Aberrant: Prometheans Unbound - Create-A-Terat

Blue Thunder

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of Terats, and most of the ones in this campaign will end up being nothing more than names and brief backgrounds. That's fine, cause I need fodder. But I thought I'd give you guys the chance to make me some extra NPCs to toss into the game.

Here are the guidelines:

1 - You each get to make one NPC, and no more. You can make up to four.

2 - They cannot be Prometheans.

3 - They cannot be allied with or strongly linked to any of the player characters.

4 - They cannot be Pantheon members.

5 - They cannot be above First Stage.

6 - They must be actual Terats (no traitors or spies).

7 - They cannot be established canon characters.

8 - This is optional, and there is no reward for doing this.

9 - Assume they are roughly 30 nova point characters, with a Quantum limit of 5.

10 - Nothing canon breaking, please...

Here are the categories you'll fill out:

Name -

Faction -

Archetype -

Background -

Quantum Abilities -

Check out my character bios thread for examples.

Now, let me stress something: be brief. No more than a paragraph or two for the Background, thanks. I don't need a full backstory on the character and I don't want to know every power and Mega-Attribute they have. I just want a name, a faction, a simple background, and the general scheme of their quantum abilities. In fact, don't list any dice pools or actual quantum powers by the names from the book, and don't give dot ratings. Put them in roleplay terms. So not Q-Bolt 3 with Spray/Jet Extra, but "dragon breath" would work. I'll be the one to give them stats, if I choose to include them to the extent that I'll need stats.

I only need Terats for these factions: Cult of Mal, Pandamonion, Casablancas, Companions, and Harvesters. I have plenty of Nova Vigilance and Primacy made, so none for those factions please.

Also, don't become attached to an NPC you make. You'll probably end up fighting them or they may end up getting killed "off-screen" for my purposes. These characters will likely end up story-fodder, but they might also become important NPCs. Who knows?

Don't feel obligated to do this either, if you don't feel like it or have the time. I won't care.

Name: Veronica Solzhenitsyn

Nova Name: Artemis

Faction: Casablancas

Archetype: Monster (first stage)

Background: Veronica Solzhenitsyn was born in Belaruse and spent most of her childhood there. It was her poor choice of a blackmarket weapons dealer for a boyfriend that led to her eruption during a Utopia raid. She escaped in the confusion using her newfound powers, and quickly (and unsurprisingly) found her way to working for DeVries as an elite. It was there that she met Swarm Queen, and it was through Swarm Queen that she was introduced to novas like Allison "Shrapnel" Hughes and Count Orzaiz who eventually convinced her of the truth of Teras. Veronica views the philosophy of Teras through largely political eyes, having grown up under (in her opinion) a highly ineffective political system. She sees novas as the only real hope for a truly enlightened rule of the people.

Appearance: Veronica is of average height and build, caucasian, and has the looks of a european fashion model. However, the effects of taint have left her with absolutely no body hair whatsoever. She is otherwise about as normal looking as a nova can be.

Quantum Abilities: Veronica is a master of all forms of combat, ranged or personal, whether using her hands or archaic weaponry or the most recent Kurotech release. If she can see it she can hit it. In fact, she can hit it just by seeing it. Though she rarely uses the ability (as she regards it as something of a secret holdout weapon), she can project seering lasers from her eyeballs that will melt solid steel. Additionally, while by no means a "speedster", she is quite fast even by nova standards. While also not what is commonly called a "brick" or "tank", she has also shown a high resistance to heat and fire. She can also turn her form ethereal, and even invisible, rendering her untouchable to anything physical.

Name - Riot (Jonathan Krieg)

Faction - Pandaimonion

Archetype - Portent (1st Stage)

Background -

Growing up in America brought out the rebellious side of Jonathan Krieg, who rejected the straight-laced conventions of his immigrant parents. He was on the verge of becomming a drop-out wasteoid when he discovered Punk music. Bands like Black Flag, The Dead Kennedy's, and especially Bad Religion inspired him, reinvigorating his passion for learning as well as a geopolitical awareness. A week after some friends took him to his first concert, he had sold his beater to buy a used guitar and PA rig.

His first band, RIOT! lasted until the group split up to go to colege, where Jonathan majored in music and sociology, as well as independantly publishing a campus news zine promoting an intellectualized anarchist agenda. There he formed a new band: Crysis and the group was finally signed after 5 years of hard work and promotion. One of the first novas born, Jonathan erupted during the intensity of his first Warp Tour experience a few months after the Galatea exploded, catapulting him to instant fame.

An immediate fan of Mal and the Null Manifesto, Riot joined the Pandaimonion early on. He is within the inner circle of Narcosis and understands the Pandaimonion's true purpose and agenda. He promotes this through his new band: Tchernabog. The band has an all Terat cast featuring Riot on vocals and lead, A four-armed drummer with incredible stamina and multitasking ability, and a bassist who wields the ability to manipulate existing sound into a variety of useful applications.

Appearance-

Jonathan appears every bit the punk image, with a chiseled wiry physique, an array of tatoos covering his body and large gauge steel earlets (aka flesh tunnels) in his ears. He has aquired two aberrations: 1.) Eyes that look like this:IPB Image and 2.) His tattos have become animated, moving as images as well as traveling across his body at various times. The more intense he feels, the more they move, making his skin ripple and swirl during peak experiences.

Quantum Abilities -

Riot has an astounding charisma, including the abilty to affect groups. Not only that but people under his sway carry the resonance of his message and are enhanced in their ability to sway others. He calls this ability the Zeitgeist. He also possessess above human levels of Wits Dexterity, Guile and Intellect, which he uses to great effect in performance. His voice has been enhanced and he has the musical equivalent of artistic genious. Aside from his preturnatural Charisma and Guile his most potent ability allows him to intensify and manipulate the emotions of entire crowds of people...

How about one of each?

Name - Martyrdom (Hussein)

Faction - Companions

Archetype - Portent

Background – Martyrdom erupted in public during prayer in a temple in Sudan, and several of his selves were promptly beaten to death by his fellow worshipers, who felt that his demonic presence there was defiling. He fled the city and then the country, and was rescued by Terik.

Quantum Abilities – Martyrdom seeks to explore death and the afterlife by first hand experience. He creates clones of himself and sends them off to die. He can experience this since part of clone creation mind links them to himself. Martyrdom has no physical aberrations, but it’s been speculated by many that he has a death wish.

Name – Jim-Bob

Faction - Harvesters

Archetype - Monster

Background – Jim and Bob are Siamese twins joined at the hip and chest. They erupted during surgery to separate them (at the age of 2) and were rescued moments before T2M showed up. That was 4 years ago.

Quantum Abilities – It is believed that one of them is telepathic and the other has the power homunculus, but even they aren’t sure which is which. The twins don’t so much have a mind link as share a mind. Because of telepathy they have an adult education. Because of homunculus… their flesh slowly moves, and sometimes grows extra limbs, and can detach or spontaneously grow creatures that go off on their own.

Name – The Dick

Faction - Pandemonium

Archetype - Marvel

Background – Dick is one of Narcosis’ film partners. Much of his background is both boring and X-rated, but basically he’s a not to bright, horny teenager who hangs around the Pandemonium to get laid.

Quantum Abilities – The Dick has a tendril which can shoot forward 6 meters (i.e. 19 feet). He’s also mildly superhuman in his physical abilities (mostly in his stamina), and has a peak baseline appearance.

Name - Hip

Faction - Cult of Mal

Archetype – Undecided

Background – At the age of 25, Hip (or Hippy) was a poster child for the long term effects of drug use when he O.D’ed and erupted and became clean for the first time in his memory. So then he promptly sought out new and improved nova drugs. First Amp-wells, then soma, and that’s how he came to the Apostle’s attention. For all his raw power, he thinks of little but how to get his next fix.

Quantum Abilities – Hip can change his body into any element he touches, and create any element he can think of.

Name: unknown

Nova Name: Armadillo

Faction: The Harvesters

Archetype: Monster

Background: No one really knows the truth about Armadillo's past. In fact, no one's quite sure how he found his way into the Teragen at all. Some say the Apothecary himself found him, though whether this is true or how it would have come about, no one really knows. One thing is sure though, Armadillo isn't telling. Though this may be because he can't. Armadillo has never spoken a word, and so far as anyone within the Teragen knows, he can't. Armadillo, perhaps because of his unobtrusive silence, is one of the rare Harvesters that easily moves back and forth between the increasingly antagonistic camps that have gathered around the Apothecary and Leviathan. Attempts to sway his loyalties one way or the other have met with no success, and he is apparently indifferent to any hostility this attitude has earned him.

Appearance: Armadillo's skin has hardened into chitinous plates from which sprout numerous small hairs, and his face has almost no features with a chitinous "mask" covering everything except his eyes. Even his mouth is hidden behind this mask and it is perhaps because of this that Armadillo never speaks (though this also provokes much discussion about how he eats as well). Armadillo's only other truly remarkable feature is his bright orange eyes, with their vertical irises, that peer out from behind his chitin shell.

Quantum Abilities: As far as most within the Teragen are concerned, Armadillo is the quintessential "brick". He's nigh-indestructable, strong enough to throw tanks around, and quick enough to catch bullets (not that he needs to). In combat he uses a combination of speed and brute force to plow his way through enemies, ripping them apart with his chitin-hard claws. However, Armadillo is not just another pretty face, he's also amazingly perceptive. The hairs growing from his plates provides him with a surprisingly acute sense of touch, and his eyes never seem to miss anything. As if all this weren't enough, Armadillo is also a nova-level genius and occasionally helps the Apothecary with his research.

Name - Antonio DiGriz

Faction - Pandamonion

Archetype - Marvel

Background - Antonio was orignally a baseline. Born in Portugal, he gained fame (and a hell of a lot of money) after he started acting in Spanish soap operas. Within five years of starting his acting career, he was a millionaire (albeit a little one) and was being invited to the classy parties and such - the same ones the Count Orzaiz could be found it, which is where trouble started. A Utopian telepath decided that because he was 1) rich, 2) Iberian, and 3) went to the same parties as Orzaiz, that Antonio must have Teragen sympathies. So this telepath took it upon himself to attempt to scan Antonio's mind for this evidence.

Unfortunately for the telepath, Antonio erupted instead. Since then, he has joined the Teragen, through no help of the Count. After being rebuffed by Orzaiz, Antonio met with Narcosis during a photo shoot, and has since joined with her as a go-to guy when something needs to be done that looks awewsome.

Quantum Abilities - Antonio is virtually immune to any form of telepathic assault, and this defense helps him somewhat against other tricks like illusions and emotional manipulation. He also has a face to die for, and since his eruption has shown abilities near the maximum of baseline performance, especially when it comes to acting and speaking, and these carry over on his television and movie appearances. But his scariest power is his own mental attack, one that left a Utopian with a skull full of jellied brain. Antonio uses this devastating attack only in self-defense, though rumors say he's also used it to kill for Narcosis.

(max Thought Discipline and Perform, low Psychic Shield, Mega-App with Almost Live, and Mental Blast Aggravated.)

Name - Roberto Gonzales

Nova Name - Mr. Bleedalot

Faction - Harvesters

Archetype - Monster

Background - Roberto was a bartender in Mexico City, part of a large family who he was helping out. During a "disagreement" between two Mexican elites and T2M America, his bar was destroyed, with him in it. He crawled out of the wreckage, bearing dozens of near fatal wounds, and vanished into the underground. Despite his lack of aberrations, he considers the Harvesters his new family, and does many errands for them that cannot be done by those more physically tainted.

Quantum Abilities - Roberto has very little beyond his amazing capacity for injury. As a test, he's done things like jump off a building, run over by a loaded semi, and having Leviathan take a punch at him. While all of these have clearly left their mark, he recovers completely unscarred. He can also spew forth gouts of blood, infecting others with diseases. While this is a weak attack, Roberto hopes to improve it as he studies medicine under the Apothecary.

Name - Mohammed Marid

Nova Name - The Faceless One

Faction - Companions

Archetype - Marvel

Background - Mohammed was a street youth in Bahrain, the youngest child of a large, poor family. From a very young age, he spent time in some of the tamer street gangs, doing petty theft and begging from some of the American soldiers to try and keep himself (and occasionally his family) fed. At the age of 17, he and some of the other gang members managed to steal a US Hummer, driving it off the base and selling it to a chop shop out in town. Hunted by the police (after some of his arrested buddies gave up his name) he fled into the teeth of one of the anti-nova riots that erupted in the months following the Galatea. In the face of the riot, being chased by police, Mohammed erupted, changing his form and fleeing into the sewers. Over the next day, he learned how to control the changing of his form. Within a few months after his eruption, while trying to carefully flee the Middle East for somewhere in Europe more friendly to nova-kind, Tarik ibn-Mahmoud came across the youth and recognized him for what he was. This makes Faceless one of Tarik's oldest, though not closest, nova Companions.

Quantum Abilities - Faceless can change his form into nearly anything he can imagine, and delights in shedding his limited baseline form. Indeed, rare is it to find him in something approaching normal humanity, as he experiments with a variety of characteristics. Not limited to flesh, either, Faceless can absorb the properties of matter and energy, and he is as often found made of bizarre mixtures like glass and fire, or steel and diamond. His powers have taken a toll on him, as when he reverts to his normal self, his face is like a mannequin, lacking the features of a normal person - leading to his new name of the Faceless One. Some rumors have also quietly spread about his bizarre tastes in drugs and indulgences of the flesh, things surely banned by the Islam that Faceless's mentor Tarik espouses, but if the iron-fisted Tarik has heard the same rumors, then so far he has found nothing to substantiate them.

Looks like I might have to put a "due date" on these. If anyone wants to make any more (you can make up to four) then they'll need to be done before Chapter 2 begins. No rush though, and if you don't want to make any, there's no penalty.

I may allow a few more to be made by you guys after Chapter 2, in the form of new Teragen recruits/converts. We'll see.
