Resplendent_Shine
I have got this thing to work right yet? I'm so bad at this... I've only used the Op-net a couple of times, I haven't had time before, plus I wasn't aloud to just serf about freely.Oh! Hi everyone... I'm Resplendent Shine. Yes, it's really me, the one and only. I'm not here to sell you anything, I'm not an ad-post, relax. I umm... well, I guess I have a question, and I thought you all might have some ideas for me. How do you deal with stalkers? Jager
Personally, or as a matter of advice for you?Personally, I keep my private residence private. I keep in good contact with the local law enforcement, and I'm good in a fight. What is the nature of your stalker, if you know?
Lee Jones
Hello Resplendent Shine. Here's my usual cut and paste-The door to my office is almost always open. Feel free to come by.Welcome to the boards. And about the stalkers...I don't really know. I don't go into public much without being dormed, so I don't really have a problem with it. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
Resplendent_Shine
Jager - I don't really know for sure that I *am* being stalked. I just... I have this bad feeling. Like eyes watching me, and strange sounds. My bodyguards assure me that it's nothing, but the feeling won't go away.Lee Jones - Dorming down sounds nice... I'd like to be able to do that, just hide from the public eye for a while...
Tommy Tomorrow
Quote:Originally posted by Resplendent_Shine:How do you deal with stalkers? Jerkens when quoting Malloy (1998) defined stalking as "the willful, malicious and repeated following and harassing of another person." (2012) Harrassment that crosses into the area where the victim - you - feels reasonable fear for their safety or the safety of anyone known to them. This is criminal behavior and depending on the location you reside in will gather many willing to assist you; police, lawyers, special action groups, and district attorneys. Before you can call it stalking there has to actually be a stalker, i.e. a person operating under these motives. While I wouldn't doubt your senses or feelings on the matter - novas make it difficult to go with the easy answer - you haven't yet identified you actually have a stalker. This can be done in a number of ways but most involve sums of money or favors in order to obtain some specialized assistance. I'm personally a little wary of offering to help since my last offer to someone else was essentially forgotten about and I wasted a week in Tokyo waiting. If you do identify the stalker the first step is telling the stalker "no" in a plain and unambigious way. You do this once and only once. The stalker wants a reaction even if its a negative one so after you tell them no you should reject all contact whether its being directly approached (walk away), letters (return unopened), opmail (make a kill file) or refusing to discuss the stalker with mutual friends and acquiantances. Become scrupulous regarding personal information. Above all remember that stalking you was a choice made by another and one you had no control over. After this it becomes a little more complex and depends on the exact situation. Cade
Welcome to the boards. as to your stalker problem, Jager's right. notify the authorities. and see how they can help you. If that's not enough then perhaps hiring a nova bodyguard would be the order of the day. That or I'm sure some of the various novas here capable of dorming would likely be willing to help you. Doctor Nova Madigan
Once the local media got past the "OMG Cleveland finally has a Nova!" stage, things quieted down here. So, I'm afraid I don't know. Call the police and hire a bodyguard?
Access
If you'd like I can dive down into the mass of data that is the OpNet and see if I can dig anything up about you. Don't know how much help tht will be though.
Edison
You're the chick I've seen in those commercials aren't ya? You're pretty damn hot, I would mind meetin' with ya for a night of fun if you're up to it. Drop me a PM if ya want a night with Edison.
Resplendent_Shine
Well, it doesn't seem like there is much else I can do. I have several bodyguards already (hiring a nova one is a good idea though, I'll look into it) and until I catch the guy (or girl) in the act, I'm pretty much out of luck when it comes to the law.I still can't shake the feeling that someone is always watching me... I mean me me , not me in the ads. I've been real jumpy too, on set today I tripped and nearly took out a boom mic! Not my usual grace.and Edison... I'm flattered, really. I've just heard so many offers like that, that to stand out, you'll need to do better.
Jager
RS, if you want and added sense of security as well as some on the spot nova advice, I suggest contacting Connelly Securities Inc. You get a top notch security review and nova advice without the over-the-top (and expensive) step of hiring an elite agency. If you have a stalker, they are likely to at the least cut down on your vulnerabilities, if not spot your stalker outright. Sakurako Hino
I can do one better. My security division can look over your domecile for free, and give you an estimate. No fuss, no obligation.Heck, I think my going rates are even less than third-string elite agencies. And you won't have to room-and-board an elite in the process, which might make you MORE of a target.Think of it like this. You hire an Elite, whoever's tracking you takes that as an excuse to make an example of the Elite. Firefight ensues taking out dozens of bystanders... etc, etc, etc...Mine is more of a passive defense. That, and I am developing a line of clothing that can also serve as armor. For those discerning executives and worried stalker targets alike. Custom tailored too.
Augment
We thank you for the vote of confidence Jager, as a side note, when are you going to ask us to take a look at the Knight's building?Resplendent Shine, it would be our honor to take a look at your routine and the places you frequent, plus any vehicles you use regularly. We'll give you a full consultation as well as several different packages to choose from. We have a rather large pro-bono budget and we can assist you for free, it just depends how indepth you would like for us to dive into your life as we cover security in all aspects of it. We would also keep the consulting force down to my sister and myself in this case. Consider it just two novas helping another.Sakurako, I did now know you had moved into the security business. Both Rianna and myself look forward to some friendly rivalry from you.
Jager
Its not a vote of confidence, Augment. Your firm has earned its reputation. I'm just passing on what I consider to be good advice. As for WCK stuff, the internal stuff would fall under Alchemist's perview, but I imagine he wouldn't mind a proposal. We are planning to do some updating with Endeavor's new firm, but we have a variety of interests and needs.
Sakurako Hino
Augment, competition breeds innovation.Jager, I have some things inbound that will help with certain aspects of operations. As for Alchemist, I can cut the final cost WCK will have to pay by having some trades.I hear Alchemist has some interesting concepts.
Edward
A stalker? That sounds horrible.I'm very lucky, no one even knows who I am so it isn't like anyone would be interested.
