Bannon turned as the snap and jolt of lightning sounded above the cries of battle, the scent of roasting meat and ozone strong in the air. The pale lips of the slender man in the white suit drew back from his teeth in a smile that was more snarl as he took in the super-sized troops and their leader. With stoic resignation, Doctor Zero prepared to take life.

Djane readied herself, and paused, realizing two things in short order. First was that her powers had diminished drastically, which wasn't as much of a bother as she thought - not too long ago she didn't have any powers at all, so technically it still was a step up. It bothered her only in the sense that she might need those powers and very soon.

The second was the realization that they were more or less under her control - no more losing herself whenever Serene misspoke or if she misheard someone talking nearby. That actually did bother her - for the first time she was responsible for everything she did. No more turning Serene into a sexy succubus and proclaiming it wasn't her fault. If she screwed up, it was all on her.

So - determined not to screw up - she took a deep breath, and summoned an illusion of something big and scary.

The Verdant Grove

His ear was almost touching her lips but he still couldn’t make out any sound. The green-leaved woman looked at him with endless sadness and put her arms around his shoulders, then she slowly pulled him closer as if to kiss him...

Inexperienced as he was Nixx didn’t struggle against the Fairy’s attempt to kiss him. Their lips met and he felt an unfamiliar tingle running down his spine. A nice warmth flooded his being and he had to admit he actually liked it.

Arcana could tell that the Fairy’s intention seemed to harm him somehow but the moment their lips met her red eyes turned a bright green and she could tell that something had changed.

In Nixx’s mind he could see the Fairy and feel how grateful she was. He trusted her to do no harm, his innocence was so pure it washed away the taint that had seeded in her heart. The lamenting music stopped and a pleasent almost peaceful silence spread over the grove.

He could barely feel her but the warmth remained and it made him smile and feel all hazy. At the edges of his awareness Nixx could make out the trees slowly starting to move. Huge, towering behemoths of ancient age slowly gathered in the center of the groove right were Nixx and Arcana were standing until they completely surrounded them.

”You be friend or foe, young one?”, a low base-heavy voice intoned. It was impossible to tell who had spoken since all trees were ‘looking’ down at them.

The Ivory Tower

The Centurion exploded into a blossom of light and power his physical form igniting like a beacon as he shot into the air. Tailing burning plasma the stellar being rapidly ascended to the peak of the tower pushing back against the darkness with the burning light of his own form as he searched for signs of Aina and studied the inky fluid blackness that was oozing down from the parapet. "Aina! Do you yet live?!" he called out hoping that should could hear him and still act.

Hoping to gauge what kind of action will have the most effect on the darkness. Insight check: Roll: 14 +7 Modifier = +21

CC notes that the Darkness obviously flinches away from the light he emits. It is sticky and has slick surface almost like oil. There seems to be one larger ‘blob’ in the center of it where Aina just stood. The blackness slowly dissolves around the edges but leaves small critter-like creatures behind (imagine like mini-Venoms with huge mouths). The Critters start eating away at everything leaving behind an empty nothingness – literally nothingness

There was movement under the black carpet that was engulfing Aina. He could tell that the Dragon Queen was struggling to break free but something seemed to cut her off from her powers. The blackness had an evil almost palpable aura and he was sure it was responsible for the entire attack, including the massive hordes that were approaching from the north.

Echo could follow the battle over the Crystal Network and saw the approaching Ogres trying to flank from the side but the Legacy Heroes were already regrouping to thwart the attack. It troubled her how fast the Ogres managed to break through, something about their movement was shrouded else Echo would’ve noticed their approach much earlier. Unfortunately she had little time to take care of this since a more immediate threat was just next door...

The Frontline

The Ogres’ approach seemed unstoppable as they mowed through the Elven forces who had nothing at their disposal to even slow them down. Aidan swooped over them raining deathly fire over them but the Ogre-Mage managed to summon a protective shell that absorbed the attack making the air cackle with vulgar display of magical power. The Ogre-Mage drew his powers directly from the bowels of hell...

When he enters the area of Serene's effect, DC 22 to resist her pheromones.

Serene was terrified of the charging army with their vast powers and menacing ogres. They seemed to be a flood of living mayhem and death. And they were really, really loud - the sound of their advance was like standing in front of a concert speaker. It wasn't a noise that was heard as much as felt throughout your body.

Father wouldn't have been afraid.

That thought drove her to not falter. The Ogre's eyes remained unclouded; Serene bared her teeth as she drew her throwing star out of her pouch. A leap into the air put her high enough to launch them over her teammate's heads. Her arm whipped forward and threw the star - now made of twisted thorn branches. They felt like metal, and they spun out of her fingers like the metal ones. But they weren't. This place is so weird, Serene thought as she tumbled gracefully back to the ground, coming up in a run and keeping pace with the others.

Serene's Throwing Star attack:

Serene's throwing stars would've solidly connected across the Ogre-Mage's chest if they had not been deflected by some kind of magical sphere that surrounded the Ogre. Harmlessly the stars fell to the ground where they took root and blossomed to roses within seconds.

Toughness save vs. DC 21 (1d20+14=33)

The Ogre Soldier's were charging past their leader tackling those who stood in the front line and thus entering Serene's pheremone cloud...

Will Save vs. DC 22 (1d20+7=12) This takes effect next round/after the Ogres acted the first time.

OOC: Next up is Aeonian, then Teletha

The face shield closes over Aeonian's helmet, and locks in place. Moving into a safe angle she slams her staff down, sending out a conical arc of sonic energy into the mass of ogres from the crystal floating between the upright bars on the tuning fork-like apparatus of her staff. "I hope you liked Dinner... you're going to be tasting it again."

Since this is the turn the attack is an area attack, I can't make an attack roll, but all within the cone must make their save as normal.

It was as if a second, gentle sun was shining on him. The Green Man smiled lazily and swayed with the breeze. The quieter song of the rustling grass in the clearing and the worms tunneling under his toes was very much to his liking.

Despite his pleasant stupor he managed a cogent, almost lyrical response to the gathering forest. "Friends most certainly. Indeed, what depraved souls could not feel love for the peace, the grace, the grandeur, the beauty..." at that adjective his eyes turned toward the Fairy and his smile broadened slightly"...of this place and its inhabitants?"

His eyes widened and he played a faint, yet ominous chord on his fiddle, "Alas, the monstrous answer to that approaches even now! And so we dared to hope that we might be both friends and allies... if you would accept an alliance with such beings as me and my fellows, who are primarily humble creatures of flesh, earth and strange magic."

He reached out sleepily for Arcana's hand, hoping she might join him in a respectful bow.

Aeonian's sonic blast hit the mass of ogres but unfortunately didn't slow them down or seemed to have any other immediate effect. Slowly the reason for their unhindered approach became apparent. These Ogres were not your average 'Soldier', they seemed to be some kind of Elite sent to deal with the young heroes...

Fortitude save vs. DC 20 Affliction (1d20+15=29) - that's a 29 and saved

Since Justin is absent for the next days I'm taking over TK - you guys will deal with one Ogre less

Next up is TK, then MegaGirl

For TK, seeing the Ogre Mage made her smile. She knew it was likely he might counter this, but nonetheless, it was a good shot for those left to go. First she said the quick incantation that made her skin match her hair, adamant and unyielding, then unleashed her anti-magic field.

shifting array to protection 10, Nullify 12 with all extras and feats

Echo observed the encroaching darkness with mounting concern. She had no idea how to fight a foe like this. It was a force of nature...fighting it would be like raining laser blasts into a typhoon. Pointless. But then she saw the Centurion, and the effect his light had, and a notion occurred to her. His light weakened and diffused the dark. Her own weapon was a powerful light, focused intensely. Perhaps then, it would be effective after all.

To the top of the tallest spire she went. The crystals in her arm began to glow brilliantly with a clear, pure white light. Light that speared out of her outraised hand and scorched a trail through the gathering gloom; slicing through it like a knife.

Centurion! she called through the crystal link, Go to Aina! I will cover you!

The beams of concentrated daylight stabbed and slashed, like swords, cutting away the tendrils that threatened Centurion on his way to help the Queen of Dragons, aided by the Centurion's own light and how it weakened the dark around him.

The Ivory Tower

The light cut through the darkness like a hot knife through butter. Even though the darkness seemed all consuming at first its power was diminished and not at full force. The black oily 'creature' made hissing noises where Echo's light made contact as it pathed itself through to Aina.

There was a small opening, large enough for a human but not for Aina - a full grown Dragon. But maybe the Centurion had a way to rescue her out of the clutches of darkness.

You have a line of sight to Aina. She is still completely shrouded by the Darkness but you can now make out a silhoutte.

The Frontline

Teletha cast a powerful protective spell and even though it had no immediate visual effect everyone inside the nullify-field could feel the power. The ranged combatants would benefit from the protection but those who charged into melee-range would have to do without.

OOC: Next up is MegaGirl - on Deck: Bannon

The Verdant Grove

The large living trees fell into a short quarrel which sounded like the brushing of leaves on a windy autumn night. It was hard to follow, but Nixx got an impression that they were debating the situation and some of the smaller trees were reporting that dark and evil forces were indeed approaching and already reaching the outer rim of the forest.

"Show us where - we help you but request a favor in return. A favor from the Dragons.

Alamaise hesitated briefly but then nodded which seemed good enough for the elder trees to set themselves in motion. They were now marching into the Horde's flank...

Echo will be able to notice this with a normal perception roll

When Noonian's staff yelled at the ugly Ogres and did nothing except make them uglier, Karra knew it was her turn to step up. The enormous blue-skinned beauty stomped up to the front of the party, the ground shaking with each step, her heavy chest expanding mightily as she inhaled, the air shrieking pass her lips.

For a second, all was silent. Karra focused herself, leaning forward as she settled into a broad stance, then exhaled a terrible blizzard. Her breath struck the front rank of the Elite Ogres with the force of a hurricane, shoving them back, away from her friends, shards of ice lacerating their flesh, fresh snow swirling through the air. As the snow and ice fell to the ground, the tremendous wind died down to an ephemeral breeze, and a loud crack shattered the air.

"You're bad!" Karra boomed, smacking her fist in her open hand. "I don't like bad people. Let me show you what I do to people who hurt my friends, like the little elfy people!"

Like a blazing torch, the flame clad Centurion shot forward toward Aina. Burning a path to the monarch. He stopped short and for a moment Echo wondered what had happened but then she saw that a cascade of power was building within his burning form. Only her enhanced reflexes allow her to turn away when his body went nova blasting the solar flame from his body in a sphere of incandescent destruction and leaving the solid humanoid soldier behind. With barely a thought he brought still more of his considerable power to bear and erected a sphere of solar plasma around the two of them cutting off the darkness from the Queen of the realm.

COSMIC POWERS ACTIVATE!!!!!!!!!!
Move Action - moving to be next to Ainia </p><p>Free Action - switching array slots</p><p>Standard Action - using extra effort to stunt a new power - <strong>NOVA: </strong>Burst Area Damage 13 (damage type: solar plasma) - <u>Save DC 28</u></p><p>Free Action - switching array slots</p><p>Extraordinary Effort - <strong>SURGE!!</strong> for a new Standard Action - Activating <span style="font-weight: bold; ">Cosmic Solids:</span> Create Object 10 [stationary, Tether, Movable] and creating a bubble of stellar material around himself an Aina</p><p> Note: I'm assuming that his attack will blow all of the black gunk off of Aina prior to him creating the protective bubble, if that is wrong I will do something else.</p><p>Note 2: I'm also assuming I can swap array slots twice this round since I am using extraordinary effort to surge.

MegaGirl’s impressive attack engulfed the approaching Ogres in an icy cold blizzard storm. The force of her breath shook the earth and left a trench of frozen land in its wake. For a moment the Ogres were gone – completely covered under the avalanche of Karra’s furious attack but as soon as she stopped exhaling the Ogres continued their approach – almost as if nothing had touched them.

The huge creatures simply resisted the elements and raised their weapons, poised to strike once they were within range...

Dodge Roll vs. Karra's Hurricane Breath DC 23 (1d20+5=13)

Athletics Roll to avoid being tripped by Hurricane Breath. Opposed by Hurricane Breath. (1d20+15=30)

Opposed Check to Trip Ogres with Hurricane Breath (1d20+13=24)

The blazing light cut through the darkness like a hot knife through butter revealing Aina’s unconscious body underneath. A terrifying scream echoed through the valley as the darkness tried to find a place to retreat to, to recover from the cosmic light. Where the darkness dissolved it left a greyish smoke behind which slowly dissipated into nothingness. A dark face formed from the billowing smoke which screamed angrily at it’s inability to stop the Celestial Centurion.

The Golden Armored Hero reached for the Dragon Queen with his cosmic powers and snatched her from the dark embrace pulling her free as he approached her prone body.

Resistance roll vs. Centurions Nova-Burst DC 28 (1d20+14=24)

I used to wrong modifier – Fortitude is actually halved vs. CCs attack. The total of this roll is 17 and not 24.

The Darkness is receding continiously and the black critter like creatures are scurrying away in panik dissolving into grey smoke where they’re seperated from the darkness.

OOC: Next up is Echo
