coast

A strangely delivered advertisement has led you to a sage named Demetrios. He needs a rare component to complete a desperately needed potion. The journey to retrieve it will take you through a large, unexplored swamp to a ruined keep, the former headquarters of a vile cult that once claimed the lives of many innocent youths.

To solve the mysteries of "Baltron's Beacon," the characters must excel in handling wilderness, building ruins, traps, puzzles, and new monsters. This adventure, originally designed for tournament use, is now available for your own campaign.

An adventure for 5-10 characters of levels 4th-8th.

*****

Product History

I7: "Baltron's Beacon" is the seventh module in the Intermediate series of adventures. It was released in November 1985.

Cover. You could swear that is Tika Waylan on the cover, with the curly red hair and the warrior's outfit. Cover artist Larry Elmore did also draw many iconic pictures of the Dragonlance characters - including Tika - so who (besides he) is to say?

A Classic Dungeon Crawl. Though published in the mid-80s, "Baltron's Beacon" offers up a fairly standard dungeon crawl of the sort that could have been published almost a decade earlier. There's a limited backstory for how some of the inhabitants came to reside in the Beacon, but there's not much attempt beyond that to create an ecology for the dungeon.

Though the Beacon is set in a swampland, that wilderness is detailed with less than a page of random encounters. Instead, the adventure consists almost entirely of dungeon-crawling, including adventures through a gatehouse, a keep, and a couple of levels of actual dungeon. Traps and monsters abound, as you'd expect in a classic dungeon adventure!

Unusual Accessories. "Baltron's Beacon" includes a few player accessories that were more common in the C-series ("Competition") and S-series ("Special") adventures than in standard TSR releases, including pregenerated characters; a player map; and a few pictures meant to be shown to players.

Expanding Greyhawk. When originally published, "Baltron's Beacon" was meant to be used "in any campaign or world setting." However, in the early 2000s, Gary Holian absorbed a couple of these "orphaned" TSR adventures into the Living Greyhawk campaign. Thus, both I2: "Tomb of the Lizard King" (1982) and I7: "Baltron's Beacon" are now a canonical part of Greyhawk's Keoland, as verified by references in "The Kingdom of Keoland" from Living Greyhawk Journal #1 (2000).

"Places of Mystery: Gateways to Adventure," published in Dragon #304 (February 2002), also by Gary Holian, verifies the placement of "The Hool Beacon" in Greyhawk and provides more background, much of it drawn from "Baltron's Beacon."

About the Creators. Philip Meyers was the original author of I4: "Oasis of the White Palm" (1983), which Tracy Hickman revised to be part of the Desert of Desolation trilogy. This was his one other major TSR publication.

Will you be kingmaker, tyrant, thief, scholar, or slayer?

    GAME SYSTEM INFORMATION

Atlantis: The Second Age is a rich setting that uses the Omega System but can easily be adapted to most popular fantasy role-playing games. In this game, players and gamemasters will find everything they need to run a campaign in the legendary antediluvian age, including the magic of Atlantis, an atlas of Antediluvian Earth, regional guidebooks, a compendium of creatures, unique playable races, and pantheons.

What is the Omega System? The game uses a straightforward rule set that utilizes a single D20 roll to resolve actions. The following section explains how to apply the rules to combat and non-combat situations.

THE RESULTS TABLE All actions in the game are resolved by the following procedure: 1. Determine the Degree of Difficulty (DoD). The DoD represents the relative ease or difficulty of an action. A positive DoD represents an easy action while a negative DoD represents a difficult action. 2. Add the character’s Skill or Attribute Rating to the DoD. 3. Take the result (a positive number, a negative number, or zero) and add it to a D20 roll. 4. Consult the Results Table for the result.

That’s all you really need to know. All the rules in this book are just variations of the above procedure. Players contribute by describing the Intent of their characters’ actions to the GM. Then it is the GM’s job to interpret the outcome of the Results Table and how it affects the particular scene the player characters are involved in. Guidelines and tips for interpreting these rolls are covered later.

    CORPS v3.0 [augmented pdf]

    CORPS v3.0 [augmented pdf]Publisher: BTRC

What if there were secret forces influencing our lives? Aliens operating behind the scenes, genetic supermen manipulating our politics, ancient secret societies seeking alliances with forces beyond time and space, mad scientists bending the fabric of reality. What if everyone believed that some of these were true, but no one could prove any of it?

CORPS is a world very much like our own, but where all the conspiracies are real...somewhere. Adventurers have the dubious gift of being part of the realities that merely influence everyone else. They know the Apollo Program was a hoax...somewhere. The question is, why is it influencing people here, and how does it relate to the Lizard People?

Realities are converging. Someone or something is making it happen or trying to take advantage of it to their reach their goals. And the survival of humanity is not necessarily one of those goals...

CORPS for EABA v2 is a reboot of the original conspiracy RPG, combining all the elements of the conspiracy genre into a single long-term plot the adventurers unwittingly become key players in, with nothing less than the survival of humanity in the balance. It is for fans of things like Warehouse 13, Special Unit 2, Sliders, Fringe, Planetary, Chronicles of Amber, the Illuminatus! trilogy or any other comic, movie, TV show or book based on a modern world, conspiracies and hidden realities. It is all of the above, yet none of the above, and the gamemaster gets to choose which of the major plots are real and which are merely red herrings to divert the adventurers from the sinister truth, making each campaign unique. This is an "advanced" gameworld. It may start off simple and innocuous, but juggling conspiracies and realities is not for the novice gamemaster.

CORPS includes the same augmented pdf features as EABA v2, including interactive character sheets, in-pdf dice roller, pop-up navigation and full hyperlinking. CORPS includes augmented and "flat" versions of the rules (187 pages) and the Ridgefield introductory setting (15 pages).

You can get a flat sample chapter of CORPS right here, or buy it from the link below. The sample setting and individual reference sheets can also be downloaded from the EABA free stuff page.

    TimeZero Archetypes

    TimeZero ArchetypesPublisher: GRAmel

In this preview, you will find some ready-to-play characters, useful when you need to quickly create heroes or for convention games. With some finishing touches, and

rolling 1d20 respectively for Background and Origin you can create very different characters!

Note that while your character’s Background and Archetype may have the same name, the Background is what he did before being recruited into TimeGuard, and

the Archetype is what he does now – your Explorer PC may have been a Modern Era Explorer before he enlisted, but he could just as easily have been a Prehistoric

    Hunter.

The archetypes below are for human characters; to make them Synths, remove one Edge and apply the Synth racial abilities.

More about TimeGuard and TimeZero - coming soon from GRAmel :)

    Steel Fort

    Steel FortPublisher: DramaScape

    Steel Fort

    DramaScape SciFi Volume 27

This product is a full-color, 62 inch by 30 inch, floor plan of a SciFi Fort, with Hex, Square and No overlay.

The PDF includes includes the VTT (Virtual Table Top Images for online play).

“We want to steal the brand new VTOL prototype helicopter at the Steel Fort before its first flight test tomorrow. The plan is to knock out their air support and air defenses, and then rappel into The Steel Fort through the roof. From there we will commandeer the VTOL from any marines present, and have our pilot fly us out of there with the prototype craft. You in?”

Steel Fort is a single map of a well-defended helicopter base. Four 180-degree flak cannons in each of the four corners cover both the ground and immediate airspace. There are six vertical take-off and landing pads (VTOL), allowing additional air support, one of which is currently occupied by a futuristic VTOL helicopter. An armored personnel carrier (APC) hovercraft stands ready for use as additional ground support. Stairs leading down into the Steel Fort underground levels. Some suggestions for maps of this lower level are DramaScape's SciFi Marine Quarters or the lowest level of our The Bunker map. The underground living areas would house the Steel Fort's staff and troops.

The Steel Fort is intended for use in near and far future science fiction games. It can also be used as a high tech military base in a modern game.

The Steel Fort works well as the location of an assault or defense scenario on a Mega-Corp or military complex. A covert black-ops mission involving the player characters sneaking into the Steel Fort and carrying out some undetected sabotage, espionage, or assassination is another option. The Steel Fort also makes an excellent headquarters (HQ) for a mercenary or military player character group in a science fiction game, with the helicopter and APC used to transport them to various engagements.

An adventure hook for use with this product:

Grand Theft Heli/APC: The player characters are contacted by a paramilitary group that wants their help in stealing the new VTOL helicopter prototype and/or the prototype APC hovercraft from the Steel Fort. The group offers to aid in the mission by providing air and ground support. They explain that the Steel Fort has four flak guns and at least four operational helicopters that need to be taken out in order to approach the base. In addition, the Steel Fort is guarded by a contingent of marines which must also be dealt with. Once a strike plan has been agreed upon, an aerial and ground skirmish takes place where the player characters either conduct the assault while their employers steal the craft(s), or vice versa.

Complications: The targeted prototype craft turns out not to work properly, or it needs to be refueled. The attackers might be forced to try and escape using the other craft present.
