Vixen
So we're angling towards the end of February for the wedding. Since next year's 2016, it'd be kinda neat to get married on February the 29th.Does anyone have a venue they'd suggest? We could easily book a church, but we're open to suggestions for something a bit more exotic.

Vixen
Yeah, I know, Tommy. We're still considering the Shinto ceremony option but I'd like to hear more suggestions if anyone's got 'em.
Jordan
How big a ceremony are you planning Doctor?Depending on the size, I have a venue in mind. There is a commune on a small group of 4 "man made" islands in the pacific ocean. While 3 of the islands have a strict Novas only policy, the last island is open to both Baselines and Novas. To get here you'll have to go through Canadian customs and then take a three day boat cruise as there isn't an airfield large enough to accommodate a commercial sized jet. Also, valid passports will be necessary for your wedding party and guests. If you'd like more details please feel free to send me a private message.-Jordan Rossi

kestrel404
I wish I could suggest Chicago, but unfortunately I wouldn't even hold my OWN wedding here after all the trouble we've had in this city.Japan, however, is very receptive, and hasn't been the source or location of any disasters lately. Jordan
Oh sure, you just had to go and spoil the calm now didn't you? You do realize you've just doomed Tokyo to an attack by Nodezilla or some other iradiated monstrocity right?Of course, by her very nature, our own little pink cyber-vixen Endeavor will have to don her radiation proof sailor suit and deal with the menace (with only minor assistance from the friendly fellows of Nippontai naturally). This will obviously demand massive amounts of collateral damage and lots of people running around screaming "iiiyyyeee" and at least one eruption at just the right moment to save the day....Actually, that doesn't sound too horrible now that I've typed it all out....Carry on then. Azdak
Well, there was a minor war with China last year, which I'd tend to consider bad news.
Tommy Tomorrow
I was in Tokyo at the time. It really wasn't that bad.
Azdak
So was I. Personally, I was fairly concerned - the situation was pretty fluid for a while, and I was a little worried that I might need t skip town.Though you're right - most of it did stay in China. Tommy Tomorrow
What surprised me were how many people on the street would approach and, after the usual pleasantries, start asking me questions about what was going to happen. I'm use to standing out in a crowd because of the nova thing, at least they're polite in Japan, but I wasn't certain how to deal with that at first. After talking with a friend I decided the best thing I could do was just reassure them the situation was going to work out and they needn't fear. That seemed to do the trick. The Japanese are a very adapatable people.Back on topic; why don't you have Erikkson create a church and someone symbolically inclined create a religion then hold the ceremony. I'm not recommending this over the shinto idea but I thought I's add something to the thread.
Vixen
Jordan - they have nova-only islands now? I've been out of the loop, it seems. Getting married on an island sounds romantic and I'll discuss it with the others. Some family who we haven't seen in a long time are interested in the wedding, and there will be lots of family on Mitch's side too, so about thirty or forty guests, plus friends from here who can make the trek.Tommy - tempting offer, but I think I'll hold off on establishing my own religion and building my own temple until we've got the car paid off. Japan sounds intriguing, though - I've never actually been there.
Jordan
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear my dear. These Islands are "privately owned" and in international waters. It is very much an experimental community, not unlike the concept of the "hippie" communes of the 1960's.We should easily have the space for a ceremony of that size and if we cannot accommodate guests overnight on the island than I'm sure I could provide a suitable yacht or small cruise ship. Splitmind
Might I recommend finding a relatively stable mountaintop? Admittedly, the air might be a bit thin for the elderly family members, but on the bright side, the cake will stay fresh in the cold, you won't have to worry about rain, your wedding dress (assuming it's white) will perfectly match the decor, and the view (at least on some mountains) can be fantastic. If you can or have a friend who can warp or give your guests a lift, it's just a matter of finding the right mountain and convincing them that it's safe.Though the tropical island idea has some merit, too. I've just come to enjoy heights since scaling them became so easy.

Hah hah. Entertaining. It would seem, Mr. Rossi you have a sense of humor.Although you forget I would endeavor to keep the "nodezilla" from causing said collateral damage, and force him/her/it back to the sea.Either that, or I successfully negotiate with it, and find it was only a splinter in it's tail. I remove it, and everyone's fine, and it happily returns to the deep. With all the people of Japan taking pity on him, wishing when he returns to be a peaceful monster who'd fight those that threaten the land... or at least for the sushi. Tommy Tomorrow
As I live in Tokyo at the moment, and have back ally sources of information from the diet and local industry, I'm going to keep my mouth closed and fingers still.Tact is an important skill to cultivate. Gerald Haney
I guess I'm too late but the outskirts of Havana has some gorgeous areas and there's enough infrastructure that if you've got the money you can get whatever you need or want. Jordan
Absolutely fabulous my dear. February is fine. I particularly enjoy the irony of a leap year wedding. We can discuss the details of the arraingments in private if you like.On a personal note; I'd like to ask that my children be invited to the ceremony. They have never been to this type of event and I think it would be an excellent learning opportunity for them. Of course they're also bursting at the seams to meet the "fox lady" as they call you. I hope it won't be an inconvenience.
