Aberrant RPG - Feeling Melancholy

After re-reading many posts online here and referencing many of your links to your own game sites and character sheets I have become somewhat depressed. frown

You see, it has recently become nearly impossible, if not completely impossible, for me to gather together with my gaming group (all 3-5 that there were) and I almost desperately miss it. I was almost ALWAYS the ST, DM, GM, or whatever else the game called for at the time. (ahh the days smile ) It was this way for over 20 years and most recently (just over a year) the Aberrant system. I have adapted, to a large degree, the world and canon of Aberrant into my own on-going campaign of 12+ years. (good things never truly die :P )

Anyhow, I ramble. It does not seem that my gaming situation will soon improve. And I was wondering if there was any possible chance in the world that a Good, on-going game could develop here, in this forum.

I am the type that, short of my system getting fragged, logs on at least 3 times a day to see what has developed. I am not a fast typer by any measure, but I am devoted.

Finally, what, if any, solution can be offered here? I am just looking for another way for my story to keep developing as I still have quite a few to tell and addon to in the grand scheme of things; I would absolutely adore having others to have a influence on the way things develop in the future. (even with your favorite characters from other Aberrant games cool ) My campaign has always been largely player driven and written, and I would unquestionably back-track my recent sessions to a point with all players starting on as close to the same page as possible. No one would be left out of the loop.

I have high hopes which will undoubtedly crush me. eek

Well...

There is always the possibility of attempting to find other pockets of Roleplayers in your community, but then, if you don't live in a large metropolitan area, this option tends to be rather NULL* if you get my drift. Also, a real rich world might scare off some people (not a common possibility, but it's always there).

We also have the PBeM boards here, although there aren't so many games happening right now, although you could always try and start a new one. (even better, if your old troupe was net-enabled, you could persuade them all to continue the game here.

If they're not comfortable with that, you could try Yahoo! Groups (start up a mailing list, and do it through e-mail).

Hope that helps,

* Sorry, programming joke. In the C programming language, the word NULL is used to "ground" memory pointers. Since NULL is not a memory location, any NULL pointers tend to be useless...

yeah, all of the gamers but one have left and cannot take part.

And as far as a rich setting, if there is such a thing: What is the difference of a setting with a played and rounded out background developed by players and the histories developed by the writers of various games that we all buy? I mean, we use their "canon" as our histories right? All I have is a very similar "canon" that we all know but it also goes farther back and has a bunch more detail.

If that is a rich world, I'm sorry all but thats what I've got. I could however, start a "parallel" world history to my canon by starting up an entirely new epic however. It Would eventually be worked into fitting into my grand scheme of things. smile

Well, hey, we do have actual boards for this stuff (go down to the bottom of the Summary screen. Yep, that's them). If you want to go ahead and start a game, feel free. I'm not sure that I'd participate (I've got a few stories I want to get out there, and that's probably going to suck up a lot of my time), but there are probably a few people on the board that'd love to get into an online game.
