It was unlike anything he'd ever seen, and there really wasn't time to wait. Conscious that he needed to disarm it now, and the consequences of failure, he set to work. Just a minute under the detonation time, he finished killing the countdown, and safely disconnecting the device. A shielded box had been prepared, and in moments he had it held carefully and completely within, until it could be brought to a shielded facility. He sat there on the helipad, waiting for someone to arrive to take it away.

Many were gathered around him, and even so his massive hand didn't leave the box, to insure it didn't vanish. "Hideyoshi here, the device is disarmed, mission accomplished."

A white with red trim helicopter arrives and four men wearing what looked like white environment suits walked up and nodded to Ryu. Their clear face plates let him see their faces, they definately had a look of amazement. "Thank you, Captain Hideyoshi, we'll take things from here." Director Nakamura was with them wearing a similar suit but her mask hung from her neck and the hood was down. She nodded in appreciation to Ryu. "I'm suprised you didn't enlist into the bomb squad in your law enforcement days. Thanks for preserving the device. Naomi and Naoko have already started their meeting with Admiral Koyuki Hirata. The raid will be happening soon, and I already notified Noraneko of the situation."

"Naomi herself will be back here in 30 minutes, and she asked me to tell you she looks forward to seeing you."

She smiled, more as a look of relief as the techs brought the EMP device aboard the helicopter.

Once the D0 helicopter left the workers that had milled about Ryu were relieved that he had removed what they thought was some sort of chemical weapon. The head director of the medical facility stepped forward.

"Thank you, Ryu. I am Doctor Hitomi Miyako, Head director of the Department 0 Metahuman Medical and Emergency Support division. You prevented a major tragedy from happening. We at the facility and the surrounding area are in your debt."

She bowed, deeply. Her colleagues followed suit. "I hope that Miss Minami is alright."

Ryu nodded. "The work you all do here, and will continue to do is necessary. I only did my duty, to protect and serve the people of Japan."

He smiled. "She will be fine. I trust there were no issues within, no backups?"

= The Next Day =

Naomi and Ryu sat at their apartment, watching the news. Seeing Mr. Sagara being escorted out of his office building in handcuffs by armed JMSDF and Tokyo Police officers was quite a sight. Naomi couldn't help but think on how this was going to complicate things for her and Ryu.

"So... once again the greater good is served... Tokyo is safe, there is a new member of Department 0 and we can enjoy a quiet day ahead, Ryu. Noraneko is at headquarters, probably doing training or something. I've pretty much accepted the fact that she has her life."

She nodded as she leaned leaned against Ryu on the couch. "All that we go through only makes these days more worthwhile... doesn't it?"

He smiled. "Yes indeed." He reached out and put an arm around her. Because Naoko would be at the med center that night they were alone, and he smiled it would be a nice relaxing night before they gained another room mate. "To a new day." He raised his glace and clinked it against hers.
