Sandcaster
For the love of....Is anyone else watching the news? Someone has raised a 200-foot tall statue of Wakinyan on the outskirts of Oglala, SD. Definitely nova-built; looks like ice but solid as steel. Anyone happen to know who is behind this little stunt? EDIT: And now, the WCK is starting to get calls about this. "Did Wakinyan make this, or arrange for it?" "Will the WCK take responsibility?" "Is Wakinyan available for interviews?" Great; just great. Wakinyan
I didn't do it. At the moment I am not even sure who did. From what I saw of the footage it is an excellent likeness of me though the scene it invokes makes me wonder about the message it is sending. It also gives me a few clues on the origin. The fact that it is the tallest thing for miles around means it is getting plenty of attention.
Neil Preston
There are over one hundred people who can back up that alibi, Wakinyan. Some of them officers of the Law, too. It wasn't him, folks.
Hugin
It looks lovely. Not exactly a masterpiece but passable enough. I don't recognize the style though. A new Nova? Perhaps a newly erupted member of Wakinyan's tribe? Extremely unlikely given the odds.
Preston
I have been to the site and seen who has done this to my adopted son. The the Tribal Council has been given my findings and I leave it in their hands.
Sakurako Hino
Looks like someone is causing a stir.Who among us is good at ice sculpture? I mean, I can do some pretty mean things with a lazer for carving, but solid as steel?Wow.

Wakinyan
It is growing on me. Though I am no Crazy Horse and I don't deserve a monument like he does. Not yet anyway.
Jager
Truly wonderful to behold, and I'm sure it sounded like a good idea at the time, but not created by someone with an understanding of geology, or structural engineering. The soil can't support the weight and the damn thing is going to topple over.Ideologically pretentious, too.
Sandcaster
Current reports have indicated that the thing is indeed metal, even though it has a sort of ice-like sheen (which appears to be a trick of the rather exotic alloy used). That said, there are some surface crystals that, while metal, look like they were formed as ice.As for the foundation work, there's a bit of controversy going on right now. Oglala officials are calling for demolition; meanwhile, senior Lakota tribesfolk are calling for stabilization. The fairgrounds involved are leased by the city, but owned by the tribe. All in all, it's turning into a mess.
Wakinyan
I dunno even how they are going to demo it unless another Nova gets involved. You don't just take a wrecking ball to a hundred thousand tons of alloy metal. I wish everyone would just chill out over this. (I don't give a shit about the pun) The thing isn't going to topple over and it is going to take a while to sink since the ground is frozen atm. Nor is it going to come to life and start stomping through cities.Someone drove by and took a shot at it last night according to CNN. I doubt they have a gun that could nick it but if this thing turns into a target someone could get hurt from that kind of activity.

And unless someone was playing with temporal constants, this was created in just a few hours at the most.I'm not joining in with the local geologists clamoring about the structures imminent demise. Not just yet anyway. Although the greatest evidence is in the highlands known as Coteau des Prairies, there's evidence that much of South Dekota was glaciated in the past. If you do the calculations for the surface area of the base directly in contact with the ground to determine the weight distributed per square inch then take into account the past glaciation of the area; the immediate future of the structure isn't a certainty. I should make the drive from Reno to check it out. There's a couple of op-cameras pointed that direction but that's not the same as being able to tell your kids that you touched it. Wakinyan
For now it stays. Sheriff WhiteElk has placed a fence around it. The council is still wanting to talk to me about it. I already heard there may be lawsuits filed over it. I am getting very very sick of those.

Would it be courteous? Need it be a matter of courteousy?I'm not certain but I would think the correct answer is; it depends.
Gerald Haney
Went and took a look at it.Not super impressed.I guess living with an artist has made me kind of blase about the whole artwork thing unless it's something really special. And really big doesn't mean really special. Brother Jacob
You hateful and lying demons would no doubt be thrilled were I one of your beastial number, but once again God shatters your licentious hopes as he did the walls of Jericho.Yea, the demons spawned by the Deceiver did try to tempt me with wicked and corrupt dreams of power, and did try to enter my soul. But the Blessed Redeemer, our Lord Jesus Christ, answered my fevered cries for release from their torment and did cleanse me of their corruption.I walk as proof positive of redemption -- that same redemption which you scorn, from our Lord upon Whom you turn your twisted and tainted backs.Repent, sinners!
