Soon I Will Be Invincible

If you've enjoyed snarky, intelligent looks at conventional superheroes (like The Tick, Watchmen, or The Authority), you might like Austin Grossman's Soon I Will Be Invincible. The novel is a playful story told through the words of a megalomaniacal supervillain and a cyborg superheroine as the supervillain tries to bring his mad plan to fruition. It's an easy read and it's got a lot of little gems in it as it thinks about the difficulties that might inconvenience supers. I wouldn't rate it too highly on its originality--it definitely has its roots in Watchmen and The Authority's supergroups--but it's still fun to read.

The book certainly looks like it'll have lots of stuff that can easily be transplanted into a session of Aberrant gaming. I'll have to see about picking it up when I get the chance. ::cool
