Jager
Yet another nova has headed out into the inky darkness.Jack Chance said his good-byes and took his one-way trip out of this solar system. I don't think he ever plans to return. Now Sandy has beaten feet off this big blue marble. Gone to find herself and "see God". Maybe she will make it back. Maybe she will find something out there she couldn't find here. Maybe she will find herself and stay out among the stars. Maybe the one who comes back won't be Sandy. The Universe is a quirky place. But, the beat goes on.
Sakurako Hino
Eh... 'scuse me for a moment... gotta wake up... I've noticed I sleep more dormed... Jager, you just said Sandy LEFT? I mean... Final Frontier gones-ville? Damn, I leave for a constitutional and everyone decides to bail out! What's going on?
David 'Dr. Troll' Smith
I'm still around. And Sandy might be back. If Walker is allowed to go off and contemplate the universe, I think we have to let Sandy do it too.Say, she wrote me a note. What does Quote:Doc, I have a gift for you when I get back, one that looks good in red, with leather.mean to you? [it was impossible to be in the same room as that girl and not have romantic (and not so romantic) thoughts about her, but my mind might be just dirty.]
Sakurako Hino
...I'm going to have to watch my in-box. Just cleaned it out and got the server working remotely. It's just an Op-Mail reciever right now. Er... give me a minute... [Connection Pause][Connection Restored] Okay, I just checked my messages, and I found this... Vixen
I'll always have fond memories of Sandy... she was the first nova I ever met. She was right there when I learnt how to un-dorm myself, she got me through a lot.I'll miss her. I wish I could have given her what she was looking for. Hugin
Interesting. Sounds completely cracked to me. But then, I sound completely cracked to some other people. It's all a matter of perspective.
Sakurako Hino
Well, some people have to go on a long walkabout before they find what they are looking for. I guess Novas need A LOT of room for such things. Sorta sucks I can't do that. Little problem with needing air. Minor inconvienience. ~.^Oh well. Best of luck to her. Hopefully she'll stay safe, I doubt she'll be in much danger, but I do worry. It's a force of habit I know. -.-;
Cody
Walkabout makes it sound like they'd have a reason to come back for more than a visit. If we really can do anything it stands to reason that someday coming back here would be like trying to live in the tree house dad built when we were five. Arek
What is it with people and outer space?Yes, I'm sure that the view is majestic, the experience unforgettable, but the fact remains that there is a great deal of emptiness out there. And to the best of my recollection, none of us have made contact with other species out there. We are effectively alone. Now, perhaps I speak for myself when I say this, but I do not think I could function on my own for the prolonged periods of time I would be by myself in space, even if I had the means for survival and effective transportation. I need emotional and mental contact with other beings, whether they be baseline or Nova. How others can do without it boggles my mind.Given the choice between leaving this planet and exploring the bountiful void or space, or remaining on our (relatively) tiny planet, I think I'd rather remain terra firma. Cody
I agree with you on this Arek but my abilities are like yours since they don't do much without something to work with. Only the ones that left can answer your question but the bitch of it is that you'd have to go find them to get the answer.Of course if you could survive the trip to go ask them then you probably wouldn't need to ask the question. Maybe that's the point. Or maybe we're just not cut out to go where they've gone.

Sakurako Hino
Errr... TUM TUM could eat the moon, theoretically. Cody
I know exactly what you're saying Neil. When you do three impossible things before lunch the rest of the day just seem to glide by like a dream. It changes what you think is possible. Now a days impossible is more a question of scale than anything.I think what really bothers me is how little it bothers me that things are changing so fast. I have dreams about that once in a while that use to wake me up in a cold sweat but now they don't. I guess I'm getting use to this.Don't sweat it Delicious. Maybe Tum Tum wants you for dessert instead of for dinner.

Apep
Of course nothing that is obviously Utopia would be doing anything obviously wrong. But there are places where, if you look hard enough, or dig deep enough, will see that they are somehow related to. I'd rather not go into specific examples, can be a bit personal, sorry. Preston
Damn. Now I am agreeing with Apep.Cody, if you want to investigate Utopia, be very careful. I can't describe the utter hell they put me through. Literally, I can't discuss it because of the legal actions taken against my city of residence. Their lawyers are damn good. I will give them that.Better yet, try taking any information to a reputable source. It's not going to happen. None of the big boys want to run up against Utopia, and any little guy will get crushed faster than you can say "Scientology".If you persist, all that this kindly old officer of the law can say is be very, very careful. After all, investigative journalism can be a dangerous undertaking, all of which would never ever have anything to do with anyone you would be investigating. Ever.
Cody
HOLD ON! Who said anything about investigating Utopia. I asked for some examples to figure out what she was talking about. The farther away from these dicks the better I like it. At least with cops you know there is only two choices. Either they want to help you or screw you. With the project there is no way to tell what they want.
Preston
Good for you, Cody. I was just erring on the side of caution. Don't forget, that cops have to:Tell you why you are detained/arrested,provide you legal counsel if you ask for it, can only hold you for 48 hours without arraining you in a court of law, and, can not deny you outside contact.Remember, even the Feds have to use these rules. Let them shout "National Security" all they want. The Supreme Court is on your side.If they ever deny you any of this, just sit back, smile, and don't tell them anything. It's your right as a citizen.
