z-Cat's Paw
Hmm, nice place you guys have here. Thought I'd drop in and say hello. I figured it was only polite to do so since I am using your private message service to look for employees.Anyway, I'm Cat's Paw - some of you may remember me from my wild youth in Seattle when I did the embarrassing masked vigilante bit for a while. And it's nice to meet all of you. I hope to get to know all of you better.
Dorothy Roberts
Hi! I guess I should introduce myself too, since this is my first time posting, even if my dad's been on here for ages.I'm Dorothy, my dad's the Alchemist. (I gave him that name, isn't it cool?) I just errupted, and moved to Chicago to live with my dad. Nice to meet you! So, can you like teleport or anything? All I can do is turn into a werewolf. Wakinyan
I look forward to speaking to you in the future Cat's Paw. Welcome to the community.,,Quote:Originally posted by Dorothy Roberts: All I can do is turn into a werewolf. Werewolf eh? Are you influenced by the moon? Can you only be injured with Silver? Welcome to Novahood, I am sure your father is very proud.I don't feel any more inclined to howl at the moon than I did before I errupted (not saying I never did it, but I'm pretty sure I was just being silly). And I have no idea about the silver. But I don't really look a lot like the werewolf out of the movies. My werewolf form has bug eyes and backwards legs and scales on its arms, none of which are common werewolf features in any of the books I've read. But whenever I change, 'werewolf' is usually the first thing people think of, so that's how I describe it.I bet being a griffon is cool too! Or do you think of yourself more as a thunderbird now?

It has it's good and bad moments. Thunderbird or Griffin either or works for me. I'll be stopping by Chicago sometime soon to work with your dad on something, I can take you for a flight if you like (Flying is always fun). Unless of course your father locks you up when I am in town which I would totally understand as well.

I've heard stories about women taking flights with you.Dorothy, you wanna fly, call me. Or, even better, ask April Rice. I'm sure she wouldn't mind giving you a bird's eye view of the city. Or your dad could rig something for you, I'm sure - he has got the big brain. At any rate, let the Thunderbird fly solo when he's in town, ok, little silvercup? Dorothy Roberts
Oh, jeeze guys, this is Mr. Cat's Paw's thread. You should be saying hi to him. I guess I sorta stomped on it. Sorry, Mr. Cat's Paw. I'll go start my own.
z-Cat's Paw
Wow... I sparkled quite the discussion here. At any rate, thanks all for the warm welcomes. ,,Quote:I'm Dorothy, my dad's the Alchemist. (I gave him that name, isn't it cool?) I just erupted, and moved to Chicago to live with my dad. Nice to meet you! So, can you like teleport or anything? All I can do is turn into a werewolf. And while my welcome doesn't have the strength of seniority, welcome to you, too, Dorothy. I'm afraid I'm really boring, power-wise - I got the claws, speed, strength package. I've never been fond of flying or teleporting, though I do jump really well. And don't downplay your ability to shapeshift. In my wild days, I fought with my own body and it was no fun. I have some really unhappy scars from a really bad fight. When you're older, if you're interested, that form could be useful in my company. I'm not putting any pressure on you yet, but keep me in mind for the future, when you're ready for a career.
Sandcaster
Welcome to the boards, Cat's Paw. I do indeed recall your "wild youth" in Seattle, and am glad to hear that you are apparently no longer in that line of work.Welcome as well to Dorothy, though I suspect I'll be seeing you in person relatively soon. And yes: the name you coined for your father certainly fits.

I'm glad to report that age took care of some of that, and a family the rest. I'm also happy to see that the mess out East didn't cause you to hang up your "cape and cowl." The world would have been a darker place for it.

Lee Jones
Welcome to both of you. I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I have, not that I'm around much. I'm not home right now, but feel free to drop by my office. I'm usually there during school terms so you can reach me fairly easily.
Wakinyan
Cat's Paw why did you choose to be a vigilante at the time you where active in it? I am curious as to your reasoning then and what made you change your mind.

I am curious as to your reasoning then and what made you change your mind.I was Green War, on a local scale, before there was a Green War, except I found a way to do it in conjunction with the law and work within the vigilante laws that Seattle had at the time. It was my way of helping Mother Earth, of doing something besides giving money to someone else. That's why RCS' main focus is still on the environment - I'm too close to my feral, kitty-cat roots to be otherwise. However, I was pretty wild back then. The police both loved and hated working with me (funny how a lot of people felt that way about me). I once jumped over twelve lanes of traffic at something like 60 stories in the air. And that was before I got my black man's legs, if you know what I mean. Come to think of it, that was before I could survive that kind of fall, too.Man... those were the craziest days of my life.I started to think about retiring when a long-time friend who was doing the same thing retired. I had already started to slow down myself, let some of the younger, newer novas have their moment in the sun. For starters, I'd been going pretty strong for a few years at that point, and that kind of work is grueling, emotionally. You're always hiding. Blue Hawk was the only person who I didn't have to pretend with, and her retirement took away that support. And it took away a lot of the fun.By the time I realized that I was going to get married to my girl, I was emotionally done with the vigilante gig. Which is just well, Seattle closed that tiny loop they had just one year later. In a way... now that I've gotten some distance and a chance to recover... I guess I miss those days. I didn't have any college, so those were my party years. Still, family life is good and I'm happy. That answer your question, Wakinyan?

I haven't heard anything about your company, and the Op page is pretty vague (you should hire a better site designer). What does RCS do?

I usually stick to personal contacts, anyway.Rieder Consulting Services is a mercenary company specializing in environmentally conscious contracts. We've been called in on the last three major environmental disasters, working to protect and preserve the natural ecosystems while minimizing the negative impact on humans living in the area. We're small, and don't pay as well as DV or the other big boys, but our mercs don't burn out in time either or suffer the same stresses other companies see in their ranks. Our people are making money, making a real difference, without the blind idealism of PU getting in the way.I only suggested employment to you when you're older because novas that display feral traits tend to have closer relations with nature. Some do, some don't - I'm just getting word of mouth out to you. But let me know if you're interested.

Stormwarden
Greetings Cat's Paw. I have a close affinity to nature as well, but mine is more of an enviromental (as opposed to feral) and spiritual one.I wish you well in your work.
Neil Preston
I've been hearing some interesting stuff about your agency, Cat's Paw. Could I look over some of your public mission profiles. I often come across people long on good will, but short on cash and political power. I would like to have more agencies I could recommend to them. If you are interested, drop me a line? Nightfall
Nice to see other people out there doing good who are not doing the 'superhero' thing.I cannot stand idiots in spandex. And I don't care what you say, most novas wear their eufiber in tight little outfits. In my old line of work, we called them 'working clothes'. Cassandra Foster
What my husband occasionally forgets to mention is that the Good Old Days weren't all that good. Exciting, yes; good, no.Yes, I'm that Cassandra Foster...and no, I haven't been known as the Blue Hawk in a long, long time (and don't intend to start again now).Interesting community you've found here, John. z-Cat's Paw
Wow. I don't check this for a day or two and everyone shows up, including my wife. Hey, honey, I told you it was fun out here! When have I ever steered you wrong in regard to fun? And no, the thing with the seal doesn't count.Irini, Stormwarden and Slattern - all very nice to meet you. This is starting to feel like my pre-disclosure days, when women were happy to see me. They're still happy to see me, mind you, they just all know that I married Cassandra and are all afraid to piss her off. And while we're talking about pissing her off - I am very happily married, just for the record.
