Avatar the Last Airbender: A Second Chance - Chapter 1d: The Meeting

Yana walked comfortably through the rain with Kiara the Air Bison, usually a sight to bring out crowds due to the impressiveness of Kiara`s size and Yana`s beauty, right now they were alone, very much so as Yana was accustomed to the whispering of the spirits fleeting by.

As she walked through the desolate streets covered in shadows and dark corners, she could feel a light tug on her presence, like something was directing her, a faint whisper toyed in her ears "Ianis is waiting, we are waiting" the sound was mysterious, almost haunting as it came to her ears without the usual echo associated with the small hallways of Ba Sing Se, and it seemed to almost supersede the sound of pouring rain all around her.

She leaned into the damp fur of her companion, "Did you hear that, Kiara? Someone's talking about Ianis...." Her brow creased in a frown as she looked around the drenched street, trying to get some idea of where the whisper was coming from or if it had more to say.

"Maybe..." She bit her lip and started to retrace her steps to where she'd parted with the group she'd met earlier. "Maybe we'd better see if we can leave tonight. They were all at that inn, right? The one with the cabbages and the people that were staring at us. It's....this way, right?"

Kiara gestured towards a street behind Yana, one of the streets they had come through earlier on that evening.

Beware Yana, not everything is what it seems and not everyone is who they say.

Kiara urged Yana to move along slightly faster, expecting a response from her.

Yana changed direction and picked up speed at the prompting of her friend and companion. "I know," she murmured quietly, "I'm just worried about Ianis and...well, this is big. Bigger than we've dealt with before. We're going to need help, and the wind brought us here and brought those other people here at the same time. Maybe there's a reason for it. Maybe not."

She leaned into the thick, warm fur of Kiara and sighed, "I'll be careful, but we've got to start somewhere, and somewhere with people that could be friends and allies is better than somewhere where we're alone." They continued their walk at a quick clip, closing in on the inn and the hope of help there.

Her pace was quick, aided by her natural agility and her ability to lean on Kiara on the streets that were pooled higher up, this helped her make a swift time to the Inn, leaving the voices behind and rushing headlong into a very different kind of weird situation.
