Boy Scout
In Project Utopia there is a reference to valamid, or "QuanTech" on page 51. I couldn't find the stats for valamid armor or weapons or anything in the Utopia book. Am I missing something, or is it in another book, or is it up to each ST to decide, or what? Asche
Well BS, it is not listed anywhere in stats in any of my books. But the definition says that is 10 times the strength and resilience of Kevlar. Simple math would say they are trying to say that Valamid armored Vests would have 10 times the soak of Kevlar or 20 Bashing/ 30 Lethal. However, I do not think the writers were wanting us to make that addition substitute. Kevlar is 2/3 so I think that perhaps a safe assumption here (in this forum) would be that Valamid armor offers perhaps 10/15 at best. You do the math. I took it literally. Brucifer
i took a slightly different route with Nova armour suits...They "acquired" Eufibre suits as part of a job they took on and asked the providers for a bit more protection - so the providers gave them armour plates...so they had level 3 eufibre and riot suit equivalent armour - 3 + 5/3 = 8/6 at only minus 1 dice pool.i know its not heavy duty but then their main hard guy has 57 personal soak - go figger
Sandy Davis
Um 57 level is a lot..then again no un heard of.. Sandy here has that much but well. She is in game close to '30 and the world is one scarey place.I think that 8/6 soak for body amor is good.I would think about making it 8/6[3] meaning that small arms fire wouldn't really have a chance of huting it..as the [3] is more than adding three to the soak. the 10/15 is odd, but that is only becuase kevlar protects more as a balistic sheild than impact. But white wolf is messed up on how they deal with borce, thinking cuting is some much deadlier than bashing..But it is onlya game, after all. Probably a square root function would work, i.e. you need to square the energy to double the damage. With this rule, 4x damage is 16x times as hard to do or takes 16x more energy. I recall a chat session over on the WW forum involving some of the writers where we worked out that a WW nuke is only about 100 dice (although I'd guess there are a lot of autosucc with that, say 50[50]). The linear excelerator in WWII is a good example.
