knave
Hey Gang,Bertjammin's stuff and the lack of activity on this board has lit a bit of a torch under me (owie - etc )What I'm trying to say is that I have a reasonably decent concept for an IIS game that I'm prepared to give a go. However, I don't mean to steal Bert's thunder and should he wish to run something along these lines consider this post a figment of your imagination... ::unsure Clearly I'm an old eonite and my free time and (these post Warcraft days) my attention span is limited so if it gets off the ground it'll be a short story arc - to be followed by another arc if the inclination is there. By short, I mean say 3 - 4 narrator posts a week for maybe a couple of months. Additionally I only want 3-4 players so it doesn't blow my fragile leetle mind if everyone goes off on their own.The tone of the first arc will be grit and horror and xenophobia. The characters will all work for the IIS - at least one of them being a 00.At most one of the characters will start as a dunked psion (Clear, Electro, Psychoken or Vita)Behind the scenes I will be using my own version of the freeform system allowing anything possible for a particular aptitude to be attempted - with varying results based on mode level. However I will be doing my utmost to avoid putting things in game terms - rather describing everything on the basis of how characters feel in a given moment.Non-active characters are guaranteed to become something cool if the game lasts through the first arc - although you'll have to trust me as to exactly what. The game will start shortly before certain events South of the Thames ::tongue so it could even be an OMGomorph!Ok - based on that - is anyone interested? ::wink
Rorx
Count me in Knave!Trouble around here maybe too few Trinity players rather than too many. Hence my change to my game to include Nova from Eden.I'd probably go for a military type who has recently moved over to IIS, former spacemarine perhaps?Anyway I'll check Bertj's stuff again when I get the chance. Rorx
Ok, need some details Knave.Do we use the Psion or Neutral creation rulles and what do we do about Psi etc?Is a range of Cyber available as bert suggests, and any limits if so?That sort of thing... Asbjørn
I'm in. ::cool Thinking of another former space commando, hailing from the upper classes and used to connections and money. I have another couple of character creation questions, though. I'll follow Rorx' lead and post it here, then you can move it later if you want, Knave. You say 'at least one 00' - is that a privilege we have to pay for like in the UK sourcebook, do you pick those characters you see as fit for the job, or what? If it's a merit we have to buy, does it also count towards the merit max?

The character sounds good, although the first arc starts a bit more investigativey than shooty, but I guess the IIS toffs could just be trying to round you guys out. What I think I'm going to do is to just level the playing field. Everyone starts with the 6 point Law Enforcement Merit for free - and doesn't have it count toward their maximum.

Always good to recruit people who've already had the basic instincts for survival and violence drilled into them.I'm thinking a varg pilot, actually. Well bred young man - or woman, come to think of it - with manners, etiquette and the appropriate amount of for-king-and-country-attitude. VARG pilots are seen sort of like the knights of old, aren't they? Would an actual knighthood be way off theme for this story? What I think I'm going to do is to just level the playing field. Heritage
I know nothing about IIS and I have only skimmed the above posts, but I want to know if I can play please? I've been rereading Trinity stuff for Rorx's game, and now I really want to play a psion. I even have a cool name: Jocasta Isabelle Benton. I somehow thought it was about VARG pilots, but that's even cooler! ::biggrin I'm off to read up on all things IIS!(dances happily away...)LOL - There's certainly a heavy VARG element to the book because, as written, it paints a Britain with militaristic intentions. The main thrust though is spies an covert ops. We've (finally) started our first tabletop I.I.S. game this week and it's coming across as a very "Rainbow Six" style set up but thats just to get the guys (all of which are Trinity Newbies) into the mechanics of the system and give them a feel for the setting. The casino style Bond stuff is all in teh pipeline.BTW I'm currently working on the next (and possibly final) version of the book. Cover art is with the colourist, there's some new npc illustrations, and sections on British fashion, the criminal underworld (including illegal immigration and the new trend of "air hijacking"), how the IIS recruit and from where, teh organisation of the two divisions of IIS (Analysis and Field) and a bunch of other assorted stuff. Most is "non-canonical" of course but is extrapolated and theorised based on what is in the canon material combined with historic trends and influenced in the UK. Use what you like, change the rest and if you've got any ideas for inclusion PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know.
Heritage
Quick question, what techniques/modes are currently represented? If at all possible, I like to avoid too much overlap. If need be to maintain secrecy, you can just PM me, Knave ::ninjaHere's an amazing fact: I was originally planning to play an American, but picked a name inspired by two Companions from Jon Pertwee's run as Doctor Who, hence 'Jo Benton' for short. Coincidence? I think not! ::biggrinEdit: Looks like I should read chargen rules more closely, since we AREN'T actually psions at this point - estupido! Heritage
Ooh, football humor, gotta love it ::biggrin Glad to know that sounds like a decent start. I often find odd ways to get into character, and to me sports is a good way to sort of sneak into their heads from the back door; who your a fan of says a lot about your attitude and upbringing. Since I'm a Yank, it took a lot of internet searching for me to come up with a team that fit my concept.BTW, I read the Spurs may well have new digs in the near future, so I might mention Jo seeing a match at 'Old Olympic Stadium' ::winkSince she's a psion, do I just do standard psion chargen using her IIS allegiance for skill groups, and then add the 25 exp afterwords, or should I do it it differently? You're expected to pick a team to support sometime before you're 10 - and you're not allowed to change your mind. Ever. ::tongue After that you can either follow football or not, but if you do you can expect your mates to wind you up about your team whenever they lose, or for generally being rubbish. Or to just 'hate' you for supporting a team that's winning. The worst sin anyone can possibly commit is switch allegiance to a winning team.On the other hand if you're a little bit posh or a colonial you might (and I stress the might) be into Rugby instead, but supporters of that game tend to be much less vocal off the pitch.BTW, I read the Spurs may well have new digs in the near future, so I might mention Jo seeing a match at 'Old Olympic Stadium' ::winkFeel free ::biggrin Since she's a psion, do I just do standard psion chargen using her IIS allegiance for skill groups, and then add the 25 exp afterwords, or should I do it it differently?Posted on the character creation thread
