Ghostwriter
I've come to realise that too much leisure is as bad as too much work. While I enjoy being cooped up on an island with the sweetest guy in the world, I have decided that it's time to start getting off it and finding things to do. Like work and hobbies, for instance.I am turning to my fellow novas because let's face it, most baselines really don't have a clue about what suits a nova. So, any suggestions? Anything involving Elite work, violence or sexual intercourse will be shot down in flames. Thanks!Saimhe
Sakurako Hino
I could always use someone to catalog my research papers. Yes, I do keep hard-copies now, and it's starting to become a miniature library. >_<
Conduit
You know, that's actually my problem too. I've been kinda hanging out for a few years now, and I'm getting a little restless. That's why I started posting here. I don't have any Nova friends or influences so I thought I would get into the mix.Maybe you could take up model ship building, like putting them in tiny bottles. That wouldn't be a waste of time or anything.
Tarot
I hear they're looking for a new night manager at the Quickie Mart corner store in Hollywood. Art. I got to recommend art.If you do something with your hands you're a builder and that's cool. If you can get your hands and mind focused on the same thing then you're a craftsman. That ain't a bad thing either. But if you can get your hands, mind and heart into it at the same time, plus don't mind the caffeinated monkey on your back jonesing to create something, then maybe you're ready to create.Work is to pay the bills when you really want to be doing something else. So skip the work and go right to the something else part.
kestrel404
I've always been a workaholic. Even when I'm trying to just have fun, I end up doing what other people would considder 'work'. Find something you still have a passion for. Maybe you should try archaeology or anthropology. They both require a good knowledge of history, good instincts, and a thirst for knowledge, and they both tend towards exotic locales and interesting activities.I also think that you could be a very good curator.I'm not sure if any of those fit your new temperment, though.Conduit: Since I don't really know what you do, I can't suggest anything for you. Conduit
Hmm. Archaeology. I had a buddy from High School who became an archaeologist. I think he's in Boston working on his Ph.D. I haven't talked to him in a while. I could give him a call for you Saimhe. From what I have seen from the OpNet feeds and T2M I think you might be pretty good at it.
Conduit
Alchemist, I appreciate the thought. I don't really know what I do either . The last 5 years have been pretty intense. I guess I should start doing stuff now. I'm thinking road trip.
Preston
Considering your abilities and history ...How about a global language study? There are literally thousands of vanishing human languages out there. A nova could record them for posterity. Not just the languages, but their speakers' histories, music, legends, philosophy, and cultural reflections.By studying languages, you could also begin to study language drift, both forward and backwards and work on various theories on what lost languages would have been like in the spoken form, as well as what languages will sound like in the future. With your organizational skills and mental talents, this could be something you find both fullfilling and very, very time-consuming. Any number of linguistic institutes and groups would be happy to assist you, with the plus that you would be your own boss and work on your own schedule.
