[OpNet] Eureka!

After struggling with it for much too long, I have adapted my magnetic defenses into a sort of offense as well. I have slight control over metal objects and magnetic fields. Sure it's not impressive in our world nowadays, but it's great to see my struggling payoff.

Has anybody else managed to manifest their powers in a different way after struggling with them for a while. I had been messing with this since I've erupted.

That seems to be the only way I can grow at all. I've got a very good grasp of what I do, and applying it in new ways is how I get new abilities.

If you can perceive quantum, doing so while attempting to learn new abilities appears to help (me, at least).

Man, the only thing I've been working on since the frickin' DAWN OF TIME (or so it feels) is getting the whole Superman Invincibility thing. Surviving explosions and other sorts of Horrible DOOM just isn't merchandising-friendly when it rips all your skin off or burns most of an arm off, etc. Doesn't hurt and I'm fine...but man. I'm so jealous of those "Shrug off bullets and Look oh so pretty at the same time" boys & girls.

Still, the "zombie won't die" thing does help sell horror films. I remember one of Raja's guys actually saying..."Now if we detonate the explosives on your face right before we start filming everything should be fine."

But to really answer your question Bandwidth: The only power I've been able improve is smelling people's fear. Used to just be pretty general. Now I can search by: "Who is afraid of Clowns right now?" Kind of fun. Used it to track the guy who stole my fucking wallet back in March.

Bandwidth, exactly what allowed you to round the curve and achieve this new effect.

To answer your question:

Yes, I have. For me, it revolves around finding different ways to see my interactions with the universe around me.

Billy, sometimes looking really, really dead can be an asset. Don't knock it.

I guess it comes down to who makes up your "unpleasant people" demographic. Right now for me it's that obnoxious smelling guy that's renting the room above me, a few executives back at N!, and two ex-girlfriends.
Far too small an audience to really worry about what I do and say.

Well let's look at it this way. I don't have any unfriendly folks after me at the moment, and if there are any after me, it's not like this would truly make their job any harder.

You guys worry about life to much I don't see how you have time to live.

In theory, Bandwidth, that is why you have me on your team. To make the bad-people-out-to-hurt-you's job that much harder. laugh

He's a Magnetic Genius with pechance for confusing Peanut Butter with Particle Fusion. He's a Mystery Man with a past so convoluted, even he doesn't know who he is. They Fight Crime!

That's fucking Golden. You really need to pitch that to Lowry. Of course now you have to do one for each member of the team. :P

Unabashedly offtopic:

He's a Movie Star with the powers of the undead. He's a Mystic Chemist who's easily distracted by intellectual conversation. They Fight Crime!

Back to the topic at hand:

On the one hand, I can easily agree with VB's point. Don't give away good intel about your abilities. On the other hand, Bandwidth is about to star in a crime fighting reality TV series.

Of course if you're really good you can give as much as you like and still leave them none-the-wiser, coz you can always come up with a new way to use an old power. Of course you can also take the point of view that if anything you say might help the development of a fellow Nova then screw your own personal safety anyways wink

I did recently become able to manifest a new ability. I had struggled with it for ages as well so this is even on topic. I became able to gain control over my physical adaptions. I erupted with an ability to adapt my physical form, but these adpations were not under my control. If I went underwater then I became like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, in space my mouth closed up, posture altered and I looked silvery.

After some considerable effort I was able to gain control over these adaptions and I now no longer need to look weird when I expose myself to different environments unless I so choose. Took a while but my 'power' realised what I consciously knew anyway, even with the changes in my physical form there is no way I should be able to survive in some of the environments I can. Clearly something more than simple biology was at work here I reasoned. Turned out to be true.

Conversely I am now able to exercise considerable control over my physical form at will. So it was actually by learning to turn something off that I got the ability to turn on something new. I find one of the more interesting things about changing shape is that you also gain control over your internal structure and can even create organs that have no direct parallel in normal biology. You look unchanged on the outside but inside it's a whole different story. Consider for example those organs that create powerful chemicals with profound effects on the body and consider being able to enhance those organs or come up with new ones.

Dude. You have. NEVER Been so. FUCKING. HIGH. In. Your. Life.

Ya got a point there Bandwidth. As it is I've been working on my temporal manipulation for ages. Accellerating and decellerating is simple enough, but stopping time? talk about a serious headache.

"Ryu, are we gonna die?" "Probably."
