I have killed the woman who killed my love all those years ago. I did not kill her to bring him back. I did not kill her because I hated her. I wish I could have stopped her without killing her, but I have failed, and she wouldn't stop unless she was dead.

To those of you who would wish to see harm comes to me, I have this to say while my actions did end in the death of a nova, I broke no law. I went to the city to talk to her, and she would not hear words. She lashed out at me, and I ended the fight. I am not so sure that I won, for I have to live with what I did. I have the burden of time.

There is a saying I go by, choosing the less of two evils is still choosing evil. I could have let her go about her actions,and we may be here now, morning over two cities. That is by no means the only outcome of her actions, but I knew she was going to cause enough damage that her target would never been relieved as her target. I killed another nova in Ibiza and maybe a few baselines. I made the choice to go into a warzone because I had friends there who needed my help. Hell, my people were killing each other and someone had to help the civilians.

Do I have guilt? Yeah. I hate that I dragged Singularity back into a conflict zone and the fact I had to kill someone who was taking pot-shots at me. I probably brain-damaged at least one more nova when I was using the Dolorous Cry. I took away their lives and I have accepted it.

I lashed out at baseline rioters who were shooting at me. I asked Charr, someone I'm not very fond of, to save my arse at one point. I drained my very life-force trying to protect my friends and get them out of that place. I even put them up in my home.

Take responsibility for your actions for a change. That's what being transhuman is all about.

Whining and self-pity are for children and baselines. I've realised this and I'm making an effort to accept the debt, both mentally and emotionally, of taking people's lives.

Accept it as a learning experience and move on.

One of the things that is so facinating to see is how something as common as "common decentcy" is so hard for certain people to grasp. I guess it is hard to comprehend if your world view is wrapped up with selfish interests and the hardcore belief that everyone else is just like them; selfish, unforgiving, and forever victims of their own, baser instincts.

Sure, there are vicious, cruel individuals out there. We hear from them enough, don't we, but for every vicious one, there are a hundred decent people who want simple lives and don't willing do harm to anyone. There are ten good people who go out of their way to help in some capacity, too.

It is easier to be beneficial in quiet, doing what needs to be done to help others without notice, or applause, I guess.

Just don't let those who can't stand the brightness you bring into so many lives drag you down. They attack what they can't really comprehend, or accept ... because it is so different from themselves. Think about how much dimmer life would be without people such as yourself, Captain, and don't give in to their hate.
