Eris
Hey Nodelings! I think I am gonna put together a monthly Poker game soon. Would any of you be interested in bellying up to the table? I haven't decided if we will play powers allowed or not. Maybe alternate it to keep things interesting. If you want to play let me know!
kestrel404
You know, this almost sounds like fun. Almost.Where are you going to be holding this? Just so I know where to direct the firemen, of course.
Jager
Sounds fun.
Edward
I enjoy card playing. Where and when were you thinking of playing?
Sam Grey
Well shit, I never thought someone would ask. Now I just need to clear my schedule. You just name the time and place, Eris. I'll bring the booze and the smokes.
Neil Preston
Ugh ... well, it isn't like I don't have some money to lose, but getting to meet some different novas is probably worth it.
Sakurako Hino
No go here. I'd be too tempted to count cards. Heck, with probably 99% accuracy, I could probably call what cards are in hands, and what is still in the deck, and what's still face down on the table.So... sorry.Although a high stakes game of Chess would be more fun. Dreamer
You know that counting cards doesn't really work in poker. The idea of counting cards works on the idea that you know what cards that have already been used, in poker there are always 52 cards in play. Sakurako Hino
Ah. but I have, and I can, predict outcomes with good certainty. That's why I prefer more deeper games than Poker. Chess, Miniature Strategy, War Coding... All of that stuff.
Eris
Ahh but Endeavor try playing when Alchemist uses his intellect, Amped shuffles the deck and Jager uses his.... Jagerness. See the trick is this isn't your baseline poker game.
Amped
I wonder if I could actually shuffle the deck quicker than anybody could notice...I need to get e a deck of cards and practice.
Alex Craft
Last time this got brought up, there weren't any takers ... of course, that was with an older, stodgier, and more generally philosophical membership. /c:I'm certainly in. And Endeavor, Eris is most definitely right here. That's kind of the point - you have an edge ... but so does everybody else.'Powers allowed' is even better, since you can get the greatest kinds of quantum fencing when a precog, a telepath, and a probability manipulator sit down to a nice, quasi-friendly game of poker. ; )
Edward
It does not sound like I would do well.*sigh*
Jager
Alex, part of the draw is the magic of Eris!Come on now. Our luck could be phenomenally good ... or bad, or everywhere in between. Edward, the ability to not have your mind yanked could be a really big edge. It would depend on the crowd.Amped, I will get you a deck of Titanium-alloy, diamond-edged cards to practice with. Just stop by WCK HQ in Chicago and pick them up.
kestrel404
Jager, you know I work with better materials than titanium. But I wouldn't have Amped practicing shuffling on nearly mono-edged throwing cards. It's a recipy for losing a finger, which is a pain in the ass even if he can grow them back.Just stick to regular cards until you've got it down, then we'll talk. Amped
Thanks Jager, I appreciate the though, but I do have to go with Alchemist here, I enjoy all my fingers.I have succesfully brough a deck of card to ashes now though. I can only get on good hand out of them and they disentegrate.

Probability won't mean too much in Texas Hold'Em, Five Card Draw, or any other type of poker where the value of certain cards are never constant. The only way predicting your probabilities would help is if you knew what somebody is looking for.
Ghostwriter
I can make up special cards if necessary, provided you don't mind good ol' paper or cardboard.Who'd thought that the ability to manipulate books would come in so handy?

Dreamer
Real stakes and money? those things doesn't add up to me. I am the type of person that doesn't need to ask the price of what I buy.You want real stakes you will have to come up with something worth more than money. tOoN
Let me check my purse... 2 halibuts, 1 talupea, a box of hypercore ammunition for a 60 caliber Webley MK VII, a Devries credit card, three boxes of chiclets, a mandrake root, a tract from those nice boys at the church of Micheal Archangel that helped change my tire and a gideons bible. I'll see your burnt britches with the chiclets and raise you the gideons bible. The mandrake root goes back in the purse unless somebody sweetens the pot with something s... e... r... kestrel404
So, I'm figuring this never happened, since I haven't heard about it on the 6 o'clock news. Are there still plans?
Eris
Hasn't happened yet but I still want it to. I am trying to find someplace for this to go down is all. Vegas and I are not on the best of terms at times. I However know a guy who bought one of those old Cold War missle silos up north past the AFB. He told me I could borrow it for a few days. It's been converted into a 2 million dollar home so I am sure it is a nice place. Hope it will be afterward..
kestrel404
I'm assuming there's no missile left in that silo? That might be a stretch with you, but I might be there just to make sure of that.
