Aberrant RPG - Church of Astaroth: Anybody Use Them?

I'm curious if anyone has encountered these set of ultimate nova losers, and if so, how it went.

Pots had them show up every now and then. They made pretty decent villains in a "show up and be evil" kind of way. I think he even has a fiction on one of them around.

They showed up a few times in the chronicle my old ST ran several years back. Aside from providing threats to hapless baselines (innocent or otherwise), they made convenient patsies/scapegoats for the series' villains and our player character group (once). The 3 minor nova Domitori (sp?) wound up being mistakenly black-bagged by Proteus due to misdirection from the PCs. Astaroth himself was kidnapped by the Big Bad's underlings & given over to the Heaven Thunder Triad for vivisection due to his interfering with the Big Bad's plans. Mammon was executed by the Big Bad & given an unmarked roadside burial almost as an afterthought.

My old ST used them as a baddie - except, he made the demon they were summoning real. (A Q8-Q9 nova, matching Divis Mal in power, who'd locked himself away in a pocket universe.)

We managed to kill it anyway.

So, this brought back the continent of Atlantis and caused the greatest natural catastrophy of human history. That's when we ended the game.

I used the real-demon-as-villain thing as well. My, wasn't he surprised when the cyberkinetic PC used the orbital railgun on him. "Never bring a knife to a gunfight ...." ::biggrin
