Holograms keep moving closer to a useful reality, if entertainment and fully 3D teleconferencing are useful. Probably insidious military industrial complex machinations will soon follow. The 16 cameras necessary for the one version make it unwieldy for most applications but I am sure porn studios will leap in, adding in robotic marital aids to round out the experience.

Lighter-than-air ships, so often shown in alternate realities and steam punk, had a Science Friday story on NPR a while back. They're in science news again after several military contracts were awarded this summer and test flights have been spotted. The new designs go in two directions: long distance weight haulers and military floating observation platforms, the latter job performed by balloons in the Civil War.

Robotic limbs controlled by your toes, your chest or your brain

Researchers at Caltech and The University of Pittsburgh are experimenting with cortical implants in spinal injury patients to control a robotic limb with 25 degrees of freedom. Another researcher is looking rocket propulsion to give limbs the reaction time and power they need. Although the dream is spoiled somewhat at the end of the article, where the current state of robots is likened to the zombie apocalypse, where escape means "walk just a little bit faster."

And remember, Harrison Ford says "There's no future in dead Han toys."

Does anyone else remember this game from back in the day?

I had never seen that before or heard of the game. A million a week for an arcade game sound like a good chunk of money.

Not to mention that it was back in the early 90's as well...

I never got past the first level; was too busy trying to figure out how it worked.
