Okay, we got one who can provide transport. Who else? Maybe a backup just incase? Also who else wants in on the trip? I do reccomend that only a small away team goes. Just to reduce potential of a huge bodycount if something goes wrong. Anomie, the destination is the moon. I'll send you a map of the base camp location.

...It's a vial of my little sister's ashes...

When I erupted, she asked me if one day I'd take her there for a jaunt. Unfortunately now it'd be in spirit. I'm also going to invest some energy into a nodestone, and leave it with her ashes. That way, there would be a light where I leave the vial. So one day I could return there and visit.

I've picked a spot near the Sea of Tranquility we can set up camp. But when I leave the memento... I'd like a few minutes to myself. But afterward, we could have some fun.

Maybe we could find the Apollo 11 landing site and take some pics? wink

I understand. I know what it means to lose someone close to you. Take all the time you need up there.

I did something similar up there a few years after I erupted. Who knows, maybe we're the start of a trend in turning the moon into a large memorial for lost loved ones.

As for Apollo 11.... let me clean up there. It needs it after one of my associates and me had a bit of an.... entangelment with a particularly dangrous Nova we were persuing at the time. Please don't ask.

We didn't come to close to the site. It's just that the surrounding landscape has quiet a few more craters now. And there are probably still quiet a few body parts left scattered about. We were in a hurry when we left. But we replanted the flag before we took off, and a cursery glance seemed to reveal that we didn't harm the LEM(whew). Just give me a day's heads up so I can go up there with a hefty bag laugh .

No I don't. And trust me, you don't want to find out you don't need one the way I did. It's not fun to have your suit punctered in the middle of combat while out in deep space. Even though the vacume or cold didn't kill me, I nearly had a heart attack from the panic.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those types that do. I guess I was formatted differently. But that sucks you found out that way. I mean, I could imagine some of that horror. I was almost shredded by a shark way before my eruption. About a couple of years before. Still got the scar on my leg. Ever since I've had a phobia of getting into the ocean. Lakes, rivers, pools, I'm fine. But get me into the pacific, and watch me squirm. So, no scuba trips to the barrier reef, or snorkelling in the carribean... Not without anti-shark gear, all the safety equipment I could lug... etc, etc. Hell, when I took that cross-pacific trip, people said that If I drowned in the get-up I was wearing, it'd be an act of god.

But that's beside the point. :P

Just wish some others would sign on. It'd be a nice weekend get-away.

Here be Walker!!

The moon shouldn't provide any special problems that we need to look out for, there's been no indication of any strong solar activity so radiation shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Anomie,
Were you pulling my leg when you said about the Veil Nebula? If not my response is ... WOW. It normally takes me a week or more of pointless quantum burning to open a gate even as far as A Centauri or UV Ceti.

Endeavor.

I also can provide transport, though I'm sorry to say not nearly as far as Anomie or perhaps even Walker. It's been a long, long time since I went for distance.

I won't be needing any special treatment, either. I found out the easy way that the vacuum of space may as well be San Francisco Bay to me.

Perhaps sometime, you can I could plan a more..."private" excursion to one of my favorite spots.

Well, to be technical, body parts freeze-dry in space (seeing as water instant turns to ice in a vacuum, no matter what the temperature...).

Bodies themselves? Well... There are a few options. None of them sound particularly fun to me...

Walker:

Sweet Deal! If you ant in, I'll give a buzz for when we plan on going. Again we'll need some minor planning (Since I'm a wuss-nova who needs more prep than others...).

Ronin:

Sweet. If you're in as well, then I should figure out a date, and a day or two before we should get all of our planning in order.

And on the side, I'd like to know where this private spot is...

Sandy & Anomie:

You guys have been out THAT far? O.O

Endeavor,

Count me in, I don't need prep time at all but if you need any help with the planning gimme a call.

Anomie,

The furthest I've been out is Iota Horologii, at the time I went, which was in the days before the Keplar space telescope, it was one of the few stars confirmed to have a planet, a gas giant within the life zone of the star. I was hoping that the gas giant would have a number of moons on which I might find life and a terrestrial like environment. Sadly I was dissapointed in my hopes, the gas giant in question being orbited by a few rocky moonlets and an extensive ring system. The problem came when I tried to get back home, see I had really pushed my powers to get out that far, I didn't realise how much I had pushed myself and how lucky I had been till I tried to get back to earth. Numerous attempts to open a gate back failed and I started to become low on quantum juice, my body which had already altered to cope with vaccum conditions started to undergo an even more profound change. I entered into a state not unlike hibernation, I remained aware of my surroundings but my metabolic processes slowed to a crawl, my body flatened and widened and took on a dark green tint. I achieved a type of equalibrium my body photosynthesising and recylcing it's own resources whilst my node slowly trickle charged my 'quantum batteries', burning what juice was needed to keep me alive in the hostile environment. Eventually after a few more attempts I was able to escape that particular system, though it was ten years before I came home to earth.

Sandy,

Alpha Centauri A, B and Proxima Centauri are usually considered part of the same star system, they are 4.3 LY distant with Proxima being the closest component by a margin. If you're interested, none of the planets host indigenuos life, though one orbiting AC B would be a far more suitable candidate for teraforming than mars and I'm surprised it's barren. That stuff on Titan might be liquid but it's not water.

Thank you for the abject lesson in going too far. Now I know why I've never bothered to try for distance.
That's curiosity and cats for you smile I could have probably made it back in five or six but I got sidetracked by some interesting, though not exactly terrestrial, ecologies that I found out there. To be honest it wasn't just curiosity, I had some rather disturbing visions of events likely to happen in the future, to avoid such unpleasentness I decided to go on an extended vacation.

You sound like you would have made a perfect addition to the group I used to work with.
Anomie, was this an independent group or the Daedalus League?

Walker

Not to sound to full of myself, but I doubt that anyone in the League has even dreamed of some of the things we have seen.

Deeth

You may want to talk to Endeavor as she's the one who is organizing this little expedition. But I don't think there is any charge for this service, unless you need to be equiped with vacuume survival gear. If that's the case, I don't know if you should talk to Endeavor or NASA.

Walker:

It's actually a form of gasoline. Like liquid natural gas or petrol. Very flammible. And thanks for joing on. I guess you're bored and need to stretch the legs a bit huh?

Deeth:

I'm the one you'd need to talk to if you need a spacesuit. I do have some un-marked spares I can get ready for space. Just give me a holler if you want in. For free.

Ronin:

That might be an option for a nice getaway... As long as we could minimize the risk to my body. Remember, what to you is just a walk in the park could kill me if I'm not prepared.

Some of you guys really are lucky dogs, you know that. frown

E-Chan,

Sure or like pressurised lighter gas. Not really bored, in fact this month I've been very, very busy, so I'm needing some R&R time. Don't take this the wrong way, you sound like you're needing the break as well. Don't run yourself down, you can fly and chuck cherry blossom energy bolts about.

Anomie,

I'm sure we've dreamed of it, just never seen it, you have, my hat is off to you.

Deeth,

Glad to have you aboard, I just ignore the funny looks, you can't control what people think, well, actually some can but that's a different matter.

That is true Jager... I guess if I died once and came back, that doesn't mean I am not able to do it again.... does it?

I sent a message to Endeavor, but I kept getting some Dr person... I asked that my message be sent on if it was possible.

Jager..SPace lets me go "nova" and feel good about it.I mean if I let my powers go allout on earth I could make a flash point. You know how o2 burns.

So wile space may be deadly and evil..It about the only place where I can let all limits go.Only reason ia m here and nt there..SPace is lonely.I mean really lonely.

Not just lonely in the I have no firends kinda of way, but the way..not oen is aorund for a few million clicks way.

ANd Deeth, if you toss enough coins in the air, oen will be bound to land on it's edge. But I wouldn't bet on that.So you may have come back form the dead, but I wouldn't call myself imortal..As there is dead a knife to the gut.And then there is dead beiing mopped by a hazzmat unit.

I am not that type of Nova.As for my handle, It is for a completly diffrent reason. If you ever find out why,I would keep you mouth shut.It is something I not take much pride in now..But I keep that name,as I like it.

After all I was tought for about seven years to hate novas before becomign one.So there is one reason. But ther eis more than that.

Born and raised in a curch of the Saint Paul, of the frist oder. These people are the kind that used to burn Tolken.Th type of people who hated novas before there were novas.

Do I still love my family in that mind set.I sure do.Becuase that is what love means.

Now back to space.I think Endeavor could buy a lot of the stuff neeeded for space flight with the check she will get in the mail.I set oup a little trust fund for her when I heard she first needed money, for something else.Welll you know how well placed stocks are.I Who knew that a former hard core porn star could sell so many bibbles.
