[OpNet] Tips on filtering?

GateKeeper

Recommended Posts

Got my taste of how dangerous my work can be today. The facility hasn't even been setup yet but they had me bring in a hot op today.

I found out the hard way that bullets and other bad things can pass both ways through the gate. Anyone know if I can filter what I want to come through and what I don't? If not I am keeping my lily white ass behind the damn blast shield at all time!

I have attempted semi-permeable forcefields before, and it's not incredibly difficult if you're willing to expend the effort and the extra energy.

I would think you would have to try before you opened the gate, though. And attempting to add such features every time you open a gateway would likely both drain you quickly and lead to the unfortunate side effect of quantum backlash.

You might try learning to generate a personal protection forcefield (or area protection, which I've encountered in other novas before). Or find a way to become bulletproof.

I rather doubt that our paradigms are similar enough to give you advice on how to learn, though.

The will of a nova when augmented by the node can accomplish apparently anything the human mind can conceive of. Oh there's always that bit of discussion on bringing people back from the dead and what not but those are emotionally charged issues and usually filled with logical flaws. In short, there is no physical reason you couldn't filter what is and is not allowed to pass through.

Having said that, it occurs to me that you are still very much at the base of the learning curve, Gatekeeper. Stay behind the blast shield for now. Bring a book. Start some college courses.

Wow, what an excellent idea, cheers Alchemist, I could...

Open a gate above someones head and splash them with water for comedic effect.

Envelope the tablecloth from a table while leaving the cups still standing and the table still there.

Steal the petrol out of cars.

Swap works of art between different art galleries.

deleted in case someone thinks I'm crazy enough to do it

The posibilities are endless...

In the end, I'd say that the blast shield is a pretty good option. I mean, you can always learn a new superpower that lets you block bullets. However, you can also screw up when trying to use said ability. A couple inches of armor is something you can count on. ( :
