Okay, I didn't think it was possible, but this could be the game to lure me back to EON; well done, Rorx!

Many moons ago, I ran a Trinity game here called New Guardians, which I killed in a ritual matter as I have always done, but there was an NPC Nova I played that I really liked (the one that Potts character spotted right away) who might be converted into a PC. The original idea was that she was one of the Nova Guardians that stayed behind to guard the Solar System for heavy-taint Aberrants (this is mentioned a few places throughout the Trinity books), so she is fairly old, having been born at the end of the 20th century. She is a shapeshifter and a bit of a spy mistress, with agents throughout human space keeping their eyes open for Abbies far more dangerous than herself, at least in terms of mental health. She maintains a few different identities and owns a spaceship or two, being fabulously wealthy due to wise investments over a hundred years.

That all being said, I'm fairly open on background details, the main things being shapeshifter, spy mistress (size and location of network very adjustable) and good guy, with everything else more of less fluid. What say you all?

Heritage, it would be good to have you back, I've enjoyed reading some of your stuff here.

Shapeshifting spymistress is possible, but the background would have to change as the premise is that you are all coming from Eden. Keep it the same upto the point of the Ultimatum when she pulls at least some of her network out to Eden before they break contact. Prior to that her ndtwork had assissted in recruiting and vetting those going to Eden.

Obviously she would have been a little stir crazy after 50years on Eden, although the contact with the Upeo stirred her interest again. With the UN finally agreeing, after ~2 years of talks, to allow a delegation back to Earth she would be desperate to get back there and to find out all that had happend and was going on.

How would something like that suit you?

Rorx, you mentioned the possibility of being one of the UN novas? What if Heritage played one of these, or one of the space brigade? Or maybe she went underground and dormed and comes out of hiding when the novas come from Eden? Just asking cuz I thought it would be cool if just one of us was an Earth/UN Nova...???

I actually like this idea a lot, the thought that she had an intelligence network in place back in human space (limited to the Sol System, more than likely) that has continued on her absence, doing who knows how good of a job without her oversight. She might have a handful of agents on Eden, who actually are kinda lame, more like private detectives researching possible leads on bad Abbies, but mostly just helping people with domestic issues. This has all been busywork she's been involved in to keep from going 'stir crazy' as you put it, worrying about her field agents like a parent worrying about her kids off at summer camp...for fifty years.

Sorry Sky, that was an option for Psion players not Nova. Psions for the Novas escorts/guides come predominantly from the Upeo/Starcrossed, but some may be UN/Aeon.

There is no ruch thing as a UN Nova

Heritage, yep no problem with you having the remenants of a network left in Earthspace. These would either have been the ones you didn't trust enough to bring to Eden or those you really trusted and volunteered to stay behind. Some would have fallen by th eway side and given up on it and/or forgotten about you by now. Others would have continued it in a quiet way, and a few more fanatical have turned it almost into a cult and/or family tradition/business.

If/when you manage to contact them you'll be more upto date than some...

This pretty much jibes with my idea; she set up this Anglo-Turkish front company called Sunset-Kalkay (offices in London, Istambul, Luna and a small satelite office on Absolute Zero) that was supposed to be self-sufficient with a directive to patrol the solar system for Abbies. Maybe each office sort of went of on their own weird path, with internal rivalries/factions? Her office was located at the small AZ branch; hmm, I might still have a map I drew of that place...

Mind you, you can probably expect the UN to freak (at least a bit) if/when they find out you're a Shapeshifter and again if you disappear to re-establish your connections or setup a new network.

After all the whole point of this visit is largely a PR exercise and to show that the Eden Novas can be trusted etc.

Understood ::biggrin She's actually very loyal to humanity (I think she might be ex-Directive, still fiddling with her background) and will attempt to be on her best behaviour, but she might get into some 'benevolent mischief' ::devil

I need to dig my Aberrant books out of my closet this weekend, so I can submit a sheet to you asap.

If I play in the game (which means if I fully decide to and Rorx accepts me) I would like to play a male nova who was born on Earth during the early 2000s and was one of the original core novas who left Earth to colonize Eden.

I was thinking that he would have medium level Quantum and a broad basis of powers, including all Mega-Social and Mega-Mental, as well as Mega-Stamina attributes. His powers would include Warp and various control powers (elemental control, not mental control).

I should mention he doesn't have max Quantum because he always felt it was better to be able to do a lot of things at okay levels rather than just a few things at huge levels. In addition, he also has respect for sanity and the baseline human form, and he doesn't want to taint that form.

He would have lower level taint, but there some aberrations that I like even if I don't have enough Taint to represent it. Aberrations such as Aberrant Eyes, Anima Banner and Unearthly Beauty.

Back in the days of Earth he was a Teragen and somebody who believed in nova supremacy. NOT nova divinity, but rather that novas were superior to baseline society and should dominate and rule them. Hence his connection to the Eden project.

Despite his decades on Eden (and its various auxiliary bases, such as mining locations and research stations) he never lost his love of Earth. He always felt that despite all signs to the contrary, the time of novas on Earth was not over and that he could wait a long time. He has patience and restraint and is willing to sit tight without acting for what he wants to come to pass.

Can I say (and I am willing to pay costs for this) he will have quarters inside the main fortress near Harmony, estates in the southern region, and a small research base on the moon which he warps to when he wishes to go there. He respected the opinion of the majority of novas of Eden and never went to Earth until recontact and permission was gained.

I need to figure out more information if I am going to be in the game, as well as some power focuses and whatnot. As well as stats and all that. I am reading over the posts to try and figure out everything I can about this particular game and the way that the ST operates. :)

++

By the way, you mention 60 nova points, is that above and beyond the normal character points used to create normal characters, or is that replacing the normal character points used during character creation to purchase attributes, abilities, and backgrounds?

++

I should mention, for those in the game that might not have this, I have access to pretty much every Aberrant and Trinity (and Adventure!) book. So if somebody says "look on page xx of yy" I can do it with no problem, nor do I have any problems typing paragraphs of books for those that might not have it.

++

I love novas, the concepts behind them, their powers, lifespans and abilities. I love the Trinity Universe, though I would prefer if Aberrant was not forced to conform to Trinity history, but that is neither here nor there. The idea of the setting, of Psions, of the Orders, of the politics and culture are all cool.

I should also mention that the majority of my rpg experience (and all of my online rpg experience) is from the point of being the ST. So, there might be times when I am not sure what a PLAYER should do. So bare with me, if you please. :)

Anyway, I love the game and setting and Eden and I think being part of such a game (as long as I am able and life does not interfere, hehe) would be really cool.

Then our characters are likely very familiar with each other. My character was born in 98.

I was thinking that he would have medium level Quantum and a broad basis of powers, including all Mega-Social and Mega-Mental, as well as Mega-Stamina attributes. His powers would include Warp and various control powers (elemental control, not mental control).

Take a look at what we already have going. We have a master warper but nothing says we can't have two. Just wanted to mention since you may feel overshadowed by a warp master if that is your schtick.

He would have lower level taint, but there some aberrations that I like even if I don't have enough Taint to represent it. Aberrations such as Aberrant Eyes, Anima Banner and Unearthly Beauty.

You are pretty much free to have any power manifestation sfx you wish.

Back in the days of Earth he was a Teragen and somebody who believed in nova supremacy. NOT nova divinity, but rather that novas were superior to baseline society and should dominate and rule them. Hence his connection to the Eden project.

IIRC, Rorx mentioned Terats are not a good choice for this game. Terats and Chrysalis and all that would put you in the nutter Aberrant camp and if you didn't go for such things the other terats would have killed you during the Night of Long Knives.

If you mean Earths moon its out of the question: Thats where the Clairsentient HQ is and there would be zero chance of going undetected. As for Eden, assume you can whatever palatial luxuries you wish. Also keep in mind that mostly this game will be based on Earth, though with the Upeo and Warpers at our side its not like home is far away...

By the way, you mention 60 nova points, is that above and beyond the normal character points used to create normal characters, or is that replacing the normal character points used during character creation to purchase attributes, abilities, and backgrounds?

60 NP total.

For this game we are following Trinity's canon of the Aberrant events.

Welcome Heru!

SkyLion,

I think having multiple characters from the same era makes a lot of sense when you consider what sort of group that the Eden nova governing council would choose as its first ambassadors. Novas from the very beginning who haven't gone all tainted would make fine ambassadors if you ask me.

Its good to know about the master warper, I read the pages but I kinda lost track of certain posts considering it being 7 pages and all. :)

My character idea is a sort of jack of all trades, master of only a very few (or one or none). So, he would have warp abilities but nothing that is what he would call a calling card or iconic power type.

Well, I wouldn't want to cause problems, and I have absolutely no intention of having my character go through a chrysalis. Even more, I don't have to have my character be an official terat, but I do want him to in general agree with the Null Manifesto. So, I can have all the benefits of agreeing with the philosophy and yet not have the baggage of being in the organization itself.

About the moon base, I meant Eden's moon, not Earth's moon. Though an Earth lunar base would be cool, I should think about asking for it (just kidding, well, not on the fact that its cool, on the fact that I want it, its not really even a question, I don't want it). And yeah, I figure that it won't be accessible on a day to day basis, but I do like the idea of having palatial and opulent quarters - I am making the character one of the oldest novas in the Eden society.

Thanks on the clarification of the 60 NP. That means that I just make a character using nothing but nova point dispersion for everything - attributes, abilities, backgrounds and all that. As well as powers.

On the history, yeah, I figured that, and I have no problem with it. In fact it makes perfect sense, if we didn't follow official history up until the game starts, then we couldn't really use Eden because history would be different. And if we couldn't use Eden then we wouldn't have a game. Which would take away the fun. :)

Thanks SkyLion for the welcome, I just hope that the ST doesn't have a problem with anything that I might create or do int he game. Well, beyond the normal limits of ST not liking what players do. hehe

++

The hardest thing I think is finding enough of a focus for my character (thus getting a feel for the character). This is hamstringing my ability to pick out the nature of my powers. I know I said jack-of-all-trades, but that is a lot harder to figure out then it would be if I said something like warper, speedster, batman-like character, etc.

I'm constantly thinking and trying to figure out the best and most entertaining nova character.

No. Standard character creation: phase 1 human. 60 NPs Phase 2 nova.

Nova Characters already in play:

Me: Super-Tank/Mega Beautiful (too beautiful...hides behind a mask all the time) Q6

Alex: Cloning War God/Healer Q6

Darklighter: Kung Fu Shrinking Monk Warp Master Q6

Jackson Creed: Skill Master Super Normal Q2

Heritage: Shapeshifting Spymistress Q?

Plus assorted sundry Psions.

And You! ::happy

SkyLion,

Ah, okay, okay. That makes perfect sense. The 60 Nova Points applies to the phase two point. Gotcha, gotcha. Actually, I am glad that its that way, it makes perfect sense and its something that I understand. You know, because its in the rules. :)

On the second point, that is a great summation of the seven pages in this thread and all the characters that have joined the game. Now I have to think of a character that complements and yet is unique compared to the rest.

This is a not-so-brief back story of my character. I welcome and appreciate comments, thoughts, opinions and ideas. They could help to make the character better. This is not the final draft, its still being worked on.

Imperos Primus

The being that would become Imperos Primus was born in the mid 1980s, the child of a tax accountant and a teacher. He was born Alexander Hamilton Smith the 16th, which means that his father was Alexander Hamilton Smith the 15th. His mother, the tax accountant, was a Rebecca Johanson. They lived in a somewhat isolated American town as what could be considered local nobility.

His life from birth to Eruption was one of opulence, wealth, and excess. While he was not rude or nasty to those that he considered beneath him, and there were many, he did not suffer fools nor did he spent much time cultivating true friendships with them. He was intelligent, even when he was a baseline, though he also underwent some physical training to make sure that his body did not become obese.

About two months after the Galatia Explosion the man that was Alexander Erupted while helping the community rescue a number of trapped miners in a cave-in. At one point he was trying to dig into the cave and the next he was inside the cave-in. Without even thinking he grabbed as many of the miners as he could and visualized the open space outside the mine. Doing this multiple times he managed to save the various people that were trapped from starvation, oxygen deprivation and slow death.

Upon emerging he was hailed as a local town hero and the only nova from these parts. Despite being in a highly isolated community, he was known to the people, and so they mostly accepted. Those that didn't found themselves quite quickly unwelcome in the town by the other baseline townsmen.

Over the next few years he managed to get more and more local power, eventually completely subsuming the local town government under his will, while keeping enough democractic elements to satisfy the state and federal governments. The life and economic standards of the people of the 6,000 residents of the city reached an all time peak, a peak that the community had never before been reached. Various commual policies, dictates and responsibilities were lain upon the people of the town, but in exchange they were protected and were allowed to have near total freedom of expression.

He would take weekend sabaticals and travel around the world. In less than five years he would actually visit pretty much every important and historical significant city and country in the world. He would do this secret and without much fanfare for he did not want the spooks of Project Utopia or the other nations of the world to discover his moonlighting. But such act of travel would provide in him a great sense of humanity and the world of Earth, and it would light in him a fire of love for the world that gave humanity its birth.

Speaking of Project Utopia, agents from that private organization arrived in the small town a year or so after Imperos Primus' eruption as a nova. Speaking to Imperos they tried all that they could to get him to join them, a so-called honor that he refused point blank. Even more he made it known to them that they were not welcome in the town, and that their presence was seen as an attempt by an outside organization to impose unjust rule on a people who value freedom and liberty. Both sides knew that this was pure nonsense, but the people from Project Utopia knew that Imperos was capable of wipping up local public ferver against the Project, and so they decided that this was a null zone.

A few years after Imperos erupted as a nova the great nova savant Divis Mal released the Null Manifesto. In the Manifesto, Mal declared that novas were an entirely new species from humans and thus not bound my purely human laws. Even more, Divis Mal declared that novas should not mingle with humans and that the two should not mix. From the standpoint of Imperos, the first part of the Manifesto made sense. Imperos did beleive novas were a new subspecies, a new evolution, a new advancement. He also believed that they were not bound my human rules, but only by future nova-made rules. But he disagreed with the idea that novas and baselines should not mix - in the view of Imperos, novas should rule over baselines, providing access to nova wisdom and capability and making the lives of baselines more complete. It was for this reason that while he came out in support of various Teragen activities he would never condone becoming a member of the organization.

This would remain pretty much the same for the next few decades. Imperos was both separated from most of the events of the world, but at the same time connected to it. He would take the time to meet and greet as many novas as he possibly could. In his mind he was trying to set the stage for some sort of nova unification, or at the very least, a council where novas could come together and speak to each other as equals. This wouldn't provide much actual effect on Earth itself, though it did allow him to Diana Kadmon and various other novas who eventually reached a point that they felt that maybe Earth was not the best place for novas.

One of the original novas Kadmon communicated with about her plans on a special colony for novas and their baseline followers, Imperos would spent years trying to figure out all the parameters for the best and most successful colony unconnected to Earth. He would travel to dozens of places around the world, monitor various activities, and try to learn a little bit about as much as he could - all in the hopes of gathering enough data to create a fully functional, stable and organized society. It would take decades but by the time that the more prominent nova warpers discovered the world that would be Eden, he felt that he was ready.

Over some amount of years Imperos would communicate with those from his town that he trusted. The vast majority of those that he communicated with accepted the idea to go with him when he left to form an entirely new world apart from the corruption that was plaguing Earth more and more. Almost all of the six thousand choose to leave on the exodus to Eden, but some did not decide to come. Those that decided they rather not come fell into two camps - those that were not trusted and those that were. The first camp was ignored by Imperos, or punished if it was found that they would tell others about the plans. Those that were trusted spread around the Earth after Eden was created, paving the way for what Imperos called the Plan.

For you see, amongst his general talents Imperos possesses the basic ability to warp from place to place. Due to the dangers and the vagaries of chance he had long implemented a policy amongst his more loyal mortal followers. This policy came about after he was stranded on the outer system moon of Neren for two years in the middle part of the 21st century. The policy states that unless their is irrevocable proof (and even in that case) the followers of Imperos are not to assume he is dead, they are just to assume that he is not available. They are to prepare for his return, and if he does not within normal mortal lifespan they are to have their children and grandchildren prepare for his return.

Imperos would not just provide thousands of baseline colonists, he would also use his incredible wealth to provide untold amounts of equipment. And though he was by no means the most powerful, connected or important of the novas, it could be said that is contributions to the creation of Eden was not a minor thing. It was important for without it, Eden would have still been possible, but it would have taken longer and been a much harder road.

Imperos would constantly travel between Earth and Eden over the next few years. He would aid in the building of the Eden colony (which also meant that he would pick the properties that he wanted to personally possess) then he would warp back to Earth and work in the evacuation or the gathering of data or what have you. He would do this for many years until Kadmon decided, in council with the other novas that went along with her, that the situation on Earth had reached a point of chaos. That no longer would it be safe or proper for those of Eden to remain in contact with Earth or to traverse its hollowed fields. Even more, it was determined that Eden itself was as fully self-sufficient as any world could be, and that it no longer needed Earth. Until the recent time period, once Kadmon and her allied novas decided no more contact, the warping between the two worlds was stopped by Impersos. His last trip between the two worlds before the present, was to purchase a boutique of roses for his mother and a ring for his partner.

Start of Part 2

After cutting times to Earth, Imperos life settled into a somewhat stable period. He would warp to various planetary objects within the Eden solar system - for example its moons and the various mining colonies established by Eden. He would aid in the creation of laws, of rules, of economic policies. He would develop new theories related to everything from politics, to sociology to the reason that the microbiology of Eden has only three bios rather than the standard Earth amount. He would do it all, would aid in all, and would be one of the most vocal proponents of the continued existence of the council of Novas that would lead Eden.

The arrival of Earth Psions was a great shock to him. And while he would have wished to be one of those that greeted them when they landed, he acquiesced to the decision of the council to sending the nova Apollo instead. He would later get to meet them and what he sensed was that while they weren't novas, they weren't baselines either. Which meant to him, that they were another path of advanced humanity, and worthy of respect. Of course, once learning the history of Earth and how they were subordinate to baseline institutional restrictions, he found himself not as pleased. But he also realized that he had time to get others to realize that the natural position of authority was that novas and psions should be on top and that baselines beneath them.

He did much, used much contacts and pull within the nova council and with other novas to get himself appointed the task of being one of Eden's nova ambassadors to the Earth. He knew that this would not be an easy task, that he would have to deal with baselines who did not know the true way of dealing with superiors. But he knew that he could do it, that he would have to do it, that he would resist showing those upstarts who was the boss. All so that Earth and Eden could be connected in bonds of friendship and maybe, in the far future, unity.

QUESTIONS

How long ago did he erupt?

1998. He is one of the first grouping of novas in existence.

Does he live in the citadel in Harmony or has he (had) built his own villa/estate?

He both does and does not live in the citadel. As one of the first novas on the world he was a part of the designing of the citadel. And to that end he had them build a personally appointed palantial suit in the western wing of the citadel. He lives there a lot when the duties of governing and organizing and speaking to the other novas of Eden require his presence. In addition to that he has a huge sprawling multi-hundred mile estate in the western reaches of the world. He spends a lot of free time in this estate relaxing when the world is getting to him. Finally, he managed to get authorization to construct a somewhat small but opulent lunar base over the moon of Eden. He uses this base (which he warps to) to conduct certain experiments and research operations that he does not want to occur on Eden itself.

What does he think of the contact with psions?

While not as mighty in his mind as novas, they are far beyond that of normal baselines. He considers psions to be one of the future paths of humanity and is intrigued about them, their powers and what they can do. He is completely willing and happy to treat psions as equals, and for the most part he feels that to be true.

What does he think of the contact with alien races?

He is intrigued. He cannot truly say that he is surprised due to all the weird things that he has seen in his life, but it is an intriguing concept. He doesn't know what to make of aliens themselves, but he is willing to listen and learn. What he does think is that humans (especially those with power, both novas and psions) are more important than aliens.

What is opinion of this recontact with Earth?

He always loved the Earth, the green fields that bore humanity in all its incarnations. And while he supported and agreed with the exodus to Eden, the eventual ending of contact and all that, he wished it wasn't so. Most importantly he wishes to get a sense of what the world is like so that maybe just maybe he can aid it in seeing the true path in which novas and psions use their abilities to aid in the development of baseline society from above it, rather than in or below it.

Powers

He could be considered a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. His powers are broad and expansive though not very deep in any particular area, at least currently.

Note: I am having problems with deciding what powers I want.

I just realized I never actually read or asked what the actual metaplot of this game will be about.

I mean I know that it is all about Eden and novas coming into contact (or recontact) with Earth, but I am not sure what we will be doing on a campaign and adventure level.

Is this a game about politics, battles, war, social interactions, or something else.

I personally like political and social, with only the occasional battle. So this is something I figure I should know before the game starts. :)

Very cool write-up, Heru! Your character has a nice balance between benevolent and imperial tendencies, which perfectly suit his background; I imagine this is the way many Eden novas feel about their rightful place in the universe, and how they can use that position to do good.

Rorx,

Awesome, that sounds nice. So their will be conflict but it will also have huge amounts of story driven content. Nice. That is exactly what I want.

Heritage,

Thanks for the complement, its appreciated. The back story just came to me, I sat down and started writing and wham, his entire life history. hehe I think it works and that it will be a fun way to play him with all his personality traits and stuff.

It also means that he is morally gray when it comes to acts of novas doing stuff to baselines. While he won't condone random and pointless acts of violence, if there is a reason for it, if it furthers an important goal, he is capable of doing a lot of 'bad' things. I sort of like that.

hehe SkyLion, :). I made myself old because I really like the concept of playing a nova that came from the start. Its a kinda cool character concept.

And I think its cool that your character is also pre-Eden, it allows for commonality of experience for both of us (and others) saw the Earth as it was good and then as it started to decay.

One question I have for our GM is how do you see events leading up to the War? I ask becuase I have a feeling it will shape the background of my character, and possibly others. I'm not so concerned by specific events, several of which are already outlined within Trinity canon, but the sort of trends in public thought as how Aberrants are perceived.

As an example of what I mean, here's the timeline I created for my War Journal campaign; obviously much of it is specific to my old game, but what I wanted to point out was listings under the decades (2020s, 2030s, etc), where I tried to sort indicate how things drifted to the point of war. I'm certainly not asking you to implement my ideas, but I'm curious as to what you would see as being different in your own timeline.

Imperos Character Update

Powers

One of the fundamental aspects of Imperos is that there is very few things that he is not automatically better at doing than baseline mankind. This translates to him having Mega-Dexterity, Mega-Stamina, Mega-Perception, Mega-Intelligence, Mega-Wits, and Mega-Manipulation. In addition under his control are the forces of space and the element of earth. Again, translating to the capability at utilizing the powers of Elemental Mastery and Spatial Manipulation. Within the field of Spatial Manipulation his most valued ability is the ability to teleport. All the above in a package of Quantum 6.

++

I finished the character, at least I think I did, should I sent to Rorx the excel spreadsheet that I used through email or what.

++

Not to be pushy, but I was wondering how many others are still making characters, how many players are there in the game, and if there is a date for us to start.

That and things like rules for posting in-game stuff.

The more I created and worked on the character the more I find that I am highly highly interested in playing the game. :)
