Harold 'Mythic' Anderson
So I, uh... had a bit of a nasty fight tonight and I've "earned" myself some time off.Does anyone have any suggestions for vacationing on a shoestring budget? Wakinyan
Go to the tropics Mythic. You don't need a place to stay. Sleep in the sand, go fishing as a shark in the mornings. Become a parrot and sit on a pretty tourists shoulder. But if you want something more cushy just remember that where ever you go you are a Nova and be sure those around you know it. Generally that will give you a free ride, don't hesitate to exploit that fact.
Conduit
Wakinyan has a point. I was amazed at how much free stuff you can get. The trick is to go to a nice place, a place that regularly has celebrities (nova and baseline). When I was in Tokyo I was frequently offered free suites at 5 star hotels because they thought I was a somebody. And since you are a somebody it'll be especially easy for you.If you want to be alone, then go somewhere remote. There are still some really awesome places in pristine wilderness. You just need to find them.
Noir
I am actually of a quite different train of thought. I would rather people meet and get to know me, the actual person and discover that being a nova is part of that, rather than people hearing the word “Nova” and focusing on that, letting everything else fall by the wayside. Of course, I am able to do that a bit more easily than some, since it is not readily apparent to baselines that I am a nova.At any rate, that is my take on it. Perhaps I am just odd. If that is the case, then it wouldn’t be the only way.As far as where to go. I am not sure. Is there some place you have always wanted to see? Maybe do something pertaining to a hobby you enjoy. Is there someplace that makes you smile when you think of it? I could suggest various types of clubs in different cities around the world, if you are into that. In truth though, really do not know you well enough (or at all, really) to offer much advice here.~Noir
Sandcaster
The Catskills are always nice this time of year, and they aren't far from where you're at, Mythic.
Vixen
There's always Mount Everest. Even if you can't fly up there, being a nova means you won't suffer as much from oxygen deprivation as most people would. I plan to do it myself someday, so if you do that let me know how it goes. I fly up to the Rockies sometimes but it's not quite the same. There's always the ubiquitous 'road trip.' You could just hitchhike, though I'd make sure you're ready to deal with potential maniacs. And you could get inconveiniently sucked into the trials and problems of a small town, complete with Greedy Businessman, Corrupt Sheriff, and Waitress with Heart of Gold. There's also the desert - the middle of the desert, when viewed from high up, is really something. Especially at night, when the stars are out and you're hovering between the Earth and infinity. Just make sure you can grow fur because the desert at nighttime is COLD. Singularity
I'm a little partial to islands but I think a certain someone has had a small influence on me.
Madison 'Vali' West
Harold, come by my place and I can lend you my backpack and gear. Go hitch-hiking across the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. Its beautiful country.

Lemmy Chillmeister
Shoestring budget? Why the fuck for? You're an XWFer right? You've fought a few times ain't ya? Why the fuck aren't you rolling in it? Fight fees, appearence fees, image licensing fees. Fuck man, you're a motherfucking shapechanger, do you know that that means to action figure sales? T-Shirts, foam fingers and all that shit. Your entrance music. Jeezus man, I used to be in showbiz, if you're a nova you have to be a fucking moron not to have money falling out of your ass. Harold 'Mythic' Anderson
Wow, I, uh, didn't expect such a good response.Wakinyan, Conduit, and Singularity: islands do sound nice and it would be great to get something positive out of the rep from my job. It'd be a bit of a flight but something worth checking out.Noir: Yea, I think visiting with people that know me might be the, uh, best kind of time to relax. Maybe get away from the shop talk too.Sandcaster and Vixen: wow, I haven't been to the mountains in years, both of those sound like something to do.Vali and Troy: I think it's certain I'll be in Chicago for a little bit and Minnesota isn't too far away from there. I should be able to get my own gear, Vali, but I suppose I could compare notes with you.Lemmy: I... uh, I didn't really have that lucrative of a contract when I started. But after that pop last night who knows what'll happen. I probably shouldn't talk about that just yet until something happens.

Deezy Klatta
I gotta say, I'm with Noir on this one. There are times when it's fun to milk celebrity, but when the suit comes off, it's nice to mingle with people as just a -person-. Being a celebrity ALL the time would burn me out on humanity. I'd have to go make an undersea fortress or...core out a volcano...mmmm...undersea fortresses...*lapses into a Mad Science Moment*
Warren Verona
Do what I do man, go where your heart takes you. You can hear it, if you stop to listen. Then again, it did land me in a lot of trouble in the past. Second thought... use Travelocity... the heart is a fickle bitch.Bonne chance with your decision though.
Maria 'Serendipity' Fianelli
Help out orphans in Africa, speak to the kids in urban areas about the dangers of drugs or do a bit of house building in a remote village for the homeless people.Okay, now I've done the party line thing, I can tell you some very cool spots where you don't even have to get drunk to have fun.Rio de Janeiro. Fantastic beaches, plenty of great ass, big Jesus looking down on you like he was pissed with what you were doing...Then there's the joys of totally exploring some weird, exotic place like the Amazon. You haven't lived until you've tried outswimming piranhas. What can I say? I like to live.
