The Staff

Mr. Ogman (Awg-man) – Mr. Ogman is the Camp Director. A man who appears to be in his late sixties, he is six feet tall with broad shoulders defined features and a powerful bearing. Age doesn’t seem to have slowed him down at all and his voice always seems to carry a tone of authority. His hair is white as snow and he sports an immaculately groomed beard and mustache.

Mr. O, as people at the camp call him, is a very strict man whose authority is absolute. He’s by no means a tyrant, but he does not tolerate irresponsibility, carelessness, or recklessness. His punishments are usually harsh and range from running the shoreline of the lake every morning for a week to handing him a comprehensive book report (no less than twenty-five pages, double-spaced with an index of cited sources) on a specific title of classical literature.

No one knows how long Mr. O has been training Scions, but he arrived at the camp shortly after its construction. He is wise, quietly compassionate and, above all, fearful. He’s seen far too many Scions die over the years and it seems he carries every loss as a personal failure of his teachings.

Cas and Paul – The head counselors for the Dodekatheon. Cas and Paul are twin brothers, or so they claim, considering they don’t look anything alike. Cas is thin with reddish blonde hair while Paul is somewhat more heavy-set although, despite their features, both are incredibly athletic (if you can get them to move). The brothers make slackers look like over achievers. These two gentleman are activities directors and they coordinate events like bonfires, capture the flag events, monster hunts and so on.

Fact is, Cas and Paul rarely leave the couch unless Mr. Ogman is on their ass to do something. They delegate most of their duties to other campers and chill at their cabin all day eating snacks and playing video games. They’re huge Black Ops fans with incredibly impressive KDRs (Kill/Death Ratios). Most find Cas and Paul to be the coolest counselors at camp. They are personable, friendly and they’re always down for a good time. Cas and Paul often overlook things other counselors wouldn’t (like sneaking out of the cabins late at night).

Niles Menees – Mr. Menees is the head counselor for the Pesedjet. He is a toned and well-muscled man who keeps his head shaved bald. His only facial hair is a beard that he keeps braided thick to resemble an Egyptian postiche. He appears to be in his late thirties or early forties. He commonly dresses in sleeveless tunics in ancient Egyptian styles and is fond of gold, usually sporting a bracer, armband or a medallion of some sort. He speaks matter of factly, as though he’s never going to be wrong. He’s an exceptional snob and is sarcastic and condescending to anyone he considers a subordinate.

Mr. Menees teaches history, literature and equestrianism. He’s not a fan of pegasai, but no one knows why. Despite his aloof nature he’s generally fairly cordial. He expects nothing but the best from his students, however, and doesn’t tolerate slackers (Cas and Paul annoy the hell out of him).

Papa Gris – Papa Gris is the head counselor for the Loa. Papa Gris is wise. He’s also ancient, but unlike Mr. O, he shows it. He doesn’t do a whole lot but sit around, play his harmonica, smoke and fish. He speaks slowly, when he talks at all, and getting a straight answer out of him is nearly impossible. No one reports to him for any lessons, but someone learns something from him almost daily.

Despite not doing much, he’s always where he’s needed the most, showing up in a doorway or down a trail just meandering along, leaning on his cane. He never tells anyone anything they didn’t already know but he often tells them in a way they hadn’t considered and that wisdom often provides clarity.

He is one of the few people Mr. Ogman respects.

Goro Masamune – Goro Masamune is the head counselor for the Amatsukami. Yes, the actual Goro Masamune of legend works at the camp and trains Scions for their coming battles with the Titans and their spawn. He is a slim, wiry Japanese man whose looks are deceiving. He is quite powerfully built for a man in his fifties and seems to possess a boundless store of energy.

Always in a good mood, Mr. Masamune teaches arts and crafting skills as well as philosophy. It is required that all of his students attempt to create something, be it a weapon, a poem, a book, anything as long as they and they alone create it.

Although a legendary swordsmith, Masamune doesn’t forge weapons in the camp’s blacksmithing forges. No one knows why, but some believe that any weapon he makes is so powerful that the Gods of the Amatsukami come and take them, fearing the power they bring to the world (and the potential disruption of their own balance of power).

Thrud – Thrud is the head counselor for the Aesir. Daughter of Thor and Sif, Thrud is the only confirmed god to actually be working at the camp full time. Tall and beautiful, she appears as a young woman in her twenties with a pack of hormonally challenged teenage boys in tow. Her strawberry blonde hair is long and usually pulled back into a ponytail. She’s loud, violent, and always full of energy.

Thrud is the camp’s arms master (mistress) and is charged with making sure the campers know how to defend themselves. Although she’s not killed anyone accidentally in a long while, she is brutal. She never pulls her blows and no one escapes her tutelage without cuts, bruises and sometimes broken bones. She has no qualms about sending her students to the infirmary because damnit, no one is going to pull their punches out there in the World. If you get hit and it hurts, then die or learn to protect yourself better. Either way, quit bitching, it’ll heal.

She loves hitting people with her bat, Underbarn (but only when she’s teaching). She also teaches marksmanship, using everything from bows to shotguns.

Orlanda Elliot – Orlanda is the head counselor for the Atzlanti. Orlanda is an attractive woman in her late twenties with long black hair, striking looks and gorgeous, but sad eyes. Her forearms show a few scars where she’s drawn blood in the name of her father, Xipe Toltec.

Orlanda is the camp’s schoolteacher. It’s her responsibility to make sure all the campers who are there year-round receive a basic, high school education. She’s very matronly and a lot of the younger campers generally find her to be the closest thing to a motherly figure the camp has to offer, despite her youth. She is often found, when not tending to her classes, wandering the camp with several of the younger campers in tow.
