hi...um...i'm not too sure how to do this, but... i guess i should just introduce myself.

my name is stephanie hu zhan (you can tell), but just call me stephanie. i don't have a cool nova name or anything like that. i don't really want one. i wish i wasn't a nova at all. erupting pretty much ruined my life. i know some of you got "cool" powers and can do all sorts of wonderful things, but not me. i sort of got the shaft when they were passing out the "cool" powers. my powers aren't "cool", i promise. i really just wish i could go back to being a baseline girl.

but, i thought that maybe i could find some support here and get to understand my condition better. i figure maybe if there's something good or positive i can do with my powers, they won't be such a waste, and neither will i. right now i'm looking into groups like project utopia and some non-profit philanthropic organizations, but nobody seems to want to deal with the unique problem that is my powers.

maybe one of you knows somebody who can just shut powers off? anybody?

Hello, Stephanie. First, welcome to the forum. It is a very interesting place, and there are many friendly people here.

You don't really need a nova name, and you should not feel pressured to choose one. I have one because it is literally a gift from my children, otherwise I wouldn't really bother.

I might be able to help you with your powers, or direct you to someone who can. But a bit more detail would be useful. Why should we not get close to you? Is it dangerous?

Stephanine, all I can suggest is to work very closely with the professionals at the Rashoud Clinics. They know a lot more than most about how to deal with nova powers, and the common brusqueness of the medical profession aside, are really good people. They are there to help you and make sure that your transition to a nova life with as little difficulty as possible.

i guess it would probably be a good idea to tell you all what it is i can do so you can understand where i'm coming from.

so far, nobody has really had a chance to check me out. they can't get close enough. but i'm a pretty good student and good at science, so i think i have a basic idea of what it is i'm doing. the results are obvious enough, but i've researched a little online (remotely), too.

basically, i destroy everything and everyone i touch. no matter what it is or how strong a person is, being near me seems to break everything down to vapor. it gets worse when my emotions are heightened, too. if i get upset or happy or...anything, the field of destruction extends even several feet out. when i erupted, all my clothes and the car i was sitting in were broken down to nothing. so was several feet of pavement and concrete underneath me.

since then, things have gone downhill. i can't stay in my room because i'll destroy it. i can't put on more clothes because i destroy them. i can't get close to my mom because i'll kill her. i have to spend every moment (and it's a good thing i don't sleep anymore) focusing on levitating high enough off the ground that i don't totally wreck wherever i'm standing.

my mother called utopia this morning, but i think they underestimated how really destructive i am. the asked me if i could drive in to a rashoud facility first, but i'd have to walk there (my control over my flight...if i can fly at all...is really poor) and it's several miles for which i'd have to walk without clothes(!!!) the entire way. when my mother told them they'd have to come for me, they sent a t2m auxiliary member (porcelain, a very nice chinese lady) to pick me up. i appreciate that they had the sensitivity to send a woman, but they still didn't seem to understand the full depth of my situation. my mother told them about the problem i have with clothes, so porcelain very nicely brought me a eufiber suit (courtesy of utopia), but it disintegrated before i could "attune it to my quantum signature". porcelain was really nice and tried to give me a hug when she saw that, but i hurt her, too, which really seemed to surprise her. she told me she'd return with someone who could open warp gates, and she returned a few hours ago with firefly (i didn't know she could do that!). but when firefly opened the gate for me (we were headed to the local rashoud facility, where they had a private area set up for me), i sort of tore it apart. i don't know how or why, but both porcelain and firefly were really surprised and told me they'd never seen anybody sunder a warp gate before.

this really sucks. it's been a couple of hours since porcelain and firefly left hopelessly, promising to return once they've consulted with some others. i'm sitting here in my parent's garage and there's nothing i can do and nowhere i can go. the only reason i can even compose these messages is because my friend tessa is sitting on the other side of the room with her laptop, typing this all for me as i speak it.

this sucks.

I ran into a nova like you once.He is dead now..But I think I know how to help you.I think his name "death granter".It was some Europe name and it doesn't translate well. But I control gravity,and as such I control many things that you are interfering with. I do not know the terms that go with what I did, but basically when he tried to hit me, I forced the things he was trying to destroy back together.

For those that haven't bothered to study the works of Doctors Rashoud and Mazarin, or taken a course in quantum physics; you do not control gravity. Stephanie does not destroy matter. Ashnod does not control time. We, all of us, simulate those effects by direct manipulation of quantum energy. Hence Stephanie does not interfere with something you control.

Lose sight of that simple fact, start playing amateur paraphysician and the likelihood of someone getting seriously hurt increases exponentially.

No one on earth is a full extpert on what novas can do. The white lab coat,and plaque on the wall does not make you any better at knowing novas can do, than the practical training I have. You may know more words, but words are pour tolls to explain the world around us.Some words can't be defined. Yet we use them and know they are real.

first i'd like to thank you all for your concern. up until very recently i would shy away from places like this as matter of course, reasoning that i would never be able to communicate with novas, many of whom are incredibly intelligent or have fantastical experiences under the belts. desperation drove me hear, but it gladdens me to know that this isn't as awkward or painful or weird as i thought it would be.

however, jager, i would like to point out that while you're very kind, i'm less a "lady" than a "girl". i'm only 17, and would normally be graduating high school this year.

so i hope all of you are understanding of my reticence in this matter. i know that this is a time of critical desperation for me, but i guess my silly baseline modesty still takes issue with the idea of a bunch of novas showing up at my door when i can't throw anything on.

to answer some of your questions...

1.we can only get a rough measurement (down to a few inches, give or take) of how far my sphere of destruction extends, but at the time of my eruption i totalled at '10 excursion suv and left a crater maybe ten to twelve feet in diameter. at the edges of my sphere, it tends to get weaker. things on the periphery tend to get all messed-up, but they don't tear straight apart.

2.if i stand on the ground (still hovering!), the reaction tends to depend on the tensile strength and density of the ground. loose soil is turned up immediately, but concrete takes a second to rupture and crack and then scatter. water is immediately turned to vapor (i checked in my tub). metal begins to corrode instantly.

3.i hadn't thought about the air thing, but that's a good point. i actually didn't even need the aerosol to test that, but it was a good idea. i sort of just stopped breathing and realized after a few minutes of what i thought was holding my breath that i didn't really need to breathe. it's cold here in the garage (the termometer says so, anyway, but i can't feel it) and everyone else's breath freezes; mine doesn't, even when i force breathing.

4.to answer preston's question (in greater detail), no, i don't feel particularly any of those things. it hadn't occurred to me that was at all strange, the not being hungry or thirsty...i just figured the worry was driving me to it, along with the sleeplessness. but now that i reflect on it a bit, and stop to test, i think i can confirm that no, i don't feel hungry or tired or thirsty or even need to breathe, and like i said, i don't feel how cold it is in this garage, even though the thermometer says it's 29f. the headaches are definetely there, but nothing i've never felt before. maybe i got lucky, but when i erupted i mostly felt panic, and since then i've felt little other than...well, fear, of course, and helplessness...but physically, just a nagging ache at the front of my skull that extends to my temples. nothing to write home about.

utopia called back to tell me they had to suspend three different ideas they had because they didn't think any of them would work. whoop-dee-doo. i guess it's another night in the garage.

preston, i have a request for you. there is a small...legal issue...i guess you could call it...regarding my eruption. you might already know, if you look in the police blotter or have friends in the dcpd. if you happen to have any friends in the dcpd neu, it could really help me a lot in the way of dealing with something that happened recently. if you find out what i mean on your own, please don't announce it here. i'd rather it didn't get out.

i appreciate the thought, blackstar, honestly i do, but it seems like each solution presents a new set of problems.

i am sure that you could transport me using your power, since i've heard about telekinesis before, but again, where would i go? the rashoud facility is a good twenty minute drive away. do you propose you levitate a naked girl through the air for a twenty mile walk to washington city? i can suspend myself in midair, and if it was as simple as that, i'd just get there myself. the problem lay in drawing attention, which is bad for me for more reasons than just simple modesty.

i suppose that if i could situation myself in a large enough container and be driven...hey, why didn't those utopia quacks think of that?! i'm calling those idiots right now!!!

Without a personal look, I can't be sure, but I hazard to guess that that wouldn't be any more effective than a gate attempt. The only thing likely to rip apart a gate terminus would be some kind of high-powered quantum static, which would disrupt a teleport just as badly.

That, or possibly an equally intense gravity distortion. I've no idea what would happen if you tried to put her through a teleport if that were the case. Maybe it would work, maybe something really nasty would happen.

Just as a theory, both of those effect could account for the damage you're doing to your environment, Stephanie. If the quantum disruption were strong enough, you could be breaking things down on a subatomic level, and some kind of gravity lensing around your body could do similar (might account for your ability to levitate as well).

Given that teaching you to dorm would probably take too much time, I think Preston's thought of getting a nova who can shut you down might be for the best. Short term solution, though.

I must agree with Alex on this. A nova with the ability to turn off other nova's powers (or the ability to temporarily remove aberrations, since I've heard that is theoretically possible) would be necessary at this point.

It sounds like your abilities are a very extreme form of entropy, from the way you describe your effects on your environment. As such, I have no ability beyond a keen mind that can help you. As for moving to the Rashoud Facility, if you do not wish to attract attention, try levitating higher. Since you have been levitating for an entire day at this point, it is fairly safe to assume you can do it for long periods of time without fear.

If you can move, say, three or four hundred feet straight up, you will be nearly invisible from the ground, and can get to the facility without fear of being seen.

Otherwise, wait of a power suppressing nova. I wish you luck.
